Every single birth control that contains high androgen index progestins can cause hair loss. Stop telling women Plan B and birth control pills don’t cause hair loss. They do. The more doctors that understand this - the less of a problem women will have as they can make an informed choice. Please do your research. I'm 23 and on birth control (Loestrin 24). Normally my periods are somewhat regular, but really light and short. Last month I didn't have one, but I did have some slight spotting before my period was supposed to come. This month my period also skipped. I have no other symptoms of PCOS except some acne on my chin (but occasional breakouts are not uncommon for me, I have oily skin, plus an expired skin product and eating wheat with my allergy may have caused this).

I started Lo Loestrin Fe oral birth control pill on January 14, 2014 after being off of it since Thanksgiving of 2013. Previously I had constant break-though bleeding (more like a period- for even 2 and a half weeks) and cramps. I switched to Microgestin and that made me so sick I stopped, and then restarted Lo Loestrin Fe. I have taken it everyday and have never missed a pill.

Hello. I am a 16 year old girl, and I just recently started taking the lo loestrin fe birth control pill, but not for sex. I started taking it because I have had athletic induced secondary ammenhorea (loss of my period) due to when I started running and eating healthy. I currently run cross country and track, working out hard almost every day of the week. I am taking this birth control in hope of regulating my period back again.

ve gained 15 pounds , had hair loss, no sex drive, and worse of all I get VERY agitated at the littlest things. I am so sad and annoyed lately!! I tried talking to my doctor for two weeks now but he's been "busy" so they wrote him a note of my concerns and he had me pick up lo loesterin fe. ( note the lo and fe)..

I liked it better then Loestrin, since while on Loestrin I had breakthrough bleeding every single day. (So annoying.) But even with Femcon, I had breakthrough during the third week, but I was reading that a lot of women get breakthrough bleeding during the first couple of months.

I am two weeks into my first pack of Lo Loestrin and I had unprotected sex about 5 weeks ago. I had awful cramps and some bleeding today but it stopped. Is this normal?

Help - has anyone had a rash with Loestrin - I have been itching and have rash on stomache chest and back. I also experienced terrible depression that put me in a zombie state. I only used this drug for one week and my doctor took me off. Did anyone experience these symptoms???

I am on Loestrin 24 and had the same issue. I also have cramps the week before, during, and after my period. I have cramps for like three weeks out of the month. They seem to be getting worse too. And I am crazy emotional. Do you have any other side effects?

i was put on the birthcontrol called loestrin. ive been on loestrin for a little over 6 months now and all of a sudden one day i couldnt have sex anymore because it hurt so much. as time passed this pain went away but now as of today just him inserting it for one second and then all of a sudden ever since it has hurt to pee.why is this?

I was taking Loestrin Fe and had alot of spotting the first month (not necessarily while having sex). I also had more spotting in the third month. I told my doctor & she said that the hormones were too low for me. I would let your doctor know and see if there might be a better one out there for you.

I switched from Loestrin to Ortho because I started not having periods AT ALL on the Loestrin and I had CRAZY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS. I got a blood test but it was negative. Now I am on Ortho and am a little nervous because I've heard and read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill. Any advice????

And thyroid checked and other blood work? Or just hormones and diabetes?

Only in the past 20 days, hair fall has gone up. Does hair straightening dry out the hair causing lack of moisture and thus hair fall?? I truly hope that this is temporary as you mentioned!!

I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it, Check your thyroid levels That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism ) You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off

My hair has ALWAYS been so thick and moisturized and healthy and now its dry and frizzy and falling out! Its awful im so embarrassed it literally never stops falling out.

Hi! Loestrin is a very low dose pill, and sometimes after you have been on it for awhile, the lining of the uterus gets very thin and bleeding becomes irregular. OR this could be a one time only thing, especially if you missed a pill or took one late. I would tell my patient to wait and see and if it happens regularly, you may need to swtich pills for awhile.
