arava

Avatar m tn Peace be with you. While I am not a doctor, this is a patient forum, I may be able to provide some help. (The ask a doctor arthritis forum is located here http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Arthritis/show/101) Lefora is a brand name for leflunomide. This medication is classified as a DMARD, a disease modifying drug. There are other DMARDs that may be tried in place of Lefora. Examples would include Methotrexate, Imuran, Arava and Plaquenil.
Avatar n tn i take the leflunomide (arava) but also take pills for the reflux, which does help. I take renitidine i believe it is called. I found it worked pretty good for the swelling myself. I am also on the Embrel, but still do not have R.A under control. I just wanted to say that the arava was the best drug i have taken up until i was put on the embrel. I live in B.

Avatar f tn He has been on a combination of Arava 20 mg ( Hydroxychloroquine) and Plaquenil (Leflunomide) . He has been going severly downhill since January and has lost 40 pounds, has constant mucous drainage that he chokes on especially after meals, and has severe shortness of breath. Can these symptoms be a result of the medications he is taking? Is it safe for him to take two synthetic DMARDS at the same time?

Avatar n tn I recently asked a quesrion regarding a patient with a small rectal cancer that could have been treated with radiation, but the radiologist consulted with does not recommend radiation as the patient had a cobalt implant 40 years ago for cervical cancer & thinks she has had too much radiation. She is 79 years old & NEEDS TO KNOW if there is another way to treat it without surgery requiring a colostomy.
5954444 tn?1377473390 Just in case you are curious, it takes us three to four days to detox a patient and get him/her back home drug free and feeling well on Naltrexone therapy (no opiates). At home, the basic technique is to space out the pills you take on a consistent manner until you take only one at night, then half at night, than every other night and then none.
Avatar f tn After body has immuno response, such as produce antibody and huge amount of hiv specific killer T-cells, CD4 will have slightly increase, but CD8 has more significantly increase. Positive patient has CD4/CD8 ratio <1.
408795 tn?1324935675 Although not as specific, it contain much of the same information and is readily available to the patient and the doctor. This information label was given to me by my GI to read and discuss regarding issues related to anger and depression and the potential for needing an AD sometime during trt. I would hope all doctors discuss this prior to trt, but this may not be the case. I'm also curious what "psychological evaluations" are being done.
Avatar m tn The earlier one was a doctor needing help with a woman patient in Egypt, which also received plenty of daylight. MS is more prevalent in those areas that have low sunlight- like Canada, Norway, Australia, Great Britain, the northern states in the US. Hang in there and hopefully Quix will see you message and respond to your questions.
1652596 tn?1342011626 t have any sage wisdom to impart, there are many many on here who have a wealth of information. I would just like to welcome you and wish you well in your treatment. Which clinical trial are you involved in? I just got the call yesterday for my appointment to possibly get involved in one here in San Diego! am excited and nervous.
Avatar f tn Skull osteomyelitis presents with headache as the initial symptom and then as the areas of brain and cranial nerves supplying that area become involved, patient may present with variable symptoms depending on the same. If you are having any such symptoms, then I would advise you to consult an orthopedician and get MRI of the area along with gallium bone scans.biopsy of the bone may be required to confirm the diagnosis. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and keep me posted Kind Regards.
Avatar m tn At the age of 33, one day I was fine, healthy etc. Went to bed and the next morning woke up with excruciating pain deep inside my r/knee area. Couldn't get out of bed or walk. That was the start of my (disease)? Went to an orthopedist. Got cortisone injection, gave me anti-inflammatories, sent me home told me to rest. Pain never went away, but it subsided a bit. Pain flared up again after about a month, ortho referred me to rheumatologist. More anit-inflammatories for a while.
198419 tn?1360242356 There is also a warning that Aubagio is not indicated for women who are pregnant or women with childbearing potential who are not using reliable contraception. The prescribing information also contains information on how to clear Aubagio from the system in case that is required. Before people begin taking Aubagio, they should have a blood test, of have had one within six months, to detect levels of liver enzymes and levels of blood cells (Complete Blood Count).
703897 tn?1248019974 t think a receptionist should be lying to a patient about anything. Also he should have observed my teeth more knowing that this was the problem, and not keep me coming back to get it adjsuted.
Avatar n tn Thanks, appreciate the information.
Avatar n tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that maybe the oral contraceptive is not the best option for you. There are patches and vaginal inserts that might work better because they bypass your stomach. There are also injectable and implantable contraceptives that are very convenient to use. Starting and stopping birth control can cause irregular bleeding, so that is not too unusual. I always recommend a pregnancy test too though, whenever the bleeding is different that expected.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any good patient information or a workbook to try and reduce risk of forming another stone ?
373367 tn?1246402035 In my clinical experience, if a patient has symptoms suspicious for borreliosis, and has one or more of the following bands, there is a very high probability the patient has borreliosis. These bands are 18, 22, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 37, 39, 41, 83, and 93.
Avatar f tn Welcome and yes you have found the right place. My heart goes out to you because it has to be so hard to know you need surgery, but can't have it. We have SelmaS that is on here and she send's out a lot of sites and information that will help u greatly.. This question was just asked a couple of mths ago. Memory brain I don't remember what they are. I just wanted to welcome you and to let you know your not alone. I have the same worry as you as far as my daughter.
572651 tn?1530999357 Welcome -- you're kind to be watching out for your friends. The usual testing is indeed imprecise and was not meant for diagnostic purposes, just for epidemiological tracking, which means it misses lots of infected people in an effort to have 'pure' statistics. My Lyme specialist used the not-very-good ELISA and Western blot tests through LabCorp, but the tests are useful in the hands of a doc who know the uses and abused of those tests.
Avatar m tn A little more information might be helpful!
Avatar n tn http://www.bloodbook.com/ranges.html The above link gives you a long list of what normal bloodwork numbers are supposed to be. Your physician is supposed to explain why you have jaundice, which is based on what some of those numbers mean if they're abnormal, along with his information from your history and symptoms and other tests he performs. A couple numbers may be off, but often it depends on how they relate to other numbers, etc., as to what they actually mean.
