Common Questions and Answers about Mesalamine and aspirin

asacol

Avatar n tn During moderate/sever flare-ups I took prednisone orally, in foam suppository as well as mesalamine orally and through suppository. In moderate flare-ups mesalamine orally w/ mesalamine suppositories. My question is - beyond the general risk that HSV presents - how additionally risky is this for me? It is a possibility that at some point I will have a flare-up that will require immonusuppressive therapy. If I was to contract HSV could my UC symptoms become more severe?
Avatar m tn Being how I am getting random muscle aches and hives on my body, and my armpits itch and get hives as well that go away within an hour or two I grew increasingly worried. These symptoms are reported by folks that suffer with IBD as well. I performed a Oraquick test which came out negative at 5 weeks. Then I went and got a Gen 4 HIV 1 & 2 blood test done on Dec 6th 2017 which came out negative.
Avatar f tn Her gastroenterologist started her on Mesalamine (4 capsules daily) and later added prednisone 100 mg enemas to try and get the flare-up under control. Things are getting better and she has some of her strength back. There is one puzzling thing that the doctors are not able to pinpoint. This is an intermittent fever that starts in the afternoon and lasts to the night. In the morning the temperature is back to a low 97 degrees fahrenheit and stays stable until afternoon below 98 degrees.
163305 tn?1333668571 I get terrible leg cramps at night and when I sit for extended periods of time and the doctor told me I have neuropathy and should take this medication for it. I got the med and still have not taken it. A nurse in the family asked me about my water intake. Avatar n tn I have noticed that my asacol is not breaking down and is being passed in my stool! Is their a reason for this? What can/should I do?
Avatar f tn What other symptoms are present? Mesalamine or Canasa suppositories works by preventing the production of substances that cause the inflammation of the colon. The usual side effects include diarrhea; dizziness; gas; hair loss; headache; mild stomach discomfort or pain; and nausea. The sour taste could be indirectly related especially if you have other gastrointestinal issues like acid peptic disease or gerd.
Avatar n tn Dosage should be properly followed and if u are experiencing digestive or renal problems, consult your doctor. Alcohol can increase the chances of a fatty liver and if u feel some type of pain and inflammation in your liver region, then consult your doctor.
Avatar m tn 42 posts/comments and a 15 week negative test result. time to move along ! ! !
Avatar m tn Interesting that LDN shows up in IBD treatment! Looks like a serious alternative to the traditional steroids and immunosuppressives and NSAID's. A treatment that doesn't harm the liver.. I'll definitely be looking into this. I don't imagine that "old school" GI's are big fans of LDN however. We'll see. I'm not a big fan of NSAID sides.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had their cat on low dose aspirin for a long time? Our twelve year old cat was diagnosed with as heart condition, along with other things. The vet says she'll have to be on heart meds and high blood pressure meds for good, and is considering aspirin, also. He's hesitant because the aspirin can cause other problems. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with a problem like this.
Avatar n tn I have read so often that you should not take Plavix and aspirin, but it seems to also be common to prescribe both plavix and aspirin in certain situations. I am worried and confused. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I tried taking aspirin with it and it caused me to have internal bleeding, so of course it was discontinued. Now I would only take aspirin if I felt that I was having another heart attack. The latest precaution about Plavix is to not take omeprazole with it (Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium). Hope that helps, but you really need a cardiologist.
Avatar f tn Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I've had three miscarriages and my doctor prescribed me baby aspirin (same as low dose aspirin) right after the last one. I am now 6 months pregnant & have been taking 1 pill everyday along with my prenatal vitamins since last January. You can ask your doctor about it & see what they say.
189134 tn?1237726277 took pregnancy test tuesday and today went for blood work and came back that I am. Doc told me to take a baby asprin due to my thick blood... has anyone had similar problem with their blood?
Avatar n tn Aspirin, What are the advantages and disadvantages. 75mg should it be taken everyday? This is for thinning of the blood, even if the Cholesterol is normal like 3.2mmols.
Avatar m tn ve already had a heart attack or stroke, or if you have been found by your doctor to be at high or moderate risk for heart attack or stroke, the benefits of taking aspirin can trump the risks. That’s because aspirin acts as an anti-inflammatory and an inhibitor of blood clotting. For those at risk, aspirin is one of the drugs in our arsenal (along with statins, ACE inhibitors, and beta blockers) that can help keep a coronary event from occurring in the first place or recurring.
Avatar f tn I was told to take a baby aspirin with this pregnancy helps to prevent eclamosia and my high blood pressure but its no more than eighty one mg a day
Avatar m tn You might want to ask your doctor about taking enteric coated aspirin. Sometimes aspirin can give you stomach problems and some doctors are ok with patients taking enteric coated tabs to prevent that.
1773429 tn?1378193972 Ok so i checked everywhere for baby aspirin but they have none so i got normal which is 300mg and im quartering it of which ends up been 75mg.is this ok?
367100 tn?1330914725 do the doctor give aspirin to pregnant women? if yes then at what week they give? cos i m 15 week pregnant and i m not taking any anibiotic my doctor didnt prescribe me. is that ok?
Avatar n tn Many pregnant women take baby aspirin while pregnant, some to prevent miscarriage due to blood clotting disorders. Medication is permitted when the benefits outweigh the risks. If it is helping keep you alive then by all means do NOT stop taking it. Definitely speak with your doctor about your concerns. I'm sure they'll reassure you that it is absolutely fine.
