arava
i take the leflunomide (arava) but also take pills for the reflux, which does help. I take renitidine i believe it is called. I found it worked pretty good for the swelling myself. I am also on the Embrel, but still do not have R.A under control. I just wanted to say that the arava was the best drug i have taken up until i was put on the embrel. I live in B.
He has been on a combination of Arava 20 mg ( Hydroxychloroquine) and Plaquenil (Leflunomide) . He has been going severly downhill since January and has lost 40 pounds, has constant mucous drainage that he chokes on especially after meals, and has severe shortness of breath. Can these symptoms be a result of the medications he is taking? Is it safe for him to take two synthetic DMARDS at the same time?
Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.
since 4 years i have a tiny spot in my lung ct scan doctor says there is a malformation but nothing to worry .is it normal what should i do to remove the spot.

This can be differentiated by a pathologist from a lung cancer that grew outwards towards the lining of the lung. The pattern of growth is also somewhat different. At the age of 33, one day I was fine, healthy etc. Went to bed and the next morning woke up with excruciating pain deep inside my r/knee area. Couldn't get out of bed or walk. That was the start of my (disease)? Went to an orthopedist. Got cortisone injection, gave me anti-inflammatories, sent me home told me to rest. Pain never went away, but it subsided a bit. Pain flared up again after about a month, ortho referred me to rheumatologist. More anit-inflammatories for a while.
I wish I had good news about you donating your Aunt one of your lungs. My Mother received a single lung transplant in 2007. A lung cannot be taken from a live donor though. The lung has to be harvested from a very recently deceased donor. And I so hate telling you this, but getting approved for a lung transplant is lengthy and much is involved. Hello I am a caretaker. My client was diagnose with lung cancer stage IV. It has already spread to the spine, both lungs and the lymph system. Doctors triede Tarceva for 3 weeks but her body had a very bad reaction. For the spine they did radiotherapy. But since she was diagnose 3 months ago she has lost aalmost her voice. she is using oxygen for the major part of the day but doctors don't wan't to talk about time. no more medes will be given and she was reffer to hospice....
During a CT scan for an unrelated issue, doctors found an 8 mm groundglass nodule within the right upper lung. He is scheduled for a follow-up CT in 2 months. The scan also noted dependent subsegmental atelectasis. I have a few questions - does this seem like appropriate protocol? does the atelectasis have any significance? My husband has asthma and was hospitalized for it for several days at one point and has also used inhalers off and on. Could the nodule be scar tissue?
Had a low-dose CAT scan 18 months ago that showed a 3mm non-calcified nodule in the left upper lung, as well as several calcified and partially calcified nodules in the lower lung. Was a 2-pack/day smoker for about 15 years, but quit 30-years ago. Doctor just rechecked my lungs with a regular CAT scan with and without contrast. Nodule has grown to 5mm. The report from the radiologist noted that he did not have access to the original scan for a comparison but said everything looked normal.

Next day I went to my primary doc and they did cat scan.. And they come back and say that my right lung had collapsed. I felt completely scared but so relived that they see what I have been complaining about for 2 years but they say it can't go on for 2 years.. So what is this pain I have been feeling 2 years then? They say it's spontaneous. Any ideas why I wo have this pain? It comes every month like clockwork. Sometimes a day sometimes a few weeks. I'm non smoker 5'3 and 115.
