I am on 100 mg of bupropion and was feeling a little anxious. Before taking bupropion, when I felt a little anxious my roommate would give me one of his ativan's, but a full 0.5 would make me sleepy…so I cut it down to 0.25 which worked nicely. I have started to do that with the bupropion…is that ok?
Can anyone please tell me if adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) will affect taking birth-control pills? In other words, if I occasionally take adrafinil to help me study - will it make the pills ineffective. I certainly don't want to get pregnant.
I know that long term use of Modafinil decreases the effectivenes of bc pills but how about short term use?

I have been put on Modafinil for my sleeping issues and it makes my birth control less effective according to my neurologist and pharmacist. Is there any way I can find out how MUCH less? Am I even protected at all? I have been on the pill for 10 years and after hearing this, I immediately called my gynecologist to discuss other options. She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring.
Hi there...I take Wellbutrin XL (300 mg extended release bupropion) and no I didn't gain weight on it. I have been on differing doses for over 2 years. Also, no loss of sex drive if that is important to you which is a common side effect of most of the other medications used for anxiety.

Under side effects for Nuvigil it says, "Skin and mouth sores, blistering, and ulceration have been reported with modafinil and NUVIGIL in the postmarketing setting. Recurrence of signs and symptoms of serious dermatologic reactions following rechallenge has been reported in some cases.
I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well.
I guess my question is, is , has this kind of fatigue been know to be a side effect with Effexor?
any advice or experiences that could help me understand would be really helpful please. My brother has started university to study architecture this year and due to the huge amount of nights he had to work, started going on modafinil. Now that the year is finished and he's not taking it however, he has become aggressive, irrational and rude. Does anyone know if this is because of the modafinil or if there's a link.
t know if I should start taking this drug if it is dangerous for me when combining pot and bupropion. I am 17 and 130 lbs if that would help for anything and am taking a dosage of 150 mg of bupropion. I just want to make sure nothing dangerous will happen if I do smoke, or how much I can smoke, or if there is anything I can do to lower risk of danger like not taking the drug on the days I smoke.
Did you try tapering up slowly to your old dose? Not that trying natural stuff is a bad idea, but it's hard to do correctly and as with anything else takes a lot of work and there's no guarantee it'll work. This can produce euphoria, it can be abused for a high sensation particularly by students as stimulants for staying up all night for exams. There are certain common side effects associated with its use like headache, dizziness, difficulty in falling asleep, drowsiness, nausea, heartburn, confusion and burning, tingling and numbness of skin. There could be certain withdrawal symptoms associated with it.
It is not an over dose and I am no doctor. That is the dosage my doctor gave me in fact he wanted me to take 2 150 mg a day. It didn't agree with me so I stopped... the ringing was even louder. I get ringing in my ears from aleve also , just from 1 pill.,I don't even take that anymore either. Anyway the ringing is driving me crazy so I won't be taking any more of this bupropion sr.
I am suffering from I believe depression I have problems sleeping this has recently started wierd thoughts and its very disturbing, I feel said and hopeless my doctor put me on Bupropion and I felt better the first day the next day I eel over active different? My husband has been taking Bupropion HSL SR 150mg for a few months and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the Bupropion XL 150mg he was taking for a few years before he was switched because, the pharmacy said, they could not get the Bupropion XL 150mg at that time. My husband has dementia. He takes the Bupropion in the morning along with his Aricept and Exforge (for blood pressure). He gets drowsy right after taking his pills and I think it may be the Bupropion HSL SR causing this.
I'm currently on 300 bupropion, along with topamax 100 and still have had no weight losse. I just started the 300 bupropion after being on 150 last week and have already had crying spells but this was the week of my period so I was thinking I just could be "emotional". I have also tried Paxil, Celexa and Zoloft and they all made me feel lethargic, sleepy and in the mood for nothing. Yes, bupropion makes it hard for me to sleep and makes me slightly edgy, but I get the energy and the feelings of motivation. it's really different for everybody. I don't get the tremors etc, though.
All the information I have read strongly suggests that Modafinil seems to have a very toxicity, and what I am doing may very well not be causing me any damage, however I do appreciate that large, clinical studies of such doses have not been conducted. I also appreciate that I am no expert and I am trying to gain information to expand my perspective.
I am potentially willing to reduce my dose, but not discontinue entirely.
Hi, welcome to the forum, modafinil mainly acts by decreasing GABA-mediated neurotransmission. GABA is known to suppress the general alertness and can cause induction of sleep. Modafinil increases high-frequency alpha waves while decreasing both delta and theta wave activity which shows generalized increase in alertness.
Hence, Modafinil Improves wakefulness in patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and shift work sleep disorder (SWSD).
I was prescribed 300 mg xl of bupropion for anxiety that comes from a neurlogical problem in my eyes called Nystagmus. I think side effects of bupropion cause blurred vision and problems with one eye not moving in conjunction with the other which is horrible in addition to Nystagmus. I've lived with this because I was told bupropion is the least likeliest of pills to cause sexual disfunction. Is this true?
