leflunomide drug

Has anyone else taken this drug for arthritis? I started it several months ago and and seem to be getting a large amount of side affects.I have had upset stomachs with lots of reflux.When I exhale the air from my stomach it tastes horrible...like a decaying tooth.There is a horrible metallic smell consistantly with my stools.I have lost weight.I have constant tingling all over my body.I have had many headaches and low grade fevers.

He has been on a combination of Arava 20 mg ( Hydroxychloroquine) and Plaquenil (Leflunomide) . He has been going severly downhill since January and has lost 40 pounds, has constant mucous drainage that he chokes on especially after meals, and has severe shortness of breath. Can these symptoms be a result of the medications he is taking? Is it safe for him to take two synthetic DMARDS at the same time?

hi is there anyone on the site been on trials for this new med as i have to start this med once i have saw my rematologist apparently its on trial at the moment or has been for a few years it should help with my arthritis as well as slowing down my ms,i started on leflunomide today 100mg for 3 days then 20mgs every day after until i see about going on this new med teriflunomide they are supposed to be similar i read a trial post on another forum and there seems to be good reports on it any info

Hi I have Psoratric A, Rhu a & Fiber myalgia- diagnosed 2011 Have constantly taken Panodol Osteo up to 6 a day, Methotrexate 2 once a week & Cymbalta in morning but Still had pain so Rhu upped to also include Leflunomide 1 in morning & night last 4 mths also Endep 10mg 2 before bed to help restlessness ....still in pain ....so now about to start Humira but I cannot afford to gain weight,, and the forum makes me afraid to take.......as met have a few years ago ...

One article described continuing the drug in 2 patients and their episodes resolved, but most articles concluded that the drug should be stopped. There have been several patients, though that went on to develop Definite MS after stopping the Anit-TNF drug. No one knows, however, whether the Anti-TNF drug actually caused the MS or whether it "unmasked" a latent disease. That is, maybe the people had MS that just hadn't showed up yet.

hi thanks all for your replys, quix i was on infleximab for 5 years and as soon as i reported to them my whole left hand side went numb they stopped it this med could have been the cause of my ms being brought on but theres no proof as my mother had ms, im glad you say its one of the safer ones i saw the research from 2005 and was hopeing to see something alot newer that would be great if you find something newer it has got to the stage that i have to go on something i cant keep getting steroid

It is related to leflunomide, a drug used to treat arthritis. Aubagio can inhibit a key enzyme required by white blood cells (lymphocytes), reducing the proliferation of T and B immune cells active in MS and also inhibiting the production of immune messenger chemicals by T cells.

That was the start of my (disease)? Went to an orthopedist. Got cortisone injection, gave me anti-inflammatories, sent me home told me to rest. Pain never went away, but it subsided a bit. Pain flared up again after about a month, ortho referred me to rheumatologist. More anit-inflammatories for a while.

So when going up against some one with a drug habit you have to remember that it is a learned behavior to take the drug along with the intense desire to take the drug.

I started it almost 3 weeks ago for the RA and Sjogrens and have started to have nausea, hair loss, skin sensitivity, burning or tingling of skin, and restless legs (already had, but much worse now), vivid dreams, and torso pain like a cramping sensation in back and sides. Hi, my question is regarding an intrathecal drug pump and drug testing. The short story is that I've had 21 back surgeries, and after being on many (just about most) pain meds, my doctor finally put in a drug pump with dilaudid. As most probably know, this pump is installed in the abdomen with a catheter that runs to my back and is inserted into the intrathecal space of the spine (where the spinal fluid is). So the medication does not go into my blood stream or cross the blood brain barrier.

I just keep seeing posts that say they drug test mothers and babies at birth. I never saw any paperwork or lab results with my first nor was it ever mentioned. Is this a secret thing they do or random maybe? I would think you would have to sign some kinda papers? I mean i dont care if they test me and baby or not...we're clean...but i just never really even thought about it. I would think if they suspected the baby having withdraws in the first 24hrs.

Hey, is it possible to collect the fumes using some fan and duct system and bubble it through water , thus allowing the fumes to dissolve in water and then send the water sample for drug test? What I would suspect is, if you do not take any drug yourselves,could some one else be drugging you with out your knowledge?, take care.

Asacol is not particularly recommended in patients with renal damage, but the issue is that alternative drug therapies may not be as effective or may have varied side effects. Nevertheless it is advisable to replace it with nicotine patches and one or the other newer drug modalities that bypasses the kidneys to prevent it from further damage.
