Common Questions and Answers about Lumigan more drug_side_effects

lumigan

Avatar m tn Lumigan and latisse are the same chemical (bimatoprost). Latisse is suppose to be brushed into the lashes rather than put directly on the eye. All the medications in this group of glacoma medications stimulate eyelash growth: latanoprost (Xalatan brand name), Travatan-Z, Lumigan and Zioptan.
Avatar f tn hi am a trich sufferer. can i use normal lumigan eyedrops on my eyebrows, scalp and eyelashes? i dont have access to latisse.or is there any other medication that grows hair fast? can i use folligen? what are the adverse effects of using lumigan on eyes and eyebrows?
Avatar m tn regarding Lumigan and others like it, have people experienced growth of eyebrows and hair elsewhere as well like scalp hair? or is there good understanding of the active ingredients, that they can also help brows and scalp hair too? I am not only thinning fair eyelashes, but also fair hair and eyebrows and in my 40s with only slight graying. so has lumigan been studied long enough to know if fair skinned/hair people get similar darkening and lenghtening benefits?
Avatar m tn Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
12845664 tn?1427483649 01% and found that these side effects were lowered. Still though Lumigan is more irritating for most people than latanoprost and Travatan Z. You should also look at how much money you save. Many of the new generics are not that much less expensive than the brand name. Thus you are more likely to have irritated symptoms with the generic than the brand name.
Avatar n tn I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Avatar n tn you have a lot more to worry about then that. So talk to your eye MD team about getting off Lumigan and that entire class of glaucoma meds (prostaglandin inhibitors) and about starting restasis for the dry eye.
Avatar n tn She indicated that was evidence Lumigan was better. I doubted that since I figured the IOP could probably vary more than 1 point day to day. The new comprehensive ophthalmologist I have switched to since the beginning of the year believes the generic latanoprost is fine, so I hope to be able to try switching to that instead of Lumigan in a few months.
Avatar m tn I have taken Lumigan for open Angle Glaucoma for a couple of years in one eye only. In April the ophthalmologist asked me to put them in both eyes. I have no problems with that and my IOP is well controlled. However, I noticed my PVC's have gone up considerably since taken the drops. At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time.
Avatar f tn org The glaucoma drops Xalatan, Lumigan and Travitan Z grown eyelashes in about 70% of the people that use them. The FDA has just approved a formulation of lumigan called Latisse for use to grow eyelashes.
Avatar m tn In addition, the Alphagan affected my low light/night vision to the point I was having quite a bit of trouble seeing in other than bright outdoor light. I also seem to have considerably more cloudiness, floaters and a definite lower visual acuity - my guess is a drop from 20/20-25 or so post surgery to about 20/35 now.
Avatar n tn Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Avatar m tn When I had the cataract in my other eye removed last year I was prescribed Lumigan drops (along with other drops) after surgery. I have green eyes and everything I read worried me about my eye changing color which fortunately didn't happen. I am scheduled to have the other eye done next month and after researching it appears the Timolol could be used instead and I would not have to be worried about eye color.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply. Just one more question. Do your doctors feel the same way concerning the use of timolol after surgery as well? Thanks again.
Avatar m tn Dear sir / medam ,i am at the age of 18 lasik done for both eyes and then RD happend on 20-08-2007,surgery date 24-08-2007 for Lt eye ,with silicon oil,i got better vision but after removin the silicon oil i lost, then they shifted to cornea division, now iam using combigan, lumigan but now i have a white flap (with full of blood vessels) so can u please suggest me on 09347234875.
Avatar m tn I came out of the surgery with increased eye pressure (2 weeks after surgery) and was prescribed drops (lumigan) , but when I was examined 3 weeks later the pressure was normal so I was told to stop the drops. When I mentioned the darker area, he said it was probably the retina adjusting to the surgery. At that time I did not have the lines, but would lee something like water drops moving down a window.
Avatar n tn What you may be referring to is people with very very mild glaucoma and very little money that are on expensive drops like Lumigan and Travatan Z in some cases with very careful monitoring may be able to use the drops once every two or three days. I think it not a good idea and don't do it in my practice. If there's a money problem I recommend selective laser trabeculoplasty.
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
Avatar f tn is there any other test besides that which indicates vision loss?i take lumigan once a night. for the past three years or so. I have only missed three times and let me tell youi remember those times how nice my eyes felt without the drops. no scratchy feeling, no tearing and especially very little red in my eyes. i almost felt that i looked normal. no one looking at my bloodshot eyes and commenting.
757137 tn?1347196453 It won't harm the eye or vision but side effects include redness and irritation on the eye and dark pigmentation around the edge of the lids. Plus the stuff is extremely expensive expect to pay about $120 per bottle. If you stop the meds they stop growning It works on most people, we've used it for years as lumigan for glaucoma. as with any medicine it doesn't work on everyone.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with glaucoma - don't know which 'type'...he's 75...as of tonite he's going to be using Lumigan, 1 drop nightly and tomorrow the ophalmologist will run required tests. We've known this physician for years and have complete trust in him.
Avatar m tn My eye surgeon had told me that typically after cataract surgery IOP is lower about 4 points. However its now 4 months after I had cataract surgery on my right eye and the IOP result in my last few eye doctor visits over the last couple months have remained close to what it was prior to the surgery. I still am taking the same two eye drop medications in my right eye as I have for the past 3 years: Lumigan and Dorzolamide-Timilol (combo drop).
