Lialda twice a day

Common Questions and Answers about Lialda twice a day

asacol

Avatar m tn Sigh...I tried Lialda for a month...the headaches were insane! My doc switched me to Asacol...my body wouldn't absorb them. So, I'm on my third med...Apriso...$248 for a one month supply! I don't see any real difference with anything so far...
Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar f tn I believe it's possible. I have been on Lialda for almost a year and recently noticed hair loss. Since I am also bruising very easily, it could be more related to an underlying anemia, not necessarily the Lialda itself.
Avatar f tn I am on Lialda as well. I do not have experience any symptoms from the medication. Though, if you do not swollow the pill quick enough, it can start to dissolve in your mouth leaving a bad taste, or if you do not swollow enough water and you burp, you can also get a bad taste in your mouth, haha.
Avatar f tn I was on Prednisone for 14 years and never gained a pound. In February of 2009 I was put on Lialda after a 4 year remission. I gained 10 pounds within two weeks, all on my stomach. Last November, I had another flare that lasted 4 months (I never lost a pound even though I was eating very little). The doctor quadrupled my dose of Lialda, and again more weight gain around my stomach and nowhere else. This is very frustrating.
1070971 tn?1299614110 I started on Lialda in February 2009....gained 10-15 pounds within 3 weeks. I have always been thin, I didn't even gain weight when I was on steroids! I have been working out and watching what I eat, but I can't seem to shed the pounds I gained. I even had a flare-up this winter (I usually drop 10-20 pounds during a flare) and didn't lose a single pound. I can't find any information about Lialda and weight gain.
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
1269644 tn?1270486006 Hello everyone! I recently had a Colonoscopy to find out what is going on with me.. I have had bloody diarrhea, dizziness, muscle aches/pains, fatigue and nausea for the past 9 months. The Dr. said that he saw some inflammation in the left side of my colon and took some Biopsies. Is this how he can tell if it is Crohn's or UC? Can't he tell just by the imaging through the Colonoscopy? What can they determine under a scope? Also, he prescribed me Lialda 2x's a day..
Avatar n tn You need to see a gastoenterologist, who will want to confirm this with a colonoscopy. there are specific meds for this, all RX - like Asacol or Lialda that will make life bearable again. In the meantime, try Activia yogurt every day, and a supplement of Aloe Vera gel capsules made by Pharmassure - available at Rite-aid.
Avatar n tn Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.
Avatar f tn Are Bowel sounds normal? Sometimes after I eat I get bowel sounds. I am taking a medication called Lialda and I wonder if that could be the cause of the sounds.
Avatar n tn Is there a cheaper medicine out there for this ? I can not afford my medicine!
Avatar m tn s for the last 5yrs and am on 5mg of Prednisone/day as well just being switched to Lialda 2.4gms/day (from Pentasa 4gms/day) one month ago. I was started on Famvir today-500mg tid. I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and am scheduled to swim with the dolphins on Thursday. I have completed my first full day's dose of medicine and will continue until the prescription is completed. I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Does the regular Seroquel have to be taken twice a day? I take my morning dose and cannot stay awake; it's getting frustrating. If have I have to take it twice a day, does the drowsiness in the morning wear off after awhile?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear of your recent flare. My brilliant gastro prescribed Remicade a year ago - it entails 6 hrs in hospital as a day patient, every 8 weeks, but after 40 years of "complex Crohn's" as he puts it, it is the only med that keeps me in remission. As far as I understand current IBD protocols, steroids are only used short term to bring about remission, but we need an immuno-suppressor drug (Remicade, Humira, Cimzia) for maintenance of remission.
Avatar m tn I wondered because they only ever had me take the antipsychotics I've taken once a day and I always heard everyone else talk about taking them twice a day. I'm only awake 12 hours or less a day and the current one I'm on has a half life of 3 days so I guess it's kind of pointless for me to take it twice a day.
Avatar f tn Not so much. I used to a lot. I'm mostly vegan though. Perhaps th heavyness of meat? Idk. Ususly everywhere I went I'd be in the bathroom with the worst stomach cramps. This was as far as k could remember I didn't even think it was odd until a few years ago.. After about 15yrs of suffering. Imodium does work okay for the diarrhea.. But it makes me constipated for weeks then but its better when ur in public. Peptobismol did nothing for me. Does your doctor have you on medication?
Avatar f tn This needs a comprehensive investigation including blood tests. Consult a doctor please (who is treating ulcerative colitis) and a gynecologist too. Take care!
Avatar f tn I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily). I am also on Lisinopril (20mg 1x), Rosuvastatin (10mg 1x), and Citalopram (20mg, 1x). In addition to prescription meds, I also take one vitamin D3 (2000 IU) daily, as well as two 650mg Acetaminophen tablets. I tend to pay a lot of attention to my liver, since I had a good friend pass away of liver cancer at an early age.
Avatar m tn First, thank you for taking the time to read and review this. I'm at my wit's end and tired of feeling so terrible. I am 30, female, slightly overweight. I have been suffering from chronic diarrhea for over 9 years. Crampy abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, or excessive bathroom trips with formed stools. A 'good' day means less than 6 bowel movements for me. A 'bad' day can easily be 15+. I have had 3 colonoscopies.
Avatar n tn - B2 @ 400mg a day (it has to be 400mg a day. you don't need anymore than that though) - Magnesium @ 400mg a day (you can take less if it upsets your stomach.. but try to work up to 400mg a day) If the progesterin isn't helping after another month or two... you could try estrogen during the week of your mensuration... it has Really improved my migraine situation I think. I use a gel form that people usually use during menopause but...
362408 tn?1236441081 Is this really possible as people are saying that you can only ovulate once a month around 14 days after your period but i think i may be ovulating twice a month as i also get the raw egg white CM again around day 12-14 after my period. I just want to clarify if it is possible. I had a M/C November just in case this may have anything to do with it!
