Avatar f tn It is basically a softening of the brain matter as a result of an ischemia or infarction, degenerative changes, infection, craniocerebral trauma, or other injury. Thus any damage to this lobe can lead to long term memory loss. Certain types of epilepsies and seizures and sleep disturbances too cause short term memory loss along with tiredness or fatigue. Chronic infections too are known to precipitate memory loss. For this you can try yoga and meditation.

Most people return to their pre-bypass level of function between 3 and 12 weeks after surgery.

Avatar f tn s had some tough times in life with the loss of family members including parents. I wonder if this unusual attachment to these monkeys is him trying to keep his family's memory alive? Is he lonely? Depressed? Are these monkeys some sort of extension of him? Lately, he seems to want to interact with the monkey more than me. He hugs it and caresses it instead of me. I've tried to be understanding with an "oh that's cute" mentality, but I just don't understand anymore.

Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..
Avatar f tn My husband had a very large Pineal Meningioma Tumor removed 1-7-11. He has no short term memory. I believe in miracles but medically I feel/know his memory won't every come back. This is a rare situation as Pineal Meningioma Tumors are rare. The tumor was right in the middle of his head above the brain stem. He also had to have a VP shunt. His quality of life is so sad because he doesn't make new memories and has lost so much memory that he once had.

When those receptors shutdown, short term memory fails to become (transition into) long term memory. This happens because of the level of alcohol in Your blood.
