I am still short on energy and have a lot of post nasal drip., headaches, laryngitis, very sore throat and get periods of shortness of breath. The doctor gave me a prescription for a cough suppressant. He said it's a virus. I do have white patches on the opening to my throat and the surrounding tissue is pale. I've tried a netti pot, ginger and honey tea, garlic, etc. I can't get relief!
Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed.
She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
have a new dr that i will see next week. my voice has change I get hoarse after I talk a lot. I just got over ON and my eye dr thought I had glaucoma? I had a lot of pain in my eye. he took me next door and put 5 holes in my eye to releases the pressure . it was better? but he still cant give me a answer to what it is. I had ON in 09 and it was the same thing I told him that.but he still had no answer? well its still a little blurry but its a lot better. it lasted a lot longer.
Different docs approach things different ways, and if you would post back what meds you are and have taken and about for how long (as in: how many months for each), we might have some comments based on what we've read and been through.
Above all: hang in there! Lyme is seldom a quick fix, but like you, I would be ready for the mop-up and to carry on with life as before.
Depending on how much garlic is eaten when it is cooked and also eating any amount of raw garlic will make the breath smell of garlic.
If everyone ate garlic then it would not be noticed.
I ate a whole clove of raw garlic one evening, at college the next morning the whole room smelled strongly of garlic, so much so that everyone avoided me and they opened all the windows.
it did say possible harmful effect between garlic and protease inhibitors...about to start combo treatment and am sorting out my eating plan...am really looking forward to eating all that butter and cheese, but was not counting on having to eliminate the huge anounts of garlic that l eat!. Don't think l will.
I need your help to understand my laryngitis problem and to get it cured. I have been suffering from laryngitis for over 3 months and taking medication for the last 2 months. When I consulted a doctor a couple of weeks ago, he did a stroboscopy and said that it could be due to acid reflux; he prescribed "Pantadoc". I took that for a couple of weeks and did not obsserve any difference.
However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
ok so i have another question. I had the hpv shot when i was 17. About 2 years ago i had that DNA test thing done because i doc thought i had genital warts. The test came back negative for type 6 and 11 but 16 and 18 came back pos. She said i won't get type 6 and 11 so thats why I'm wondering if this bump on my thigh is even a wart? it has a smooth top and not "Warty" in appearance...?
I made my own home made garlic bread and had to go to bed halfway through my meal. A couple of weeks later I made the garlic bread again (without having realised the connection) and the next day I woke up with a migraine and was in bed for about 6 hours with a migraine! So i am now 100% sure its the garlic.
When I think back to over the years I have realised that its not choc, cheese, red wine or coffee that give me a migraine...its that white little bulb!

I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics.

I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
My son developed laryngitis about 2 months ago. It is severe so that he can not talk at all. His ENT diagnosed it as Muscular dysphonia. He is seeing a speech therapist, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. He plays Sax in the band at school and can't get enough air out to play.

There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
I had a unprotected sex about 3 and half weeks back with an unknown Girl for about 5 mins. Next day I got mouth infection ( just soar throat no fever no flu symptoms) and doctor (ENT) suggested some antibiotics, after which I was feeling OK in a day. I thought it was a strep and asked for a swab test. Couple days later doctor confirmed its nothing. I had tonsillitis (swollen tonsils) before I had sex with her.
It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc.
