1070971 tn?1299614110 I was told that I have inflamation in my small intestine after having the pill cam done so I was put on Lialda. It works great. I have actually been able to go to the bathroom without Milk of Magnesia or other stool softeners. I have noticed that I have gained alot of weight in a short time though. About 10 pounds in 2-3 weeks. Has anyone experienced weight gain with this medication? Is this just water retention? I am not happy about it!
Avatar f tn I was put on lialda when I started having an alergic reaction to sulpha drugs. I main question is that I now have a bad taste in my mouth. Is this from the lialda?
Avatar f tn I guess you just learn to live with it. As long as I feel better, I will live with the hair loss, and after 5+ years, I haven't notices thinning...YET! Good luck.
Avatar f tn hi there yes i have uc and bowel sounds are quite normal for me as soon as i eat? then i have to go on the loo !!
Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar f tn The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain. The later after I drink and eat something and do my daily work it disappears for the rest of the day.
1269644 tn?1270486006 Hello everyone! I recently had a Colonoscopy to find out what is going on with me.. I have had bloody diarrhea, dizziness, muscle aches/pains, fatigue and nausea for the past 9 months. The Dr. said that he saw some inflammation in the left side of my colon and took some Biopsies. Is this how he can tell if it is Crohn's or UC? Can't he tell just by the imaging through the Colonoscopy? What can they determine under a scope? Also, he prescribed me Lialda 2x's a day..
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn My son takes a medication that is specific WITH food and also another that says you pick with food or without food, but stay consistent with it. I think Coreg, from my reading, is food optional but the recommendation is that with food is better because it slows the rate of absorption. This is to prevent orthostatic hypotension (this is when bp drops and you get dizzy when you stand up). If you aren't having that problem by not taking it with food, then may not be a worry for you.
Avatar n tn I tried to do the same thing with getting my Lialda medication but they never replied back to my paperwork or anything. I am going to try again this year to see if I can get it.
Avatar n tn This is true for any dye injection procedure, whether with a CT or an MRA.
Avatar f tn Are there anyone thats suffering with crohns disease while. Pregnant i was jus diagnosed!
Avatar n tn You need to see a gastoenterologist, who will want to confirm this with a colonoscopy. there are specific meds for this, all RX - like Asacol or Lialda that will make life bearable again. In the meantime, try Activia yogurt every day, and a supplement of Aloe Vera gel capsules made by Pharmassure - available at Rite-aid.
Avatar m tn I can't think of any reason for you not to swim, with the dolphins or otherwise. Shingles (zoster) can only be transmitted by direct contact, and only to someone who has never had chickenpox. Also, you're taking oral antivral medication, which will further suppress transmission. Have a good time. Dr.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 47 year old male, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 26. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed on occasion that I will have white streaks in my stool. Most of it is a normal color, just with white streaks embedded. Not mucus-y. I've noticed it quite a bit the past couple of weeks. I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily).
Avatar f tn I agree with lizziecee. I'm on Cimzia, lialda and folic acid. When I have a flare to help reduce inflammation too,is to try to stay on clear, or soft diet.Applesauce, pudding, boullion, apple juice. Just give the intestines a rest for little bit. Good luck, and feel better.

Avatar m tn t get it, or their immune systems were able to fight it off without any symptoms. Same story with the possibility of food - some of your group members may have been able to fight off the bacterial infection without symptoms. My husband and I have twice eaten the same food, then he got sick a few hours later, and I didn't. Turned out some other customers at the same restaurant (in both instances) got sick, and it was determined to be the lettuce.
Avatar f tn I have had for several days now facial pain more on the right side and traveling pain throughtout my body. I wake up feeling great and as the day progresses I start to feel run down, fatigue, my face starts to hurt, my lips hurt sometimes, then my head will start to hurt like it feels like its burning inside, travels in my toes, fingers, arms, legs, feet, hands and this will last for hours. Then I will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again. I do have UC as well.
Avatar m tn the side effects occur because of the medication itself, I really don't think that it makes a difference in them if you take it with or without food. personally I've even taken it a few times without any troubles and then a few times I felt like crap when taking it . It's luck of the draw more than anything.
Avatar n tn I have no experience with pharmaceuticals but do have professional experience with the controlled-release systems they are combined with. If the drug is extended-release, it is possible it will never entirely digest. Resin-coated tablets, and capsules using capillary diffusion models such as that of ALZA Pharm, can pass without any digestion of the capsule, and minimial digestion of an active compound-impregnated tablet.
Avatar m tn Yes you can be bloated without having diarrhea or constipation. Try keeping a food diary and tracking how you feel and the degree of bloating. Distension can often come from foods that aren't being digested properly and you have to try to track down the cause. If you have to, try some exclusion diets. Some typical culprits can be dairy products, high fructose corn syrup, and gluten (wheat, rye, barley, etc). Diets high in carbohydrate can also cause bloating.
Avatar f tn I have a history of rectal cancer 2007 with resection. Cancer free now. Last colonoscopy 2011 with some colitis per biopsy & diverticuli. On lialda and gluten free diet for IBS symptoms with good control of painful episodes. Recent hard stools last few days. I also take stool softener & fiber pill which usually keeps things soft and moving. Today I noticed red tinged stools in the am I noticed the toilet water being red tinged when I came home from work.
