Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta depression

lunesta

Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar n tn Do prescription drugs that are used for people like myself with chronic Insomnia cause depression? Since I have been taken Lunesta now for 8 months I have been depressed and have been prescribed Fluoxetine by my doctor. My friend Roberto has told me about a new product that is advertised on TV called Straight2sleep that he is trying. He said that it is all natural and gives him a great night sleep with no side effects. Do you know of this product and how effective is it?
Avatar n tn I have trouble falling asleep, I take lunesta which works. I’m told I have slight depression and slight anxiety. I hear so many bad things about this drug like people "want to kill themselves" I have never felt like that. My doc thinks if I try this med for 8 months; and my sleep pattern will work again. I heard that when you try to get off this med, the withdrawal symptoms are bad; some people need other meds to get through it. I’m not one for substation one med for another.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
2021910 tn?1339896686 so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
Avatar f tn There is no med that is recommended to be taken long-term for insomnia. That doesn't mean that might not be the only alternative for some people, but for most taking any drug because of sedation side effects will eventually probably stop working and lead to something called rebound insomnia, which means not solving the problem and relying on medication can make it worse in the long term.
266660 tn?1189755834 Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
Avatar f tn Several factors are responsible for a disturbed sleep such as medical problems, stress, depression, anxiety, medications, poor sleep hygiene and declining hormone levels (in menopausal women). Since you are informing that several medications have failed in providing a good sleep to you, it would be a good idea that you try out some cognitive, behavioral or natural therapies first.
Avatar n tn I have just started Klonopin for lack of sleep! not depression or anxiety... however, now after a week I am finding that I am emotional, tearing up a lot........ Lack of sleep is the pain from arthritis in my neck, spine, ankle. Also SLE which often gives us lack of sleep. I also have heart problems, and diabetic. However, I have a very good outlook on life, meditate often, and have photography (hobby) as a very good release of stress.
506273 tn?1260138781 Just got back from the pdoc. He prescribed Pristiq 50 mgs. Says I "can" go as high as 400, but of course we are starting slow. Anyone have any reactions good or bad with this? He did tell me I won't feel anything probably 3-4 weeks, so I'm pretty anxious to get this started. I am also on xanax, seroquel, and he just prescribed Lunesta because I haven't been sleeping and have had no luck with ambien.
1246883 tn?1285547973 You should try Ambian or Lunesta. they are the best out right now. As far as the weight ask for Effexor its for depression but has helped me lose weight.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking the following for FMS: Celexa (depression), Ultram (pain) Vicodin (bad pain), Lunesta (to stay asleep), and now Provigil (to stay awake in the day). I have say, these all are helping, but maybe about 50%. The pain never goes away, only flucuates to bad or worse. The Lunesta is great. I tried Ambien & Sonata, but couldn't handle the side effects. Lunesta keeps me asleep but doesn't make me feel hung-over in the morning.
Avatar n tn Diagnosed with mid level depression and panic/anxiety attacks. I have been on buspirone and it does not seem to work. Doc wants me to stay on that and then take 1 Lexapro per day. Also a sleep aid. I think he will take me of Buspirone when the Lexapro reaches its working period. I asked and he informed me that this is not a lifetime thing and you can get off this stuff. Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me.
736314 tn?1276884623 Here I sit again wide awake. got 2 hours of sleep tonight. Thats even taking lunesta. I can fall asleep fast but wake up right away. I feel like people are coming to kill me and so thats why i cant sleep.
Avatar f tn s original use) and sleep aids that do not cause this risk. Lunesta can be taken every day without risk of addiction. Rozerem can as well and since it was developed from Melatonin even though it is a prescription medication it actually adjusts the sleep cycle as well as promoting sleep. I would ask about those two instead.
Avatar n tn I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg. Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. I need something to help me sleep without causing nausea and to help me sleep like a baby throughout the night pleaseee.
Avatar m tn am taking lexapro, lamotrigine, lithium carbonate for depression, ocd and mod swings. also take others for thyroid, blood pressure, acidity, etc. have been taking depression/ocd medicines for over 15 yers now, but they have been changed. wotk and sometimes exemplified for alertness and capacity for hard work. lately find that i cannot sleep well max.
Avatar m tn to no avail. saw a sleep specialist and he put me on both seroquel to be taken with Lunesta. it all went downhill from there. to make a long story short, this is when i started having panic attacks. So it was time for me to take some time off of work and see a psychiatrist, since that is what the ER physician recommended. My 1st psyc put me on 10 mg. of lexapro and 30 mg of temazepan and it was HORRIFYING.
