Levocetirizine xyzal antihistamine

Common Questions and Answers about Levocetirizine xyzal antihistamine

xyzal

Avatar n tn Xyzal) for my allergies, I skipped it this morning since I was going in for a blood test and urine test, but I did take a dose yesterday. Will Levocetirizine affect the outcome of the test in any way? Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn That's a lot of Xyzal. I take 5mg/day and it's the most beneficial antihistamine I've ever taken. I've taken 10mg before and it knocked me out...lol. If I feel I need more antihistamine, I add Benadryl, but it's not often that I need to do that. My answer: I've heard of people taking 10mg/day for hives and severe itching. I'm not sure how the dosing would be, but I can't imagine taking that much of it in the morning/daytime because it's so sedating.
Avatar f tn She prescribed me levocetirizine. Its a newer allergy medication and supposively the best! Its class B which is in same caterogory as benedryl. I'm telling you I have been through 14 bottles of afrin and have not been able to go anywhere without my tissues. I have taken one so far and not one tissue today!
Avatar f tn Hydoxyzine worked wonders for me (once I got a high enough dose). I take 25 - 50 mg. every 6 hours. I had a bad rash all over my body except my face and buttocks and it stopped the itching and is clearing the rash. I wish they would have started it in Dec,. but it seems with these side effects we are all re-inventing the wheel. The docs seem clueless.
Avatar f tn for 7 months i was on 40 - 50 mg of ultralan DAILY (it seemed to work better than Prednisone), 2 atarax tablets, 3-4 Xyzal (or zyrtec) daily. if i even tried to lessen the dose then my lips, tongue, eyes and throat would swell. the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication.
Avatar f tn Dear community, I've been trying to find a help for a really long time, I would immensely appreciate any help. My problems started more than 2 years ago, while I was in the US for a year (work related) There I had problems with my nose, i couldn't breathe and it was stuffy all the time. I survived with some kind of special nose spray, which helpes me to just stimulate the pain, I was also taking antibiotics, which helped me to get mucus out but the pain always came back.
Avatar f tn I have tried 2 different antihistamines separately, with 2 days in between. The first xyzal, this worked fantastic in reducing the redness in my face/neck, but then I began getting a rash on my elbows and knees. This seemed like an allergic reaction so I stopped. Went back to benadryl, the rashes on my elbows and knees went away but my face got inflamed. So 2 days later I tried 180mg Allegra, and the same thing happened! My face/neck calmed down but the rashes on my elbows knees came.
Avatar f tn She may take an antihistamine like Benadryl for relief in symptoms. Application of calamine lotion may provide a soothing effect. It is possible that these sores have become secondarily infected due to constant itching. Consult an experienced dermatologist. Keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn ENT said eustachian tube dysfunction due to allergies (tested positive for various inhalent allergies) and said to use Xyzal and Flonase. Xyzal made me too sleepy so stopped, and Flonase has done nothing. ENT said it would take Flonase a month to clear up the ETD. The constant ear popping wouldn't bother me if it weren't accompanied by the lightheadedness and brain fog, which sometimes by the end of the day turns into a very bad headache and then disappears.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble. I'm getting an allergy test soon but have to be off the antihistamine for 5 days and I'm scared about that. I get so uncomfortable. Has anyone out there ever experienced this similiar problem?
Avatar f tn They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal. He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful. i dont know what it is and its scaring me because I've never been the type of person that has allergic reactions?
Avatar n tn I've been on Xyzal tablets for 5 years. was given these tablets because I suffered from itchy and runny nose. when I do not take the tablet for more than a day i experience itchiness all over my body especially on the arms and legs. please can you advise whether this is a withdrawal symptom?
Avatar f tn Thanks for replying. My M.D. did give me samples of xyzal which work really well, but the Pristiq was another story. Yesterday was my first day on it, and I woke up today gasping for air, and have had shortness of breath off and on since. My doc just told me to stop taking it and go back to sertraline, however I had already taken the pristiq, so we'll see what happens.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar f tn - the symptoms improve from the drugs, but which drugs? The antibiotics or the antihistamine? The improvement *tends* to say that your problem is not Wegener's. - the phlegm from years ago also tends against Wegener's, I think. Wegener's is a disease of blood vessels, not lung tissue. So why the phlegm? Maybe you have lung inflammation but no infection. So that could explain why the antihistamine might help. Did you ever take strong antihistamines without antibiotics?
Avatar n tn The doctor told me to stop using it immediately after he heard that my body got some allergic reaction toward the drug. The doctor gave me XYZAL-sample medicine- for itching. He gave me four pills and plus a Cholestorel medicine called NIASPAN. He said if itching goes away after four days of using the XYZAL, then I will try Niaspin and see how my body will react. Now, after using XYZAL for two days, my body is still itching, there is no diffrence yet. I got two more pills of XYZAL.
568429 tn?1216770861 Hi. Consider starting a daily antihistamine. I'd repeat it on schedule because once it wears off more than likely you will have a reaction then. I can't even take my allergy shots with out antihistamine in me. I take it every day and once extra (twice on shot day) 30 minutes before my shots. With out antihistamine I do have reactions. You might be having more of a reaction than just hives. Sorry to hear this. When I first started my shots it was hard for me too.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn Hi, You could take some oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications like loratadine or cetrizine and see if it helps with your symptoms. Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions to help soothe the itching. Have you had allergic reactions in the past? Are you allergic to any specific substances?
Avatar m tn Two regimens of antibiotics have proven to be ineffective. I am using daily the generic equivalent of Flonase, am also taking an antihistamine, Advair, and doing nasal irrigation with a neti pot. I have also had a chest XRay, which my physician said was clear. An ENT doctor examined my nose and throat using a camera probe and indicated that my vocal cords were slightly infamed -- but that was about it. Even with all that, I can't seem to shake this condition loose.
