Mircette for perimenopause

Common Questions and Answers about Mircette for perimenopause

mircette

Avatar m tn ve been told that its 1mg of norethindrone is still pretty androgenic especially for those who already have an imbalance. Would Mircette be an option with desogestrel being less angrogenic? Also, any experience with prescribed HALF tab of OC? (ie. instead of Loestrin 1/20.. use 0.5/10 for hormonal imbalance?) Just concerned about initial breakout. Just some background... I have not used OC previously.
Avatar m tn For the past 10 days I have had light brown discharge non-stop, bloating, and bad stomach cramps. I was on Azurette birth control for about a year and then I switched to Mircette(this is my first pack); so I was wondering if the switch could have anything to do with it even though they are basically the same birth control. I am due for my period on Tuesday the 29th. I am very confused as to why this is happening so I'm wondering if you have any ideas or explanations!
525501 tn?1212432217 m not going to be able to sleep for a while so I thought I would share a bit of info about mircette from drugs.com, This is important to me because I've been having slightly more discharge than normal even though no period. It seems to me that if the medicine effects the mucous lining that might be cause for the increase in discharge...from drugs.com "Mircette contains a combination of female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary).
Avatar f tn ve been on Mircette (a.k.a Kariva). Before I started Mircette I stopped my pills about 3 days before I was supposed to right before I was to start my cycle. Anyway, long story short, with this pill all I've had are bad gas and gas pains, some cramping but other than that I don't feel like I'm on bcp. Well yesterday I was supposed to have my period but when I thought it was here, I had mucus like cm and then some pinkish brownish discharge with it.
Avatar n tn I just recently had a baby on Sept 5, I have a prescription for birth control but I am not sure when to start taking them. I think the nurse at the hospital told me to start taking them on the third Sunday after the baby, but I am not sure. Can you help me?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I have been on Yaz for over a year and I stopped around 6/13/08. My husband and I have had unprotected sex and for the past 2 weeks I have had tender/swollen breast, went up almost a cup size, very bloated, unexpected nausea that comes and goes. Since Friday I have had very light cramping and pelvic pressure that comes and goes, when I move around they subside. This might sound gross but around 6/25 or so when I woke up I was very wet.
864502 tn?1382640699 I was told a couple of months ago that I am going through perimenopause. I have irregular cycles. My 1st cycle was when I was 15 years old. I had one cycle in September and it did not come back the next month. I took birth control pills when I was 16....The 1st set of pills made me gain weight and the 2nd set made me sick. So now my cycles are 2-5 years apart. The last cycle I had was in May 2007.
594293 tn?1222655980 lightheadedness (sometimes it lasts for days), feeling jittery or nervous, mood swings, chills, nausea, change in appetite and bowel habits, irregular periods (still monthly though).....that's the majority of it. It had not even occurred to me that it could be perimenopause until a few weeks ago. I went for blood work yesterday so I won't hear results until next week.

