Went to Cardio for 6 weeks check-up and he prescribed LANOXIN 0,25mg with high starting dosage (had to take 4 tabs the 1st day). It is now 7 days later and still no improvement. My mother is on coreg .325 and docs just took her off of lanoxin hoping that is causing platelet drop, they aren't sure yet. today heart rate at 142 bpm at rest. Does anyone know or have experience with taking Digoxin or Metoprolol and did it cause you to have a choking feeling? I have been on both for about 5 weeks now and have had this choking sensation for about that long. I have been sent for an ultrasound of my neck and they found nothing. My Internest acted like it was in my head and told me to take Tylenol. Maybe she thought I was trying to get pain meds out of her. That just didn't make sense. I am not in pain.

Atenolol is a lot safer than the digoxin (Lanoxin) they used to use to treat cardiac arrythmias. One common side affect that many people compain of when using beta-blockers (atenolol) is fatigue. Taking any medication for a long period of time poses an increasing risk. I would strongly consider catheter ablation though. It is a very simple procedure.

I am surprised they had you taking Digoxin and Amiodarone together??? I don't care for either drug, myself. I took Amiodarone for 9 months for SVTs. I stopped the drug because of the nasty side effects. The skipped beats were gone by then and haven't returned since.
