Medicare coverage depends on doctor's DIAGNOSIS which must be "cachexia related to cancer" along with dose not exceeding FDA label maximum for the diagnosis. I do not know the FDA rules. The "alternative" is just dronabinol, the generic name of marinol. Marinol is synthetic THC, an oil/liquid at room temp, but provided as gel tabs which must be kept refrigerated. Marinol is NOT the CBD discussed on TV for kids.
ways of obtaining this med (ie online, etc)...be VERY careful. What you find on the street and online can often be NOT the same thing....with dangerous components mixed in (or sometimes with NONE of the drug you are actually seeking) to mimic the effect.
For the pain issue...try asking for a referral for a pain management clinic...there are LOADS of different ways to treat and manage pain. While I'm sure that marijuana helps the pain....it certainly isn't the only option...
I want and need to stop smoking pot but want to avoid the w/d's, need to work etc. It's my understanding Marinol can ease the symptoms considerably. Anyone know how to get it? I tried going to the Dr but he would not prescribe it off-label. Any suggestions?
I took 1 2.5 mg Marinol cap about 2 weeks ago. I don't do drugs. The pill was taken by mistake.

I've read about some people diagnosed with ADD taking marinol as a form of medication. I was wondering what effects it would have when taken with adderall, or as a replacement for other meds. What sort of side effects, and/or lack of side effects to make other meds more effective.

My dad takes oxycodone 15mg/ oxycontin 20mg/ marinol 2.5mg/ and ibuprofen 220mg Marinol is synthetic marijuana and it is doing wonders for his back pain. But if this is the case then shouldn't he theoretically be able to go off of the oxy's? I am so confused. Doctors don't tell me about liver or kidney protection and that is one of my first concerns.

I have been treated for Chronic pain post Cancers and therapies, and I am very tolerant to any Opiates. I would like to try using Marinol (synthetic THC) for pain; it helped my pain as well as my nausea when I went through my Stem-cell Transplant. I am in Athens, GA; does anyone know of a doctor willing to prescribe this medicine for pain (when you have not been diagnosed with a cancer...yet?
s on procrit, neupogen, 1/2 dose of pegasus, marinol, promethizine, lortab, and prozac. I think I remembered all of it.
Anyway, the question is about AHCC, my sister in law wants me to get this stuff. Has anyone tried it? Is it worth getting?

I have liver cirrhosis and when I became ill, my doctor prescribed Marinol for weight gain. I had lost 85 lbs and gained 30 pounds with this treatment. My doctor discontinued the Marinol and my weight decreased. I am 6'2" tall and am considering smoking marijuana to achieve the weight gain I am comfortable with. Will this method injure my liver further or have no real effects to it?
