40 is a little young to start Menopause, but not unheard of, it can happen. I started @ 49, for 1 year, I would bleed for 7 weeks, then it stop, started, did that for a year. I have not had a period for 2 yrs now. I started gaining weight a little weight in my mid section, I also got very depressed. I'm not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better.
Im in the natural state!! Little Rock impatiently waiting for my lil boy to arrive lol I'M 36 wks 4days!!!
I am age 66. At age 50 my GYN put me on Prempro. I had no symptoms of menopause. He said that it will happen and I can prevent the discomfort of it by starting estrogen therapy. He was right, I have never had any of the things people talk about. What I am wondering, would I maybe not even had the symptoms anyway? I have been on it for 16 years now. My GYN has now prescribed a low dose, but how do I know if I even need it? I am basically healthy.

This is exactly the reason why I stopped taking the Prempro. I had my yearly Mammorgram just this past September 14. I received a call the next day asking me to return for more diagnostic screenings on my left breast only. I then returned two days later for a second Mammogran and then also an Ultrasound same day. The findings showed an 8 mm benign cyst and also several other subcentimeter benign cysts.
Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.
Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels?
Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?

He is head of the NS research dept there and is a chiari specialist along with aneurysms and is specialized in the micro technology that's used from what I've read, and is the most accurate at being affective. I have no idea how far that is from you, but I will update you on him if you'd like?
Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
But in the meantime we found out that his neurologist is retiring shortly after his surgery and even though we are working with one of the best neurosurgeons in the world i need names of neurologists in the Little Rock Arkansas area who specialize in this disorder and the pain and headaches caused by this disorder so we know who to go to after surgery if a neurologist is still needed.
My PCP called today and I have an appointment with Dr. Ali Krisht in Little Rock on March 2nd. He is a world renowned neurosurgeon but I am not 100% sure that he specializes in Chiari. I am considering seeing Dr. Krisht and then for a second opinion, going ahead and seeing Dr. Burson in Little Rock also.
Has anyone used or heard of Dr. Krisht?

Thanks his dr refered him to a pediatric cardiologist in at little Rock childrens Hospital here in Arkansas but they can't get him in to see him real soon so the hospital here where we live is doing the test then Childrens is going to review the test and let us know something.

It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
have one next month none that went on until may had a 7day period then in june it hit I started what was a 23 day period very heavy at times stoped for 5 days then started again. went back to my ob-gyn who told me it was menopause. hormone imbalance put me on prempro I am still bleeding not as heavy been taking it for almost a month he told me it could take up to 3 months to even out in the mean time I think im going crazy cry one minute ok the next along with other issues.
The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
