levaquin

Avatar f tn Back in January of 2012, in a report created based on the primary objective of a heart scan, the doctor also mentioned his discovery of "minimal centrilobular emphysema." My primary care doctor didn't send me to a pulmonary specialist because there is nothing (I was told) that can be done about it. However, in the past two years I have now had some pretty bad brushes with bronchitis and now am fighting a nearly month-old issue with coughing and head congestion.
Avatar f tn My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?

Avatar m tn With no improvement of my symptoms from the advice my urologist gave, 5 days ago I went to a doctor who specializes in STD treatment. He took 3 urethral swabs and so far only has results back for chlamydia and gonorreha which are both negative. At our initial appointment he started me on doxycycline 2 times per day for 2 weeks and same regimine for flagyl. With 5 days of these 2 meds and about 3 weeks of levaquin i don't feel any better. Still discomfort in my urethra with no discharge.
Avatar f tn I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with epdidymitis, octilis (sp), and prostatis. The doctor said my prostate felt a little infected. I've noticed some obvious red spots in my stool the last couple of times. Blood? Simutaneously, my left scrotum is sore and swollen for 1.5 weeks. I've been treating it with ice, ibuprofen, levaquin, and loratab for several days. Not really sure if the medicine's working after 3 days. May not be enough time. 38 years old, active, good shape.
Avatar n tn With all that said, in the future, whether he can afford the ER or not, it's a good idea to have any new chest pain evaluated. The finances can be worked out later, the effects of a heart attack may not give any other option. And, yes, caregiver, I prefer Cipro to Levaquin because of the cost difference.
Avatar m tn Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees. In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.
798555 tn?1292787551 Since I get ulcers a lot, I take a medication daily that coats my stomach therefore I never had side effect. You can not drink with Flagyl. Even using products with alcohol in it could cause problems. Everyone herxes differently but I get pains all over in all my joints, chills and basically you feel like you have the flu. When I first took doxy, I would throw up but I don't anymore. Hope that helps.
Avatar m tn Do not take Levaquin for a sore throat. The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
Avatar m tn I could see that you have been a bit over dosed with Levaquin 500 mg ,taking 4-6 tabs per day and for three days. For an infection like strep throat its better to start with drugs like Cephalosporins or pencillins and azithromycin or Co trimox. As drug like Levaquin has more fatal side effects I think its better you switch off to other broad spectrum antibiotics like said above.Stop using Levaquin now.Its not that long that you have severe adverse effects,so better change the prescription.
Avatar n tn To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods . Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec(omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
Avatar n tn Thank you. His fasting sugars have been borderline above upper limits. Family history is reassuring but we will continue diet and exercise. We thought about the lower cord/cauda equina too. But no other dermatomal affectations nor pain or sensory radiations down both or either leg. The bilateral toe numbness began about a week into the Levaquin. His prostatitis symptoms are much improved so we'll discuss with his doc about dose reduction vs discontinuation.
Avatar n tn t take Levaquin, as I had server heart palpitations. I would not take any more Levaquin, until you talk with your doctor. This sounds like a bad reaction to Levaquin. There are other medications to take but you will have to talk with your doctor about it.
Avatar n tn I didn't figure it was chlamydia anymore I was more worried about it being some stronger form of gonorrhea that won't go away. I do drink a lot of caffeine/soda now but there was a point when a doctor told me to drink only water and lots of it. I had about three liters of water a day for about two weeks with not much improvement. As far as I know I'm well hydrated, not with pure water though. I have not had a prostate exam, I didn't know it could help with anything I have.
Avatar m tn Was told I probably had no std and the Flagyl would kill potential NGU / Clamydia if present and Levaquin would take care of Gonorrhea. Other risks he said were not valid with no apparent viral sores on mouth of partner. Took the Flagyl and 4 days of Levaquin and resumed contact with normal monogomous partner. Partner later developed what GYN called a bladder infection with horrible back pains and frequent urination / urgency. She rcvd, Nitrofuran mono 100mg and took several days...
168348 tn?1379357075 mine was on its way to kidneys so had to do big gun antibiotic this time (boohoo) I took my Synthroid this AM and will let the post know out of curiosity if it interacts with the Levaquin today .............................could have been chills from GB not working right still, too ............................grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr this is the *pesky* stuff we can do wtihout right!!!!! (GB literally!!!).
Avatar n tn HE THEn gives me a cream for the jock itch............He prescribed me Levaquin and Flomax but i had a bad reaction to Levaquin after just 5-7 days on it (Rash on one shoulder and weak knees).....After coming off the Levaquin my Prostate seemed to be more sensative and i was more Gassy.and more inflamed. I experienced pain in my underarm Lympnodes and an increase in stomach gas... i return to the urologist and he tells me...i have Chronic Prostatitis TYPE II and III.....
Avatar m tn Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet. I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
Avatar n tn I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar f tn Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection. I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
Avatar f tn I was given Levaquin 750mg qd for 5 days. I am almost 67 years old. Soon after the Levaquin, I developed Neuroathy in both of my feet. My neurologist was surprised, and ordered all types of diagnostic lab work to seek an answer. All labs were either wnl or negative. Do you have any suggestioons for treatment or an answer to how long this will continue to occur. I am a retired hospital pharmacist, and the neuropathy is disableing me.
