i take the leflunomide (arava) but also take pills for the reflux, which does help. I take renitidine i believe it is called. I found it worked pretty good for the swelling myself. I am also on the Embrel, but still do not have R.A under control. I just wanted to say that the arava was the best drug i have taken up until i was put on the embrel. I live in B.
He has been on a combination of Arava 20 mg ( Hydroxychloroquine) and Plaquenil (Leflunomide) . He has been going severly downhill since January and has lost 40 pounds, has constant mucous drainage that he chokes on especially after meals, and has severe shortness of breath. Can these symptoms be a result of the medications he is taking? Is it safe for him to take two synthetic DMARDS at the same time?
No high levels of CMV or Epstein-Barr is not an indication of HIV and neither would skew your test results. 9 weeks negative is a good indicator of what your conclusive HIV test will be.

My doctor diagnosed me with Acute CMV. I have had an uncomfortable feeling in my left side under my rib cage for 5 weeks. It seemed to be there before the other symptoms were and I still feel it three or four times a day for a little while. The other symptoms I had when I was really feeling bad was fever, chills, night sweats, and other flu like symptoms. Since the start of becoming sick I have lost around 10 pounds and seem to be holding at that weight.
I wanted to ask if you have any knowledge on this or if anyone does, i lf we have another child in the future say couple years later, would that child also be disabled and get CMV
And just another question but i understand if no one knows the answer here, if the child doesnt have congenital CMV but gets CMV after shes born, what are the risks there?
Why does my CMV keep reactivating? I have no major issues other than asthma. My CMV reactivates sometimes as many as three time a year. What should I be asking my doctor about to help me?
I got retested two weeks later for CMV IGG and it showed a value of 60. Now two months after my last CMV IGG test I got retested for CMV IGG and the value came 70.

I am really confused. I have done extensive research on CMV. Its effects on the human body are varied. Inflammation of the blood cells, high blood pressure (derived from an experiment done on rats), breakdown of red blood cells.
IS CMV A SERIOUS INFECTION? I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A PAST CMV INFECTION. DOES IT HAVE ANY RELATION TO LOW IMMUNITY PEOPLE? I FOUND THIS WHEN I WAS TESTING FOR ALL STD'S INCLUDING HIV, AS I HAD A POSSIBLE EXPOSURE. I M NOT ABLE TO FIND A SUITABLE FORUM FOR CMV. DOES IT HAVE ANY INFLUENCE ON MY HIV RESULTS. KINDLY HELP.
Got tested for all the major stds including hiv 7 times and came up negative untill one doctor told me to get tested for CMV. Lo and behold I tested positive for it and then did research into my symptoms and the the possible complications of it. Well I then discovered CFS and many of my symptoms identically matched up. I am also afraid that my virus may end up somewhere where it can cause harm (I am thinking of damage to unborn babies and CMV retinitis, etc.) Otherwise CMV is very common, and many people get it as children. I am really confused. These issues are not medical ones, but I thought that with your long experience in the field you may also have smth. to say on the subject. Otherwise just ignore it.
