Avatar n tn any advice or experiences that could help me understand would be really helpful please. My brother has started university to study architecture this year and due to the huge amount of nights he had to work, started going on modafinil. Now that the year is finished and he's not taking it however, he has become aggressive, irrational and rude. Does anyone know if this is because of the modafinil or if there's a link.

Avatar f tn Can anyone please tell me if adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) will affect taking birth-control pills? In other words, if I occasionally take adrafinil to help me study - will it make the pills ineffective. I certainly don't want to get pregnant. I know that long term use of Modafinil decreases the effectivenes of bc pills but how about short term use? Once or twice a week? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I have been put on Modafinil for my sleeping issues and it makes my birth control less effective according to my neurologist and pharmacist. Is there any way I can find out how MUCH less? Am I even protected at all? I have been on the pill for 10 years and after hearing this, I immediately called my gynecologist to discuss other options. She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring.
5160872 tn?1385248794 I am switching from Avonex to Tecifidera and from Modafinil to Symmetrel. How has these worked out for others? I am looking forward to not having the injections and being able to take pills instead.
Avatar m tn Not good. You definitely want to look for a specialist. Might want to scope out your throat to see if there are also problems down there. Under side effects for Nuvigil it says, "Skin and mouth sores, blistering, and ulceration have been reported with modafinil and NUVIGIL in the postmarketing setting. Recurrence of signs and symptoms of serious dermatologic reactions following rechallenge has been reported in some cases.
Avatar m tn All the information I have read strongly suggests that Modafinil seems to have a very toxicity, and what I am doing may very well not be causing me any damage, however I do appreciate that large, clinical studies of such doses have not been conducted. I also appreciate that I am no expert and I am trying to gain information to expand my perspective. I am potentially willing to reduce my dose, but not discontinue entirely.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, modafinil mainly acts by decreasing GABA-mediated neurotransmission. GABA is known to suppress the general alertness and can cause induction of sleep. Modafinil increases high-frequency alpha waves while decreasing both delta and theta wave activity which shows generalized increase in alertness. Hence, Modafinil Improves wakefulness in patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and shift work sleep disorder (SWSD).
5509293 tn?1428531475 s office to see if there was anything I could take and it was either Modafinil or Amantadine and another specialist had told me that Modafinil was the one that worked best so I am leaving fatigue alone for now.
1203197 tn?1265555829 I find it funny that you bring that up because I am also on Modafinil and Cymbalta. Try to get rid of the Seroquel and trazadone when you can and go for the Cymbalta and Provigil. Think about adding a good vitamin B complex to help with energy and you metabolism and what it can do for your brain and mood.

Avatar f tn Hi all, I currently take 100 mg of Modafinil every morning but was advised that I could take up to 400 mg per day. The doc who prescribed mentioned one tab in the am and one in the pm but I have heard from other people who take it that they find it better to take 200 mg in the am instead of splitting it into two doses. I tried the am and pm option today but am beyond exhausted. I would love to hear what anyone has found works best for them. Thanks!

14631020 tn?1436545476 Over two years I have been on amantidine, modafinil and now ritalin 10 mg x 3 a day. I can stil sleep on the ritalin and am shocked by that. Obviously I had to try everything else first due to risk. My specialist said that usuallt when people legitimally need the medecicine they usually don't abuse it. I haven't found any problems with it.
19327666 tn?1475833305 I just read where another user asked this same questions so I hope I'm not breaking rules here by being redundant. But I'm planning to try using modafinil to help deal with opiate PAWS related symptoms of fatigue/depresssion/lethargy, and just the general funkiness that we feel when we stop taking opiates after years of abuse.I'm very curious how this will work in the long term. I stopped taking percocets (about 250-500mg daily!
Avatar f tn I wasn't taking any classes when my son was born but went back to full time school before he was 6 months, graduated this past December shortly before his 3rd birthday. I'll be going back this fall to work on my next degree (due in February) but will likely take only online classes for the first two semesters to accommodate my work schedule and pregnancy/newborn baby. I think it's a great idea to chip away at it a little at a time if you can.
611067 tn?1458591483 Is it just me or are you all seeing an escalated amount of inappropriate relationship happening between teachers and their students. We've had several cases here in Utah over the past year. This past week it was a 62 year old teacher who married his 18 year old student (she graduated in June and turned 18 in September and then they eloped to Vegas to get married). What is wrong with people in authority? I just feel it's wrong!
20003388 tn?1515166040 I was recently switched from Paroxetine to Fluoxetine. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When on Paroxetine and I was tired ALL the time. I was literally falling asleep at my desk. It was hard to stay awake. I do have obstructive sleep apnea however I use a CPAP every night. According to the readout on the machine I usually stay between 2 and 4 events an hour.
Avatar m tn The US Department of Justice had issue warning to the universities that it is illegal to do so. Also CDC had also issued guidelines and saw no restrictions on the students/trainees. "The updated CDC recommendations, based on the most current scientific information, dispel many myths associated with hepatitis B and provide guidance to health-related schools on managing students with the virus.
572651 tn?1530999357 I know people in the US order drugs and cigarettes from outside the country to save money, get meds their insurance denies and avoid high taxes. I don't blame them a bit but doubt their sources are overly secure or long lived. I do wonder what the custom tag content list says is inside. The government sets the regulations. They are aware foreign suppliers are offering prohibited products to US citizens.
Avatar f tn I do relate to your frustration. I was just diagnosed with N last month although I've been working with a dr who has had me on various stimulants for a couple yrs now. After watching my mom struggle with N practically all my life, I'm terrified I will end up between a rock and a hard place.
