Common Questions and Answers about Lialda and yeast

asacol

1070971 tn?1299614110 I started on Lialda in February 2009....gained 10-15 pounds within 3 weeks. I have always been thin, I didn't even gain weight when I was on steroids! I have been working out and watching what I eat, but I can't seem to shed the pounds I gained. I even had a flare-up this winter (I usually drop 10-20 pounds during a flare) and didn't lose a single pound. I can't find any information about Lialda and weight gain.
Avatar m tn Sigh...I tried Lialda for a month...the headaches were insane! My doc switched me to Asacol...my body wouldn't absorb them. So, I'm on my third med...Apriso...$248 for a one month supply! I don't see any real difference with anything so far...
Avatar f tn I have been on Lialda for almost a year and recently noticed hair loss. Since I am also bruising very easily, it could be more related to an underlying anemia, not necessarily the Lialda itself.
Avatar f tn Last November, I had another flare that lasted 4 months (I never lost a pound even though I was eating very little). The doctor quadrupled my dose of Lialda, and again more weight gain around my stomach and nowhere else. This is very frustrating. I have always been a very thin person and do not like looking like I am pregnant when I am not! Has anyone else had this issue with Lialda. How about knee pain? Itching? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
1269644 tn?1270486006 hi--i've been on lialda approx.6-7 months...better than the other i was on..sounds like uc..i was diagnosed in feb 2009..
Avatar m tn s for the last 5yrs and am on 5mg of Prednisone/day as well just being switched to Lialda 2.4gms/day (from Pentasa 4gms/day) one month ago. I was started on Famvir today-500mg tid. I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and am scheduled to swim with the dolphins on Thursday. I have completed my first full day's dose of medicine and will continue until the prescription is completed. I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60.
Avatar f tn hi there yes i have uc and bowel sounds are quite normal for me as soon as i eat? then i have to go on the loo !!
Avatar n tn I was given a treatment plan that included probiotics, Metamucil and vitamins. I have not seen any improvement. I was also tested for celiac disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders. I have 2 children and were blessed with hemorrhoids after their births. For the last 3 weeks I have been experiencing the most extreme flare with the hemorrhoids! I'm also currently experiencing the diarrhea end of the forever oscillation between constipation and diarrhea.
Avatar n tn I don't know what meds you're taking but often the drug companies have assistance programs and will provide you with discounts and even free medications. Years ago, I was between insurance coverage and couldn't afford Lipitor, and I just had to have my doctor fill out a paper, prove my income, and they covered all the expenses.
Avatar f tn I have had for several days now facial pain more on the right side and traveling pain throughtout my body. I wake up feeling great and as the day progresses I start to feel run down, fatigue, my face starts to hurt, my lips hurt sometimes, then my head will start to hurt like it feels like its burning inside, travels in my toes, fingers, arms, legs, feet, hands and this will last for hours. Then I will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again. I do have UC as well.
Avatar m tn They repeated the colonoscopy and again turned up focal active colitis. The doctor there has been treating me with Lialda and Entocort. The number of bathroom trips has decreased to about 5-6 a day, and things are much more 'solid'. However, the pain is steadily getting worse. It's mostly left side, from under my ribcage down to above my hip. I get it on the upper right side as well, but generally not as severe. I would appreciate any insight you might have on this.
Avatar f tn m pregnant yet but I do have crohns.. Im a vegetarian and find it better when I stay away from dairy. Try limiting dairy!
Avatar f tn I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily). I am also on Lisinopril (20mg 1x), Rosuvastatin (10mg 1x), and Citalopram (20mg, 1x). In addition to prescription meds, I also take one vitamin D3 (2000 IU) daily, as well as two 650mg Acetaminophen tablets. I tend to pay a lot of attention to my liver, since I had a good friend pass away of liver cancer at an early age.
Avatar f tn I agree with lizziecee. I'm on Cimzia, lialda and folic acid. When I have a flare to help reduce inflammation too,is to try to stay on clear, or soft diet.Applesauce, pudding, boullion, apple juice. Just give the intestines a rest for little bit. Good luck, and feel better.
Avatar n tn I always have white and light yellow mucus after I have a bowel movement, diarrhea, or after passing alot of gas. I think I have to rush to the bathroom and then all that comes out is bunches of the mucus, stringy like mucus and other foreign looking mucousy stuff. Is this something I need to ask my doctor about--its it IBS? Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Avatar f tn s very stabbing and also I have lower back pain. The later after I drink and eat something and do my daily work it disappears for the rest of the day. Sometimes in between I feel a pinch on both sides but that is not so troubling. I am so feeling dizzy especially in the morning and late evening. Could anyone please help me out with this. It would be highly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have a history of rectal cancer 2007 with resection. Cancer free now. Last colonoscopy 2011 with some colitis per biopsy & diverticuli. On lialda and gluten free diet for IBS symptoms with good control of painful episodes. Recent hard stools last few days. I also take stool softener & fiber pill which usually keeps things soft and moving. Today I noticed red tinged stools in the am I noticed the toilet water being red tinged when I came home from work.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't take the asacol. It actually caused my UC to flare up every time I took it. I thought it was a coincidence the first few times. However there's no doubt that Asacol exacerbates my condition. I have also developed joint problems which I think may be because of all the asacol I've taken in my life. I wouldn't recommend it. Ask your doctor about Lialda or better yet improve your diet. I'm not talking about just eating right.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with UC in late 2007. Since then, I've responded well to treatment via Rowasa enemas typically every other night, and nightly if I have a flare (of which I've had one since 2007). About 8 months ago, I started experiencing abdominal pain that is very difficult to pin down. It doesn't appear to be relate to what I eat and doesn't appear to be in a specific spot (general abdominal discomfort and what sometimes feels like swelling).
Avatar n tn Am 26weeks and 4days.... I had yeast infection and my doctor recommend flagy for me ....
Avatar n tn It will take you a long time, but go through all the threads in these forums and and other sites, checking out thyroid and adrenal problems, anxiety and depression, yeast (candida) syndrome, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and any other conditions that get your attention. I don't think anxiety has to be caused by another condition, although it can be.
Avatar f tn When i applied it..y lady part was on fire!!! It itches and burns like crazy....i hate yeast infections...im balling my eyes out!!! Have you ladies gone through the same thing?
192291 tn?1345400135 Only use the creams for now. It's too early to take an antifungal pill. I have yeast syndrome and get yeast infections all the time so the creams don't work as well for me but I can't take the pills until the 2nd trimester. I just use the creams for over a week.
Avatar f tn Is it normal to have yeast infections ALL the time? And to have discharge ALL the time?
Avatar f tn go to the store and get MONISTAT or Gynlotrimin for yeast infection and try that if that does not work ask your Dr. for DIFULCAN it is a pill form of the gooey stuff you may need a small pad for a day or two it will relieve the itching immediatly.
Avatar f tn So I had sex for the first time in a long time about 2 months ago and got a yeast infection quickly after. I now haven't had sex in about two weeks until the other night, with a new partner and I'm thinking I'm developing a yeast infection again. Could that be? and how do I stop having yeast infections to begin with?!
