139792 tn?1498585650 The study findings are in line with prior research on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, or MBSR, programs and suggest that MMFT may provide "psychological prophylaxis," or protection from cognitive and emotional disturbances, even among high-stress cohorts such as members of the military preparing for deployment.

Avatar f tn My neurologist referred me just yesterday to the Autonomic Disorders Clinic, Stanford Neuroscience Health Center, 213 Quarry Road, Palo Alto CA 94304, (650) 723-6469.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just saw this, have you decided who to go with? I had a surgery with Dr. Camran Nezhat, look him up, He's in Palo Alto, close to Dr. Cook. I just did my surgery so it's recent, but so far so good.
Avatar n tn IGeneX labs, in Palo Alto CA. They have a website. Your doc is right, IGeneX has a test that looks in your blood for DNA of the Lyme bacteria, instead of (like Western blot and ELISA tests) that look for your immune system's reaction to Lyme bacteria. That is, IGeneX tests look for direct evidence of Lyme rather than indirect evidence. Like in a mystery story: finding the bad guy's boots is better than finding just his muddy footprints.
Avatar m tn Look up MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) online. I have been getting into meditation and yoga and reading Jon Kabat-Zinn's book "Full Catastrophe Living". It is incredible the things that come up for people when they learn how to 'get still' and tap into what's going on internally. I have been on benzo's myself. Not a huge fan of xanax. I'm now on a generic for Klonopin. Not impressed with that either.

405614 tn?1329144114 One other thing people might want to check out is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, which is a secular, meditation-based program that is used a lot for people with chronic pain. This practice uses a kind of body awareness meditation and there has been quite a bit of research on this method (see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=pubmed&cmd=DetailsSearch&term=mindfulness+based+stress+reduction or http://tinyurl.com/83cltn). Avatar f tn Grasshopper, the first neurologist is the toughest. Trust me, though we accept everyone, the "club" never wants a new member. I'm not sure of my status, how many merit badges to get from Jr. to Full member? It was nice of you to post the outcome of your appointment in a way that acknowledges the difficulty of many, and not just yourself. It was very unselfish, andI hope reflects that you know you are not alone and that we're here for your.
Avatar f tn Dr. Friday also works at the VA in Palo Alto, but you would have to be a veteran to see her there (she does cardiology there, not POTS patients).
Avatar f tn I know this thread was awhile ago but I believe Stanford in Palo Alto does tilt table testing for POTS. They have an Autonomic Dysfunction Program. My son (14) was just diagnosed at Mayo Rochester. I would love to find some support with other parents. This is heartbreaking.
