As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
My son did just get over viral laryngitis that turned to bacterial laryngitis. He was treat with a Ceftin type drug for 14 days. He also to 60mg of steriod for 3 days, could not talk for 9 days. During this he was checked by an ENT.
Yes, he has only been seen by Neuro.
He had a sinus xray last year and a CAT Scan, 11-08. All were clear. He had an MRI in 11-09 when hospitalized for migraine, we went in level 8, left at level 6 apin level. That time torodol iv push worked.

Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed.
She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
I'm currently watching Orange is the new black. It's pretty good.
However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
For the past 6 months in the middle of the night I have woken up coughing (choking like) to find my mouth full of clear like fluid (almost like spit). When I get up and spit out the fluid I am fine. I go back to bed with no issues. This happens 2-3 times a month ..always in the middle of the night and I am always able to get back to bed. I am fine during the day. So maybe I getting better on some level from this black hole of a depressive episode. Today I went to a meeting and did three loads of laundry went to the doctors got my AD dose increased found out I have a ear infection, went to treatment, and just got out of the pool at my complex. For me that is a whole lot two weeks ago brushing my teeth was a lot of work. So I pray tomorrow is a good day also.
My son developed laryngitis about 2 months ago. It is severe so that he can not talk at all. His ENT diagnosed it as Muscular dysphonia. He is seeing a speech therapist, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. He plays Sax in the band at school and can't get enough air out to play.

There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
However, you do not test positive to the living virus so you were exposed but not infected. You should jump up and down with glee now.
Water must be kept out of the ear. You should see an ENT specialist for a full exam, tuning fork testing, audiometry, and a plan to monitor the perforation for closure. If the hole persists for more than 3-4 months, surgery may be necessary to close the perforation.

About 1 year ago I had a priapism episode after a bit of an overdose of Cialis (maybe 40 mg) and alot of alcohol. At the time the Cialis was mostly for reassurance and not that necessary.

I know you can have panic/anxiety attacks without feeling stressed but when the episode started it lasted for 12 straight days. It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc.

restasis rx for dry eye 1/11 thurs 1/30 i started alot of post nasal symptoms by sat i had laryngitis severe by sunday went to er, they said stop restasis. viral syndrom dx. is laryngitis a side effect? i am very sensitive to all rx drugs and antibiotics , i have intolerences so did these eye drops cause this , also on synthyroid for goitors need help, i stopped the drops but i have this post tickle coughing jags no fever no rash ..
Since my youth I have had the odd episode of a cramp-like feeling across my upper back/shoulders when lying down in bed. Eventually put in down to stomach acid. Over the last year had an ongoing upset stomach which the GP has down as acid issues which I take tablets for. Associated pains in lower abdomen he outs down to IBS.
