Hi and I'm sorry your feeling you've gone backwards recently.
I have rapid cycling bipolar and Adhd but I have had a lot of combinations of medications I have tried, a couple helped me not cycle so often for a time then we found that they were becoming less effective and eventually after trying increases we had to find an alternative combination.
It is an anti-seizure medicine commonly used for bipolar disorder.
Pharmacies often do not always mark on the bottle when they do not fulfill a script. I would not automatically rush to judgement.
I am confused when you say that he is addicted to opiates. Soma is not an opiate. It is a sedative, used for muscle relaxation. Even though it is somewhat addictive, it is not an opiate and does not present the same challenge of withdrawal as true opiates do.
ve just found out I am pregnant and I have been taking Abilify (Aripirazole) and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for the last year, against bipolar disorder, my doctor recommended to reduce it slowly and then stop it. He said that I have taken it so far wouldn't harm the baby. I am still very worried and wondered if anybody has any experience with this. Thank you!
There is an 'Ask the Doctor' forum on Mood Disorders. I go there occassionally and he is really good, and it is one of the few ones of these that is free. I would post your questions to him.
What I know is from doing a tremendous amount of research. I've read almost every bipolar book out there, try to keep up with the research, etc. I am a person for whom knowledge equals power.
Hi, I've suffered from bipolar disorder (rapid cycling) for quite a good few year's (10 years to be precise, though I experienced symptoms at least a good five year's before this)... Over the year's I've tried quite a few mood stabilisers/anti-psychotics (carbamazapine, valporate & Quietiapine... Just to name a few)....
I'm a teenager, and I have all the symptoms for bipolar disorder, I have not been diagnosed because I don't want to take lithium, I want homoeopathic stuff instead. A couple days ago I tried to slit my wrists but I couldn't press down or draw blood. I am at my wits end....HELP!!! Anyone know any good natropathic doctors???
Lamotrigine has been successful in controlling rapid cycling and mixed bipolar states in people who have not received adequate relief from lithium, carbamazepine and/or valproate. It also appears that lamotrigine has significantly more antidepressant potency than either carbamazepine or valproate.
Lamotrigine is also useful as part of the treatment of some people with major (unipolar) depression.
Remember that leaving your bipolar untreated also has risks and side effects, like the fact that death by suicide is pretty high in bipolar disorder. So with meds, you go for whatever option ***** the least (and you can add treatments to deal with side effects, like taking fiber supplements for constipation that comes with some meds). And every med on earth has side effects.
I am just taking the minimum amount that I need to lamotrignine as an off-label additive for major depressive disorder. My doctor says that I am not bipolar because I only needed 25-50 mgs for it to be effective along with the wellbutrin. I used Seroquel as an additive in the past, but I gained a lot of weight and "puffed-up". I think that I am going to go back to the Cymbalta/wellbutrin combo I was on a few weeks ago, let things settle, and try it again in a few weeks.
I was recently dx'ed with type 2 bipolar disorder and, am now on 20mgs of paxil and, 100mgs of lamictal. It has help the suicide feelings I was having, but am still very depressed at night. I have alot of medical issues besides this and, know this is part of the reason for the depression. Is there anythign else I can try to ease up on the depression. I am going to a psychiatrist for meds and will have my first session with a psycologist next week. What else can I do?
My best friend just turned 19 in October 2011, and has extreme bipolar disorder (without meds she has psychotic symptoms) Even on luvox right now, she is quite the rollercoaster. Lately I have been fearing for her life and self respect. She started drinking almost every weekend this past year and more recently, started taking an ECA (Ephedrine,Caffiene and Apririn) stack. (We live in Canada) I am a former drug addict and know the effects of Ephedrine very well.
t stop taking your lamotrigine unless you talk to the pdoc first, just saying these are listed side effects. Lamotrigine is a really good drug for bipolar and side effects usually wane after a few months.
Since you were only on Ziprexa for 4 months, chances are really minimal that any permanent damage was done. If you are not having movement related issues - smacking lips, drooling, etc. it shouldn't be anything permanent.
おはようございます. I was on 6 mg a day for anxiety with my bipolar disorder for 10 years.: 2 in morming, 2 mg at noon. 2 mg at bedtime (6 mg total/day). It's ok. In the USA, it is given for anxiety not epilepsy.. 6 mg/day is highest dose for anxiety. You may be tolerant and require the 4.5 mg for your anxiety. Do not lower your dose on your clonazepam without your doctor knowing about it, if you've taken clonazepam for a long time because you will withdraw.
