I am waiting out a surgery to see if any hormone therapy will do the trick because I have to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants me to try loestrin 24 for 3 months. My question is, does anyone have experience with both? I hate to second guess my doctor, but I am wondering how a lower dose can do better for me than Yaz? Also, I have been extremely depressed since a month or two after starting Yaz, and I turned down anti-depressants in hopes that a new medication will help with that.
Hi! I'm traveling across the country to see my boyfriend this weekend, after not having seen him for two whole months. We're in a long distance relationship and we usually only get to see each other once a month for a few days at a time. Needless to say, this is a really special occasion for us! Unfortunately, my period is expected to arrive anywhere from Sunday through Tuesday, threatening to put a damper on some uh, plans!
I took Loestrin 20 for three weeks and felt awful- very similar to how I felt in the first trimester of being pregnant- very nauseous, exhausted, sore breasts and craved only marmite on toast to eat!
I have just switched to Jasmine and 3 days in, I feel so much better... All of the side-effects have gone. However, the reason I am on the pill is to try and help my severe PMT (or PMS) so I am yet to discover if Jasmine helps me with that.
Has anyone ever switched from Loestrin 24 to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo? Anybody ever gotten pregnant while on the "lo estrogen" pills? I switched from Loestrin to Ortho because I started not having periods AT ALL on the Loestrin and I had CRAZY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS. I got a blood test but it was negative. Now I am on Ortho and am a little nervous because I've heard and read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill. Any advice????
I am now on Microgestin 1/20 Fe generic version of Loestrin. Anyway what does anyone know about this? Any major side effects I should be worried about...I was reading that it causes bigger breast, weight gain, and low sex drive...is that true for anyone else who has taken it?
I was only on Loestrin 20 for 5 days, and stopped it because i was feeling sick, tired and headachey with it, and that was just 5 days whilst on it, i spoke to my GP about it, and she told me it was normal, and just getting into my system! So I have decided to start Loestrin 20 again next month, i will keep in touch and let you know how it goes!
Help - has anyone had a rash with Loestrin - I have been itching and have rash on stomache chest and back. I also experienced terrible depression that put me in a zombie state. I only used this drug for one week and my doctor took me off. Did anyone experience these symptoms???
Thats most of the cases while using the lolo. Thats why most women loove it. Wait until the last of the month to take a test and if it cmes out negative then you are not pregnant. Just keep taking the pill and if you arent planning on having a baby keep using it . It has low hormones doesn't make you gain weight and its highly effective on reducing pregnancy.
so how did you end up reacting to loestrin? I know it's been a while, but hopefully you'll see this. I'm supposed to be starting this pill soon as well, and worried about the same thing.
Hi, i have been on lo loestrin fe for 1 month. Today i am taking second brown pill, which is also the last one...i feel menstrual pain for a few days, but no menstruation. I am worried! Is pregnancy possible if i had intercourse with my bf (while i was on the pill) but he had never ejaculated inside? It is written that lo loestrin fe is protecting you from the first day if u are starting on the first day of your period. Thats how i did. But why is my period not coming?
per bloodwork, I am only in perimenopause and am on day 5 of Lo Loestrin. Has anyone had success feeling better on this bcp and did it take a couple of cycles to really notice. I get these periodic heart palps and adrenaline rushes throughout the day. I'm still taking flaxseed oil and evening primrose to help control, but am really hoping the Lo Loestrin makes a difference. Has anyone done well taking bcp for their peri symptoms?
I've been on my bc (loestrin fe) for about 7 months now. I've never missed a pill but occasionally take it at a different time. Between 7:10 and 7:30. I know that that's alright but I go on and off with periods. Sometimes it starts with the white pills and sometimes the red and sometimes not at all. I also have bleeding during my second week for about 3 days. Is this normal? Could I be pregnant? Should I be worried?
I've personally never heard of breakthrough bleeding meaning that you aren't protected... You are probably thinking that because sometimes breakthrough bleeding is caused by missing pills or not taking them on time. I used to have really bad breakthrough bleeding issues before my laparoscopy to remove endometriosis, and it would happen with every pill, but I remember I had a lot of it when I was on loestrin for some reason.

I was taking to Loestrin Fe for a while. I took it in the morning with water. I seemed to have a little bit of heartburn, but after I ate something it got better. I also was diagnosed with Endo. I had some problems with spotting for a while with Loestrin Fe so my Dr. switched me to a different pill. It's a generic version with more hormones.
I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for 5 months but my doctor switched me to Lo Loestrin 24 Fe because she thought I needed a lower dose, as I kept getting recurring yeast infections. The first month that I was on Lo Loestrin I got my period, very short and very light for about 2-3 days. This month I delayed my period by a week because I was going on vacation. So when it got to the placebo pill I just took a week of "active pills" from another pack.

I've been on birth control since I was 15 (now 23) for ovarian cysts. About a year ago I switched pills from Loestrin 24 fe to Lo Loestrin 24 fe. Within the year I think I've had 2 periods (only lasting a day or so) and a few days of very light spotting. I do know this pill is the lowest dose of hormones you can have with a birth control pill. Is this normal?
Another option to consider is the Paragard IUD. It doesn't have hormones and the only thing you might get is heavier periods/cramping--but this doesn't even happen to all women. The only thing about low dose birth controls is that you have to take them perfectly. There is no room to mess up, as they're very easy to fall pregnant on if you do.
I recently started taking Loestrin 24. I started experiencing light bleeding during sex which lasts for a day or 2 then stops, but then occurs again the next time. It only happens during/after sex. I've never had this happen before. There was nothing abnormal when I had my check up and was given the prescription. Has anyone ever heard of this happening with this brand?

If your girlfriend was my patient, I would recommend a repeat pregnancy test in one week UNLESS she has her normal period. I would then test weekly for up to 4-6 weeks. If she has not resumed her periods by then and isn't pregnant, she should check with her doctor. If she is pregnant, she should also check with her doctor, of course.
It is possible that the pills delayed her ovulation and that is the reason for the delayed period.
i've been on loestrin 24 since about march and i don't really have any problem with it except that i keep having this wierd vinagar/ kinda fishy smell. sometimes the odor is really strong (the next day AFTER i've had sex) to relatively mild (after i take a shower) but its still there! when i put my finger inside me one day i noticed that the smell was way worse and coming from inside. i thought it might be BV again but the smell is the only thing that bothers me.
Hi, I have been searching the internet and there is absolutely no information on switching from higher doses of estrogen to a lower dose. My doctor is didn't mention anything about how to switch, and is now out of town.
Background: I have been taking a combination birth control pill for about 5 years now. I am absolutely religious about taking it at the exact time each day down to the minute.
