I tested positive for Mycoplasma Genitalium in a DNA Lab, I just finsish my antibiotic treatment of Azithromycin 500mg day one the 250mg for 4 days. It's been 5 days since my last pill, I'm still feeling tenderness in my penis. What should be my next step?

hey there, badgerMR. to be honest, i took metronidazol just one day after i took my azythromicine (i know, shouldn't self-diagnose), but I took them anyway. and it did not help. I know there's an alternative which is tinidazol but I'm just saying I did take antibiotics against MG myself and it did not help the symptom...
My partner also tested negative for everything and so after i finished the antibiotic treatments i waited a week before having sex. When i had unprotected sex the symptoms persisted again even though the doctor told me i should’ve been fine. And then afterwards i only practiced protected penetrative sex and unprotected oral sex, and my symptoms came back when receiving oral. So I know there’s been reinfection.
Amoxicillin is a penicillin type of antibiotic and Avelox is a quinilone. Different mechanisms of action but both antiobitics used to treat bacterial infections. Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns but they are definately not the same thing.
Often antibiotics have little niches that they are used in.

He also took a swab to develop in the lab and he said moxifloxacin 400mg was fast effective to the bacteria but there was a part of the bacteria that was resistant. He still gave me a 20 day course and its been a week since i've finished it and yes the infection is still there. My symptoms is not as bad as some other sufferers, slight discharge in the mornings and tingles around the tip but not as much as before.
Hi, we are not doctors on these sites but I am a microbiologist and can give you some advice. It is rare to have Moxifloxacin resistance but it does happen. Since you both still have symptoms. Have you re-tested after treatment? If so I would wait about a week before re-testing to get the antibiotic out of your system. Yes usually after treatment of up to 14 days you should be symptom free unless it is a resistant strain or you have something else causing the problem.
Doctor has done a malaria test - negetive. Xray showed mild infection in lungs - maybe pnemonia did not go away. Strong Antibiotic - moxifloxacin and a number of blood samples taken for culture and tests.
However issue is fever is not going down after two days of medication. And now she is not responding to paracetamol - fever is consistently 37.5 /101 range.Should I wait for Monday or go to ER ?
nothing chronic about it other than the length it went without effective antibiotics. I myself cleared it with Moxifloxacin and Rifampicin My test was repeated negative until I joined a research study for unable to be identified bacterial prostatitis.
Wait for results if they say nothing is wrong tell them your partner had antibiotic resistant mycoplasma genitalium and you require rifampin and moxifloxacin because if you take one and not the other you will become resistant and require Intraveneous Synercid. Don't let a dumb doctor swap one antibiotic for another not knowing what to treat and don't let a doctor convince you otherwise. Unless the doc immediately knows of mg. You stand no hope of getting help.
doxycycline, azithromycin and moxifloxacin. The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?
Also, I take a syrup for common cold and influenza (dosage teaspoonful 5ml which contains 160mg paracetamol, 1mg chlorpheniramine maleate, 15mg pseudoephedrine HCI, and 4.5mg dextromethorphan HBr).
I'm going into some special urgent medical examination for a new job:
1- Liver test (Hepatitis B and C)
2- General blood test (Biochemical analysis)
3- Urine test
Would my antibiotic (augmentin 1g) and the above medication affect the results of the above tests?
After returning to the US, I had tests done again which all came negative, including standard broad spectrum STD testing and even mycoplasma (blood test, not swab) yet symptoms still exist. I have gone through two courses of levofloxacin (30 days) and one course of moxifloxacin (10 days) yet it still persists. The moxifloxacin seemed to have more effectiveness.
I've seen several similar posts in this community and hope someone can help or share their experience.

I was finally able to find a surgical center to perform my cataract surgery (severe anemia). Began the moxifloxacin drops before surgery, no problems. After surgery, I started the Ketorolac and the prednisolone drops. Surgery was late Wednesday, took drops once, then on Friday morning, I awakened to a rash on both forearms that itch like mad and are on fire.
If you have a persistent mycoplasma genitalium infection that has failed azithromycin and Moxifloxacin, urge your doctor to try Lefamulin (Xenleta). This is a new and very promising antibiotic and could be the hope those need for untreatable mycoplasma infections.
Lefamulin is now available through Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy. Please look into this and demand that you try it.
All that said, if professional exam by an STD expert demonstrates that you have either abnormal discharge or increased white blood cells in your urethra, additional treatment might be considered, maybe including an antibiotic reliable against M genitalium, such as moxifloxacin. But I doubt this is necessary, and based on the information currently available, I don't think any antibiotic is likely to make any difference in your symptoms.
However you can find plenty of digestive enzymes supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements on the market. Some brands contain both enzymes and betaine HCI with pepsin.

I'm afraid I don't know much about the particular questions you ask. I briefly did think I had Mycoplasma myself (I didn't). I believe Mycoplasma has had growing resistance to Zithromax, and I know moxifloxacin is the backup anti-biotic for treatment. Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic and it can cause tendon rupture, as you've likely read.
Can I Take Diphenhydramine HCI 50mg and Clonazepam .5mg and Lithium Carbonate 450mg in one dose tonight before bed.
But the doctor mentioned that my white blood cell count is slightly higher than normal ( WBC count taken from the swabs, not from my blood work) and mentioned that there might be an infection so she prescribed Avelox (Moxifloxacin), 4 x 400mg once daily.
The background is, I am Chinese male, been with my girlfriend for about a year and both of us have been loyal and we were both asymptomatic before this event.
I was then treated with moxifloxacin (moxifloxacin 400 mg qd x 7) and cefixime (400 mg x 1). The previously mentioned symptoms persisted, as did intermittent aching in the groin and testicles. I also began experiencing some intermittent joint pain in hands and feet as well on the soles of my feet and my heel; occasionally, also redness and watering of the eyes.
now only left moxifloxacin hasnt try, seems to be last resort. this bacteria already bothered me for 6 months, really want to get rid of it.
