Avatar m tn hey there, badgerMR. to be honest, i took metronidazol just one day after i took my azythromicine (i know, shouldn't self-diagnose), but I took them anyway. and it did not help. I know there's an alternative which is tinidazol but I'm just saying I did take antibiotics against MG myself and it did not help the symptom...
Avatar m tn doxycycline, azithromycin and moxifloxacin. The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?
438204 tn?1254077248 She came around but is still not sure what is reality and what is fiction. They have since ruled out stroke and heart failure as she has liver failure and had a bleed in her stomach. She is already at stage 4 Kidney failure and has been for a couple of years and her health has deteriorated the past few months to the point we were expecting something big like this to happen. 5 Years ago she had heart surgery as she has irregular heart beat, metal valve fluid on her lungs.

Avatar m tn Our 39 year old daughter is in the hospital with liver failure--cirrhosis, fatty liver, and sludge in her spleen. She was admitted on 6/10/13. For the first five days she was incoherent, then gradually she began to be able to communicate. She still, eight days later, isn't sure what year it is or which hospital she is in. She's been told her condition is grave, but we are not certain she understands. They are trying to bring her liver function up to 10% of normal operability.
Avatar m tn my nana has liver failure through alcoholism and she is sleeping alot for 16 hours a time is this normal or is this the end stages of her illness

Avatar n tn She was taken to the emergency room yesterday morning and has been admitted into Intensive care. She has liver failure. She is yellow (yellow skin and eyes). She has swollen legs and stomach. The doctors are running blood tests, but they cannot tell me anything yet. I need to know what to expect. I am 20 years old and I don't know what to do. If anyone can tell me what to expect please tell me! my email is ***@****.
Avatar m tn m very sorry that your husband did not remain sober, as he will only hasten complete liver failure if he continues to drink... my hope is that he can abstain and perhaps thereby improve his condition... my heart and prayers to you, your husband, and your family.
Avatar f tn .My brother 46 was given 2 months to live due to liver failure caused by alcohol and Hep B . Scared him a bit, he was put in the hospital for 4 weeks, and got better real quick. That was March 2011. He started drinking again right after he got out of the hospital. It's hard to believe but he is still working in a bar and walking. I don't know how he does it. His stomach is very swollen, he can't eat and doesn't sleep much, but he' still going!!!
Avatar f tn Please if anybody can help me with any kind of indication of what to expect from here. Is the limb pains caused by the liver failure?
Avatar n tn A recent study was done to show that Myco was only erradicated by 85% of those on the Azithro regiment described, however Avelox ( Moxifloxacin) killed Myco in all cases. Routine is to try described Azithro regimen first and if symtoms still exist Moxifloxacin. Why? I guess so that Myco doesn't become Moxifloxacin resistant. Save the bugs, kill the patient kind of thing. I say take the 400mg a day X 10 day regiment of Moxifloxacin and help yourself.
Avatar m tn Did you ever get this cleared up? Levo can cause treatment failure and end up in flouroquinlone resistance — making Moxifloxacin useless and resulting in an untreatable infection.
Avatar f tn Cure rates with moxifloxacin are 100% According to some info I’ve found, and is used after Doxy and az. So id press to get moxifloxacin. moxifloxacin 400 mg daily for 7 to 14 days is the preferred antibiotic regimen.
Avatar f tn In early December 2015, after seeing a new girl for about two weeks, I experienced NGU. I had discharge and burning urination. The girl said she was "clean". She was tested for the same and came back negative. I went to my gp who tested for chlamydia and gonnnoreah. Both came back negative. I was treated with single dose azthrymocin and my symptoms went away. Doctor thought it was from trauma, which I know now is probably impossible.
Avatar m tn My concern is that I have been taking 4,500mg of Acetiminoophen for two days straight (prior to this I had lower dose acetiminophen tabs. Will my liver be able to take this or just how much over the max dose of 4000 do you have to take and for how long before damge is done? What are the common signs? At present feeling fine, but wicked anxious about going over 4000mg. Some reassurance to calm me down if possible but if hard truth is really the only truth don't sugar coat it.
Avatar m tn But the doctor mentioned that my white blood cell count is slightly higher than normal ( WBC count taken from the swabs, not from my blood work) and mentioned that there might be an infection so she prescribed Avelox (Moxifloxacin), 4 x 400mg once daily. The background is, I am Chinese male, been with my girlfriend for about a year and both of us have been loyal and we were both asymptomatic before this event.
Avatar n tn If there is occlusion of the common bile duct, then this will also cause fever with chills. Cirrhosis of liver too presents with chills and fever. Liver failure in itself is tough for the body to handle and on and off there are chills and a mild rise of temperature as the body tries to fight for survival. It is a strain on the body. A new infection causing fever and chills would normally raise the temperature to much higher levels.
Avatar n tn "In my son's case, the diuretices were no longer working is there something else that could have been done to save his life?" I'm sorry but there is no way for me to know the answer to your question. Was your son awaiting tp ? Paracentisis is an option that is commonly used to control ascites in those who are resistant to diuretics. Even so, tapping carries some risks.
1280753 tn?1367757932 Cirrhotics are prone to bacterial infections. Cirrhotic patients are in a immune dysfunctional state. The liver which abnormally cleans the blood of bacteria and other toxins is not able to perform these tasks because the scarring of the liver causes blood flow to be shunted around the liver so they are not cleaned from the blood as they would normally be. This leads to more infections in cirrhotics and sometimes life-threatening infections.
Avatar f tn t seem to find a diet for liver failure. The doctor told us fruit and vegetables, but how can I find an actual diet? We don't get to go to San Francisco until the first of the year to get him on a transplant list? Not sure what to actually feed him. Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar n tn My son had liver enzymes alt and ast that were at over 300 and then over 2000 4 weeks later. He develped a bleed and died. Could he have had liver failure in that short of time. He had been on a TPN feeding for 8 weeks. Just curious.
Avatar n tn now only left moxifloxacin hasnt try, seems to be last resort. this bacteria already bothered me for 6 months, really want to get rid of it.
Avatar f tn The first sign that the liver is damaged is typically a pain in the upper-right abdominal area or tenderness near the liver. The liver will be swollen. Following this, liver failure can occur. Signs of liver failure are jaundice (yellow eyes and skin), dark urine, confusion, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), bleeding, nausea, and vomiting. During this stage liver blood test abnormalities will show up on blood tests.

Avatar f tn If the damage to the liver is not stopped, the liver gradually loses its ability to carry out its normal functions. This is called liver failure, sometimes referred to as end-stage liver disease. At stage 4 you are a stage before end stage. My symptoms are acites (fluid retention in abdominal area), edema (fluid rention in legs), protal hypertention of the esophagus level 2.
