Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis when to see a doctor

laryngitis

3120463 tn?1342056817 I have been having cold symptoms for two weeks this Friday. It started out as a scratchy/sore throat, then turned into me almost losing my voice (laryngitis), then back to a sore throat, and now it's a hacking cough with mucus in my throat and a little sinus congestion. Would you recommend I see a doctor? It's showing no signs of letting up and I am unable to hear out of my left ear from the congestion.
2020005 tn?1628125976 You have an awful lot going on right now. Any kind of change whether it be good or bad can be so stressful. A new baby, moving, not being able to get out as much. Very stressful things. Hopefully once you get settled into your new home things will calm down. Have you thought about pumping for your baby and asking your mom to watch the children a couple of hours a week so you can have some alone time?
Avatar n tn got a bfp on saturday. How soon should I see a doctor? I don't have any sort of regular doctor now, so where do I start? It's not imperative that I go right away is it?
Avatar f tn Okay on-call doctor told me to take Mucinex DM to see if that dries the cough up. I have regular Mucinex (no DM). Does it matter? The reason I didn't ask her is because all of a sudden she said, "Oh, I have a delivery. Take the Mucinex DM and see if that helps!" before she had to go. Obviously a baby coming out is more emergent so that didn't bother me. But now I'm wondering what to take!
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctors about trying reflux medicine to see if it helps. Asthma can cause a very temporary loss of voice with an attack but not a prolonged case of laryngitis. Take care a feel better.
435985 tn?1249067908 I can not believe that they wont see you!!!! My ob told me to call the day I get my BFP so he can get me in to do bloodwork every two days and to do an u/s every couple of weeks...You really need to see a dr. if only to put your mind at ease. You don't want to be soooo stressed out for 12 weeks for nothing.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar m tn s kind of getting to my head and I just want to know when I should be seeing a doctor or if I should give it a few days.
Avatar f tn I just finished taking Azithromycin yesterday for what must of been a bacterial infection of my sinuses and lungs. It started as a cold. The cold went away but I was experiencing shortness of breath and post nasal drip that just wasn't subsiding. I went to two doctors. The first doctor prescribed a corticosteroid nasal spray (Omnaris). This helped a bit for the post nasal drip but wasn't addressing the shortness of breath or chronic cough that wasn't going away on its own.
Avatar m tn Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to ent the other day he used a camera to check my throat hes sent me for ultrasound scan and a CT scan due to a suspicious lump he says he thinks its an abcess or ulcer but couldnt see how big it was, now curious if it is an abcess or ulcer how on earth can it be removed as I have a few of them and antibiotics have never cleared them ?
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks ago I realized that i was having trouble hitting higher pitches when I was talking. It also feels like theirs something in my throat. I cant sing anymore except in a lower tone without going up. I find my self running short on breath as I talk at times. Im not in pain, just curious about whats going one.
Avatar f tn I still have a lot of mucus and I’ve had laryngitis for a month. My doctor said speaking in meetings all day definitely doesn’t help the vocal chords to recover so he put me on voice rest for two weeks. It’s been a week already and I’ve been taking steroids, ibuprofen and Benadryl at the same time. Today I forgot for a second I don’t have a voice when I woke up this morning. And when I said a word by accident, I heard my voice and realized there was no improvement.
Avatar m tn Feeling sick for more than 3 days with symptoms not getting better is a good time to see a doctor. Feel better.
Avatar f tn You should make one soon. Where I live you have to find a doctor before 12 weeks or you won't have a doctor or doctor appointments..so just make sure there is no certain time limit for you!
Avatar f tn I took 3 pregnancy tests at the beginning of the week and estimated 4-5 weeks now but I can't get an appointment to see my doctor until the 29th. Should I choose a different doctor for a closer appointment, or will that date be okay?
Avatar f tn I am not sure of the cause of the miscarriage and was wondering if it will be appropriate for me to speak to my OBGYN to discuss this. Also to know if I can try again soon to get pregnant?
Avatar n tn When I consulted a doctor a couple of weeks ago, he did a stroboscopy and said that it could be due to acid reflux; he prescribed "Pantadoc". I took that for a couple of weeks and did not obsserve any difference. And then consulted some other doctor who said that medicines might be inadequate and he has prescribed the following: Steam inhalation, Dezacor 6 mg, Mucaingel syrup , Pantop D, strict voice rest, and Enzomac forte tablets.
Avatar f tn I am not sure where you live, but i can tell you that some states do have medical facilities especially in arkansas that are based on your income and some charity hospitals and clinics do the same. Call your local health unit they should have an advocate there that caould tell you the best route to go.
Avatar f tn The doctors suspect low progesterone is the cause. Now which specialist do I see for this problem? Do I see a Reproductive Endochrinologist or a regular OB/GYN?
311765 tn?1206762636 Well my suggestion would be to see a cardio doc. Sometimes "breathing problems" are because of something going on with your heart. I'd start there. I assume that your "Gerd" doc was a gastrointerologist? I'd also consider a second or even a third opinion from a lung doc. Also have you experienced any other symptoms like nausea or headaches, etc? Also does the pain happen ONLY when you play clarinet or does it happen at other times as well? How often does it happen?
Avatar f tn I live in West Central Wisconsin close to the Minnesota border and the Twin Cities. Can anyone offer a suggestion for a good doctor? Thank you!!!
