Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis with sinusitis

laryngitis

Avatar n tn It is usually not the drug of choice for UTI but is mostly used in otitis media (infection of the middle ear), tonsillitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn About two weeks ago, I developed chronic postnasal drip that left me clearing my throat constantly and hoarse by the end of the day. I also had a runny nose with clear discharge. At night, I would wake up coughing. Also at night, one of the my nasal passages would become completely blocked and could not be cleared by blowing my nose. Once or twice I coughed up thick yellow phlegm. Today I woke up almost unable to speak.
Avatar f tn ve had a chest x-ray that was negative. Now it is December, I still have the bronchitis/sinusitis along with laryngitis. I cannot speak at all, still coughing/gagging from drainage/scratchy throat/congested head. So now the Dr has prescribed the z-Pac and has scheduled me with an allergist. I have mentioned the Advair several times and wonder if this didn't cause my problems since it all started within five days of first puff.
Avatar m tn Treatment is anti histamincs, decongestants along with antibiotics. Try steam inhalation along with ambroxol. For laryngitis, usually steriods are prescribed but best is to consult ENT surgeon. Indirect laryngoscopy is done to see larynx condition.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have (for the first time in 14 years) a baaaaad case of respiratory illness (bronchitis, laryngitis, sinusitis)- my right lung has friction (building towards pneumonia) and so I am now on cephalosproin antibiotics plus Robitussin/codeine syrup. I go back in a week for chest xrays of need be, meanwhile the hubby and kiddos are giggling at my man voice. I noticed that my spacticity, hemifacial spasms, facial pain (ATN/TN) and parasthesia seems exacerbated QUITE a bit. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn Post nasal drip can definitely go into the lungs and stomach. One of the reasons you cough sometimes can be from nasal secretions going down the back of the throat into the lungs. I have also had chronic sinusitis cause reflux on several occasions where my ENT has had to prescribe medications because I've ended up with laryngitis and a sore throat from the irritation. It most definitely can happen. However, I've never heard of it working in reverse...
Avatar m tn I'm 12 days into a cold/laryngitis. The Dr. prescribed Amox TR-K CLV 875-125 mg, 2x a day for 5 days for a sinus infection & bronchitis. My usual problem is inflammation after a cold which lingers and sometimes requires prednisone for asthma. I haven't had a bacterial infection in a long time... and not even sure if this is a true bacterial infection. I am a faithful netipot user :) How long should it take for this medicine to work if this is really bacterial?

Avatar n tn Can excessive psychogenic lachrymation cause pharyngitis/laryngitis or respiratory problems? If so, can it also(possibly/eventually) cause any major (as in medication/hospitalization requiring) problems such as internal hematoma/hemorrhaging, infections, MI etc. ? (hypathetical) i.e. pt crying for approx. 8 hrs before falling asleep. Pt coughing bloody sputum after waking, complaining of chest pain (r/o MI). Minor note: dry cough throughout sleep of approx.
Avatar m tn At the same time, I developed laryngitis, an ear ache and sinusitis, which started on the operated side and progressed to encompass my whole head. Pain was more pronounced on the operation side feeling like eye strain emanating from the socket, with an occasional fleeting sharp pain which has slowly reduced. My ENT did a thorough exam and ended up doing a CT and found no infection and ruled out allergies or a cold.
Avatar f tn A person with symptoms of chronic sinusitis should be thoroughly evaluated with allergy testing and an extensive history and physical examination," Dr. Zacharek says. Treatment may include a four- to six-week course of oral antibiotics, oral steroids, topical nasal steroids, sinus irrigation with sterile saline, and other therapies, such as decongestants and drugs to break down mucus. Antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, there may be acute bronchitis with or without laryngitis. Acute bronchitis usually presents with sputum (mucus), coughing and can also present with wheezing esp. when the small bronchioles are involved. Associated gastro esophageal reflex disease can worsen the condition. You need to send the mucus or throat swab for culture, microscopy, staining to rule out the pathogen.
Avatar m tn I just recently had Laryngitis, and now my ears feel as if they have lost pressure, i can hear ok, I know that if you close your mouth and plug who your nose and push, the ears will "pop" well there not doing that, they pop on there own soon enough, but is there any need for ear tubes, because I had many ear infections when I was younger, and the Docs placed tubes in my ears to regain pressure, is there any need for that now, my ears dont hurt, im just asking is there a need too?
Avatar f tn And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis. Avatar f tn About 6 months ago, i had Laryngitis which was extremely painful and was so swollen. 2 months later i had a cold and everytime i sneezed or coughed it felt like being stabbed in the throat. After time it went but i started getting daily mucus build up in my throat and i still get it to this day. So for months i've been having discomft in my throat and itchness inside my ears.
Avatar f tn I had them removed and the consultant said that i would be ok and would not loose my voice but i have been getting laryngitis nearly 3 times a year since. Usually when i have a cold or flu but not always. I go to the doctors and there say there can do nothing for me its just im getting fed up of loosing it three or four times a year, i always loose my voice for at least 2 weeks.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar n tn I've been sick for almost 3 months now. Started with a horrible cough, then a head cold. Due to the coughing, I have lost my voice (at this point I can only whisper). I started feeling better and my voice started coming back, just to get sick all over again. Voice, once again, GONE. After about a month, I went to see my PCP which told me I had bronchitis and laryngitis. She put me on Amoxicilian, Claritin, tessalon pearl (for the cough) and albuterol inhaler.
Avatar n tn A couple days later started feeling better and then I started coughing more and then I ended up with Laryngitis. What can you take to speed the recovery from losing your voice. I am so hoarse and wasn't really coughing much to cause this Laryngitis.
Avatar f tn I used to get sinusitis and or laryngitis all the time untill I started using a Netti pot. My kids have the same colds as me for a week or two, but I cough for a month or more, often just when I'm feeling better another cold starts everything off again. I have given up dairy which helps reduce the throat mucus during my few "well" weeks. I haven't had health insurance for a couple of years as my husband was laid off and only gets small jobs now.
Avatar n tn I have just been diagnosed with GERD laryngitis. Is Prilosec, Aciphex or Nexium best to take for this and what dosage is best? Also, how long does it usually take in order to take effect and for the laryngitis to disappear?
Avatar n tn This is the 3rd time this year i have had laryngitis, it usually lasts about 1-2 weeks on ABcover, i also get a cold 1-2 days after i get laryngitis, i had put it down to stress but i am unsure. I never used to get laryngitis it has only started about 4 years ago. My GP said if i get it 4 times a year I should go to see an ENT, should I go now?
