Metformin is the most amazing drug, it's the reason I'm pregnant. It helped me lose 20lbs and ovulate!! I ovulated on femara but didn't get pregnant thus month I took only my 1500mg of metformin. I've been on metformin since October at 1500mg and never missed a pill. If you stick to it and exercise it could get you pregnant. I just did yoga/pilates I heard it was good for fertility and only started it this cycle and got pregnant. Good luck to you!!

i got a regular 28cycle period when i became active attending gym everyday and a healthy diet, for a year i was always getting my period every 28 days but when i stop attending gym and ate again my period became very irregular again. 2004 i was diagnosed with PCOS, was given provera and advised to have metformin. i got menstruated but still irregular, i did'nt continue having metformin as i felt dizzyness everytime im taking it. Now that im 36 i wanted and decided to get pregnant.

Hi ladies, starting metformin soon and I was wondering what to expect? I've been looking online and it seems to be a medicine for diabetics although I've seen women talking about it on the forum in the past. Stay on the metformin! And I took clomid for 6 months, and nothing. They have a new fertility drug out, ask your doctor. And download the My period tracker on your phone. It tells you when you will ovulate and when your highest peak for fertilty is! And lynleyellen, congrats on your pregnacy!!

I should consider chiropracter if so many ladies say that it does help the fertility...Other than that, I am on Metformin (even though my insulin is ok) but I believe that Metformin also helps the Ovulation. I was told by my RE that if I do't O on first round of Metformin ( I already did 2 rounds of Clomid and nothing), we will move to injectables... So how did you get pregnant? Ok so here goes upped dosage on sunday as instructed. Feel very nausated and have a very hard stomach, not sleep well and the odd pain in my right ovary and occ. top of my leg, these are bareable but still there. As far as not sleeping let me re phrase that sleeping on and off all the time. Does this sound normal. I'm due to up it again on sunday, i've also noticed very weepy, crying at films which nerver happens.

I have psco too.. I have been on metformin forever... It helps alot It makes me have my period every month.. and when I was to get preg he puts me on clomid.. So I take metformin & clomid when Im trying to get preg.. I have 5 kids so i know its works... Good luck !!

what if i am not sure if i took my night dose of metformin.

I have been trying to conceive now since September with clomid, and this month was put on metformin to see if this would help, does anyone have suggestions on anything with PCOS and trying to get pregnant? Vitamins that you could take to increase the chances. I just would really like to conceive and it seems as if nothing is going to work, im now talking 1500mg a day of metformin and 150mg of clomid 5th day of period. please help with ideas etc...

Prior to sending me to the fertility doctor my OB/GYN upped my dosage of Metformin from 500 mg to 2000 mg. I can only tolerate 1500. I made the move up a gradual thing and I take the medicine at night, just before bed and a few hours after eating. This has really cut down on the side effects of metformin. The nurse at the fertility clinic said that I have NO ring of cysts around my ovaries and this is due to the Metformin. It has also been helping me to lose weight.

I too have PCOS and tried metformin and Clomid like RippedonScotch mentioned. The Metformin and Clomid didn't help me and I ended up with a Fertility Specialist as my obgyn could only take it so far. It would be worth talking to your OBGYN about Metformin, it helps a lot of people as does the Clomid. Your wife is very young and if you try those meds you might have great success.

I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year now and i recently found out i had pcos. i was put on metformin but the side effects are so uncontrollable i cant stick to them they make my cycle come on should i sfick to them has anyone who was put on the concieved. someone was telling me to try geritol i think im gonna go to walmart and start taking it as well anyone concieved on geritol is the liquid better.

my doc told me and i researched it. metformin does not only control ur insulin levels it is also a fertility med but even though it helps with fertility ur doc may give an additional fertility drug if u have had no succcess getting pregnant with metformin. u shud also keep in mind that blood test is way more fool proof than a urine test so if AF hasn't *** already a doc visit may be in store. good luck!! u can drop me a message if u have any questions, i will try to help.

PCOS is commonly treated with Metformin and a modified diet. Metformin is not a fertility drug. Your best bet is to see your OBGYN and ask about help controlling your PCOS because you would like to become pregnant again.

Has anyone taken metformin while pregnant? I am currently on metformin but my doctor told me to stop taking them at 9 weeks, but I am scared to bc I dont want to have a miscarriage. Any thoughts on what I should do?

This is the main reason I am having fertility problems, my husband and I have been going to a fertility specialist who is also a well known endo and I've only been prescribed Metformin to take. I have been on Metformin for many years now (for fertility reasons). I think its the best. I am on my 6th IVF (and I hope it works this time!). One of my fertility doctors took me off metformin for 3 of my ivf tries and the results were much much worse. From everything I have read, it seems that metformin is a safe medication and you can stay on it all through your pregnancy (unless you have liver issues).
