Avatar m tn Hello there, Nootropic drugs like Piracetam or analeptic drug such as Modafinil could help you with this problem. A diet including Omega-3 is also to be considered.
2007231 tn?1327807016 He has had it in senile dementia status for about 5 years. We recently use Piracetam and Hydergine for this situation we are in. I can say that it has been helping much more than anything else in the past like coconut oil, ketones, etc. Honestly, he is able to drive again and remember most of the marketing techniques he has in the trading world. umm. He is currently a Director in the IT world at the age of 59 and I don't want him to ever fall off the edge.
Avatar m tn No you have damaged your brain at all. You were probably experiencing some side effects from the rhodiola. If it happens again it might be from your lack of choline levels when taking piracetam. I read that choline can reduce the headaches from piracetam usage at www.smartdrugsforthought.com/what-is-piracetam They explain the usage of choline when taking piracetam. If that doesn't help you might be low on glutamate or calcium levels.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms are very likely due to piracetam withdrawal. Abrupt discontinuation of piracetam can cause excessive anxiety, tremors and even myoclonic seizures. These effects are due the fact that Piracetam acts on multiple targets in the brain including Ach, NMDA receptors. I would suggest you to consult your GP about it as early as possible as this medication should be taken only on medical advice.
Avatar f tn If you want a good over-the-counter pharmaceutical I would look into piracetam and use choline with it. Piracetam is an excellent cognitive enhancer and will really help with cholesterol more than all the listed above. Finally nothing will beat a daily healthy diet low in bad fats and exercise.
Avatar f tn I have been put on Modafinil for my sleeping issues and it makes my birth control less effective according to my neurologist and pharmacist. Is there any way I can find out how MUCH less? Am I even protected at all? I have been on the pill for 10 years and after hearing this, I immediately called my gynecologist to discuss other options. She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring.
Avatar m tn Not good. You definitely want to look for a specialist. Might want to scope out your throat to see if there are also problems down there. Under side effects for Nuvigil it says, "Skin and mouth sores, blistering, and ulceration have been reported with modafinil and NUVIGIL in the postmarketing setting. Recurrence of signs and symptoms of serious dermatologic reactions following rechallenge has been reported in some cases.
Avatar n tn any advice or experiences that could help me understand would be really helpful please. My brother has started university to study architecture this year and due to the huge amount of nights he had to work, started going on modafinil. Now that the year is finished and he's not taking it however, he has become aggressive, irrational and rude. Does anyone know if this is because of the modafinil or if there's a link.
Avatar m tn it shares the same 2-oxo-pyrrolidone base structure with 2-oxo-pyrrolidine carboxylic acid (pyroglutamate). Piracetam is a cyclic derivative of GABA. It is one of the racetams. Piracetam is prescribed by doctors for some conditions, mainly myoclonus,1 but is used off-label for a much wider range of applications. However, some treat it as a food supplement rather than a drug.[citation needed] Interesting --- perhaps I should be taking this... LOL! Have you been diagnosed with Hepatitis C?
5160872 tn?1385248794 The grounds for my taking it was for my sleep apnea and not the MS. Modafinil remains an off-label use for MS, but with the advent of the generic form, it seems to be easier to get approved. I hope that will be the case for you. I hope you get the chance to try it and see if it makes a difference for you.
Avatar m tn Also they used to have the piracetam also that i was adding to the vitamins they have worked lovely with her. But they no longer sell the piracetam so i have to get through the US. There are some places that you can get them online if you do a search on it there are plenty. Hope that helps When I stop the vitamins i see a big change to the worse.
7126533 tn?1388405470 It seems people either love the effects of Modafinil on their fatigue, or they have no improvement at all. There isn't any middle ground with the drug and how we react. I am impressed that you are running a marathon - good for you. You might consider talking to the doctor about intermittent self-catherization. If you use ISC before you begin your run, your bladder will be completely empty and there will be nothing to leak. It might be a good technique to add to your training regimen.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 100 grams of modafinil pills for about 2 weeks to get through exams and now that I have stopped taking anything, I am experiencing constant dizziness. I am wondering whether I should wait this out or whether I need to see a doctor asap....
Avatar f tn Can you please tell me if taking 300mg Adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) once or twice a week, to help me study. will decrease the effectivenes of birth control pills? I'm taking Levlen 1.5/30mg I know that a long term Modafinil use makes birth control pills less effective but how about short term? PLEASE ADVISE, Thank you!
Avatar f tn Can anyone please tell me if adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) will affect taking birth-control pills? In other words, if I occasionally take adrafinil to help me study - will it make the pills ineffective. I certainly don't want to get pregnant. I know that long term use of Modafinil decreases the effectivenes of bc pills but how about short term use? Once or twice a week? Thank you!
5509293 tn?1428531475 Has anyone using provigil in 200mg doses had problems with either elevated blood pressure or blood pressure spikes?
Avatar m tn then she said the next step would be to take modafinil(alertec) to see if it maybe just improves my overall well being throughout the day and maybe feel worse at night. i went back to my family doctor with the results and he agreed the modafinil would be the next step, as well as taking some blood tests. i went on the modafinil for 2 months and still absolutely no change.
5160872 tn?1385248794 I am switching from Avonex to Tecifidera and from Modafinil to Symmetrel. How has these worked out for others? I am looking forward to not having the injections and being able to take pills instead.
1203197 tn?1265555829 Hello there, first off all getting off seroquel is a good thing. Now speaking of Modafinil (Provigil) well i suggest it to you because it doesn't have any badside effects at all but the little side effects when you start or the ones of drinking coffee and even then i didn't notice anything stronger than coffee with Modafinil (Alertec here in Canada). I take it as a cognitive enhancer.
667078 tn?1316000935 I previously tried Modafinil with no benefit but decided to try it again today and a 200 mg dose really seems to be making a difference. I'm hopeful I'll continue to get this benefit as my fatigue has been severe lately. I literally fell asleep in the middle of getting a filling at the dentist last week. Alex, if your fatigue is caused by anemia I wonder how useful the Modafinil would be for you. I think if it were me I would seek to correct that problem first.
Avatar m tn my son is 21 and is also bipolar with psychosis so he deals with the paranoia more. he takes abilify and modafinil (modafinil is like aderol with out the addictive reactions) it helps him stay more focused. don't know if this helps - but feel free to contact me if i can help any.
Avatar m tn Piracetam is a supplement, it can be bought as a powder or pills over the internet or at some food supplement stores. And yes it is studied for it's anti-coagulant proprieties.
14631020 tn?1436545476 I am a newly diagnosed MS patient. I have multiple lesions in my brain. I didn't present to the doctor with 'typical' MS symptoms (but as you guys already know, there is no such thing) I haven't had any real numbness. My biggest complaint was bone crushing fatigue, which I still deal with and am trying to work full time as an xray tech.
1042487 tn?1275279899 Neither are available in the stores. The ginkgo I purchase from the health food stores in person as well as rhodiola. The Piracetam I take is only available through import so that has to be ordered and that is rather expensive. The glycine is ordered through Vital Nutrients and the rhodiola through GNC. The Manganese and gingko can be ordered through any nutrition store and the Piracetam through Colorado labs.
Avatar n tn t see anything for ~5 seconds, and I had a noise with my eyes for 3-4 hours. Two days I felt dizzy. I made CT-scan test. No any problems in the test. But my cognitive function is very important for me. I don't want lost ever 1-3 points of my IQ. What can I do for my brain? The family doctor refused my request to write me medical prescription for the Nootropics. I buy myself (for the Bitcoins) noopept. Also my friend-psychiatrist gave me advice to buy piracetam.
