Maxalt how to take

Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt how to take

maxalt

Avatar f tn is this the typical way to prescribe this Rx...as opposed to getting a 30 day supply? Or is this just how this particular doc operates???
Avatar f tn I am so sorry for what you have been going through. I started having migraines when I was 23. They couldn't diagnose me for 8 years because I had no migraine and had vomiting all night (only at night) and abdominal pain. The neurologist did an electroencephalogram and found it was a migraine. I was put on doxepin for a year and that helped but then it didn't work so they finally put me on Klonopin and it went away but then in my 30's it changed to severe migraine and auras.
655875 tn?1295695107 Every morning I wake up with a severe headache/migraine/sinus headache. I'm not sure if I'm making them worse by taking aspirin or Maxalt to relieve the headaches. I wake up and my head is pounding, so I walk into the kitchen and grab the ice pack. I will try and abort the headache with the ice pack before resorting to aspirin or ibuprofen. If the ice pack does not work with in 20-30 minutes, I will take either aspirin or ibuprofen.
655875 tn?1295695107 I've been getting migraines ever since I was a small child. When I was a teenager, I would get the migraines monthly and once in a while due to stress. It wasn't until 2007 before I finally went to the doctor to get some type of medicine for the migraines. When I injured my neck the migraines have become much more frequent and they often occur several days a week and sometimes daily. The migraines now will start from the back of my neck.
1981713 tn?1389860165 If you only use them for migraines, and you don't get them all the time, I don't see a problem with it. Normally benzos are prescribed for anxiety and stress and addicts tend to keep reaching for the pill bottle anytime they are stressed and it can become quite the habit. A migraine is a migraine so there's definitely a right time and a not so right time to take your Maxalt.
1607573 tn?1297975133 My daughter had to go on preventive meds to stop migraines and we were offered other meds than topamax she is doing well on elavil. See a dr so you have something to keep the migraines away.
Avatar f tn I really wanted to know if its suitable to take both.1 mirtazapine per night and 1 maxalt wafer per evening each night. Is this not adviseable?. PLEASE HELP, REALLY WORRIED. thanks.

1577473 tn?1296177286 I wake up with mine strangely and others from scents/stress/tension. Dr. this month has changed my meds 4 times. I take Maxalt, but now he is trying for a prevent..med. This one is Verapamil 240mg daily. Only been 3 days and everyday I've woke up with one, but not as intense. My Dr. has never done a brain scan. Says only 1 in 1000 show anythig wrong. He is a general pcp. Wonder what others on here think about that. He told me last week to go to a specialist in Houston.

Avatar f tn Hello! I am 34 years old for the past 2 years I have been getting nausea with constant headache for 6 days before my period. It's to the point where I'm on zofran and have maxalt for headache. I can't leave my house because I feel like I'm going to vomit but I don't. I guess that's a good thing, lol zofran works. Once I get my period it goes away! Anyone experience this or have any feedback thank you!!!
1030950 tn?1261010513 If it is a migraine, which is probable, then a neurologist can prescribe preventative medication, which is better than using triptans daily... because you are right, it is not ideal to be taking triptans daily, although it is okay to take 2 doses every 24 hours, just not ideal to be having to use that much acute medication.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue. Sadly, the police & EMT's didn't have just cause to bring her to the hospital. I'm at my wits end. Thanks for any help.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with migraine after driving on a cloudy day without sunglasses for an hour and a half that resulted in a terrific headache, sensitivity to light and spotlights blocking my vision. The following day I could not stand up and felt like I had been given novacaine (sp) from a dentist--the left side of my tongue and upper palate were numb. I was given Benadryl, Reglan and Toradol which made me feel terrible by an ER doctor.
Avatar f tn My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.
Avatar f tn I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.
Avatar n tn Really need more information about how often you get your headaches. You should not take any pain relief pills 3 times a week of more, otherwise you will get rebound headaches. If you do have headaches at least 3x a week, then you need to be taking a prophylactic daily med to prevent the headaches. Have you tried any of these meds? If so, I have other ideas for you. And if they are that often you should see a neurologist to see about testing to rule out something more serious.
1577473 tn?1296177286 Hello, I am a 21 year old college student and I have had the occasional migraine all my life. In September I started getting migraines more frequently. I had a really nasty one that forced me to go to a walk in clinic for some immediate care. I got a shot of Torridol that didn't work and a prescription for 100 mg Imitrex. The Imitrex didn't even touch the migraine and I wasn't happy with the side effects.
Avatar f tn Two things: Imitrex in it's generic form is available, and cheaper for you AND health insurance. Secondly, I have had this same issue continuously with my health insurance, and what I've needed to do over and over is get my doctor to apply to health insurance for special dispensation for me. If I need it, I am able to get a 3 month supply of two injections per day from the mail order pharmacy.
1334481 tn?1276697078 Hello Everyone, I'm 22 and just graduated University. I have been having migraines since I was about 7 years old now. However, over the years they have seemed to get much worse. I thought that the higher frequency could have been from my lack of sleep and bad diet that I had throughout high school and college. Now that I have been out of college for over a month now the migraines haven't seemed to subside.
Avatar f tn I went to the neurologist yesterdayand they have now ordered and MRI brain scan set for 3:30 this afternoon. They also gave me nortryptaline and maxalt to take instead of the fioricet that I've been taking. The maxalt worked right away, but I did wake up later on last night with a headache again. I go back to the neurologist next month for a follow-up.
1125820 tn?1265284446 Hi MsConfusedone, You mention that you have been on almost everything, can you be more specific? It would help knowing exactly what you have tried so that I could suggest medications that you have not tried. Also, how many migraines do you get per month? Yes, most migraine medications do work well for most people. But, not everyone has the same success with all medications. For acute treatment of migraine headaches, first line treatment is triptans.