Avatar n tn ve been having ovulation pain for the last 3 years or so - 2/3 days of cramping in mid cycle and then again just before my period started. I thought this might mean I'm perimenopausal, since change is the cycle may precede menopause by several years. In the last few months, the pains became stronger and they cramping lasts longer, sometimes from ovulation until menstruation, sometime accompanied by nausea. Occasionally I'd feel a twinge of pain in one of my ovaries.
Avatar f tn I'm 44 and have been very irregular with my periods for the last few years. I'm on the pill (Yaz) and never miss any. I'm still irregular on the pill even though my GYN put me on it to try and regulate me. I sometimes get my period during the "active" pills and not during the "inactive" pills. My cycle would last anywhere from 3 days to 14 days and would be very light to severe. The last day of my last period was May 1st. I haven't had a period since then.
Avatar f tn after 30 odd years of having 1 or 2 periods a year due to pcos, i have been having a period every 18 days for the last 9 months. Im also having bad headaches and bad palpitations too (worse before my period), the thing is, ive had the usual heart test and hormones checked and all is normal! How would pcos afect my hormones and does it make a difference in perimenopause?
377493 tn?1356502149 I have always been a 28 day girl. For as long as I have been tracking ovulation, I o around day 13 or 14. Some of you know from my last post that I have started having strong symptoms around ovulation...sore breasts, bloating, crabby..lol, etc. This month those symptoms lasted right up until I got AF. Today is cycle day 3, they went away yesterday completely. I know this is due to increased progesterone, but am wondering if you think it might be a symptom of perimenopause.
Avatar f tn I think that I am into my first year of Perimenopause that I have experiences with all Symptoms. Did anyone like me as the first year going through it? It seems aging has its price. I would like to exchange notes with people like me so perhaps we could share better tips to deal with it together. As Perimenopause may cause bone lost so I am trying to add in some Vitamin, did anyone take some Vitaman to prevent bone lost?
Avatar f tn Hi - This is my first time posting, but I am certain that I have endometriosis. I have so many of the symptoms (pelvic, lower back and abdominal pain, bowel/gastro issues, horrible cramps, etc.). I am 39, but believe that BCP's helped suppress some of my symptoms for years until I had my last child (I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with IBS). I decided to get off BCPs and since, have been feeling awful. I am back on the pill (continuous Mircette), but still do not feel well.
Avatar n tn I am 43 and I been experiencing almost all of the samethings. I feel like my menstral is on but it's not.
Avatar f tn Also taking birth control (Mircette) continuously for period suppression (ie, only 4 periods a year -- 3 months of active pills followed by a one week break.) I am having trouble interpreting my latest labs with my thyroid and sex hormones... Sex Hormone Binding Globulin - 306 (high) Testosterone, Free - 1 (low) Testosterone, Free Percent - .3 (low) Testosterone, Total - 41 T3 - 229 (high) Thyroxine, Free - 1.5 TSH - 1.22 How is it that my T3 is elevated and the other be fine?
Avatar f tn The average length of perimenopause is four years, but for some women this stage may last only a few months or continue for 10 years. Perimenopause ends the first year after menopause (when a woman has gone 12 months without having her period). Although some of the symptoms of perimenopause can mimic some of the symptoms of bipolar disorder, it is unlikely that perimenopause would precipitate a full blown disorder, such as Bipolar I or Bipolar II.
Avatar f tn I am 45 years old and had a hysterectomy (uterus/cervix removed) 15 years ago. They left my ovaries, since I was fairly young and they were working appropriately. Recently, I began noticing some changes that led me to believe I might have entered perimenopause - - - occasional night sweats, always hot, emotional, etc. When my doctor was running some routine blood tests, I asked him to add the FSH test, just to see if I was entering this phase.
Avatar n tn Hi, Yes, I've known a few women who felt as though they were experiencing perimenopause before their 40's. Loss of libido, or interest in sex, can be a symptom of perimenopause and also a sign of changing hormone levels among other things. To find out if you're experiencing perimenopause, you could always speak with your doctor about the 3 following tests: FSH test; Estrogen test, or TSH test.
Avatar f tn I am surprised at the range of perimenopause symptoms I am experiencing. My mother, aunt and grandmother all had hyperemesis gravidarum. Unlike them I have never had children. Is there any relationship between my perimenopause symtoms and hyperemesis gravidarum?
Avatar f tn I thought it might be old menstraul blood from the 10th.. My period for August should have arrived between the 3rd or 4th. However, it arrived on the 20th!!. My boyfriend and I did have sex on the 29th of June but my period did arrive in July. I am 40 years old and wondering If I am going through perimenopause because I have never had children or If I'm pregnant?
Avatar n tn Hello. I am a 23-year-old female, and I'm wondering if I'm completely too young for perimenopause! For the past several months, I've been having hot flashes and night sweats, my hair is getting frizzy and thin, my skin is getting dry, and my periods have become irregular, not to mention somewhat heavy and prolonged. I recently had some bloodwork, and I was told that some of my hormones were out of whack, but I was not told which ones. Could it really be perimenopause this early?
Avatar f tn I'm 46 and my tubes have been tied for 13 years. I've had 2 d&c's in the last 5 yrs because my menstrual cycle won't stop. Suspect the onset of menopause, but my breast have become very sore and I am producing colostrum. Leaking very slight amount but I'm wondering if this is normal during menstration?
