Lamictal side effects nightmares

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal side effects nightmares

Avatar m tn I honestly don't remember any side effects with my Lamictal but I titrated my dose up extremely slowly. I was nervous about the potential of a bad reaction to it. I'll follow this post now bc I'm curious to see if anyone else has had the same experience as you on Lamictal. Have you talked to your doctor yet? Maybe something to consider.
1039200 tn?1314915608 I do remember some medications that gave me dreams that were disturbing but the two I remember most were Lamictal (which is not uncommon) and Symmetryl (which is a side effect pill that can cause psychosis so that's completely normal). I did not stay on activating antipsychotics long as I could not tolerate them. When I was on conventional antipsychotics I found Risperdal and Seroquel to be effective and I don't remember them altering my dreams.
1114269 tn?1258684512 Yes it is said Lamictal may not help in the other side of BP and only be helpful in depression. Please dont stop Lamictal on your own but you could discuss with your Psychiatrist about other options regarding adding or replacing Lamictal with other medications but please dont stop meds on your own.
Avatar m tn Well 1st off want to say I am very sorry for all your going thru. I have bipolar & am going thru depression now. I was on Zoloft & weaned off & begin Cymbalta during that time (I was on one of the lowest doses of Zoloft tho) I also am on lamictal 150mg, 5 mg of valium. But also 750 of Depakote ER, 100 Seroquel, 1200 Neurontin. So all my meds pretty much take care of the worst part of my bipolar symptoms.
644988 tn?1236368148 and not being in a deep REM state. There aren't any side effects for my Lamictal, but the night terrors (as my doctor calls them) have started since taking it. They are less frequent now that I am on a stable dose and I am farther than I was in therapy - so I don't know if it's my subconscious getting better with therapy, or the drugs! Oh well! BP is so much fun!! NOT!
Avatar n tn Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
606584 tn?1224853036 Lithium does not cause cognitive blunting (its a non psychoactive drug) and yes it has a long list of side effects - its been around since 1849 and in use for mental illness treatment since 1949 but when you did into the side effects the incidence of severe ones is very small - the most common side effects for lithium are bringing on incipient thyroid problems, dry mouth, increased thirst and muscle tremors.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, I did not find it to be effective. I did not suffer any side effects whatsoever. There was definitely no drowsiness. It is not out of the question that I would go back on it yet again. It is a very, very slow process to get to a therapeutic level, but the absence of side effects is a strong draw. The pharmacist at CVS said you should it at bedtime? And, the doctor said the same thing? Is that right? This is NOT an arbitrary decision made by your doctor. Correct?
Avatar f tn I'm on citalopram just now which are great depression wise but cause weight gain, nightmares and excessive sleep. How were u for side effects ?
Avatar n tn I know vivid dreams, that aren't pleasant, can be a side effect of Paxil, so I would assume they can be a side effect of other drugs. I agree with the above poster. You should call your doctor or pharmacist. Maybe a change in antidepressant would stop the vivid dreams. Good luck.
Avatar f tn meds (Pepcid, Rolaids, etc) did nothing to help and I just had to suffer through it for those 2 weeks until the side effects passed. After that, I have had no further problems with the Lamictal and it does seem to be helping control my bp mood swings. I take it with 20mg Lexapro and am also losing the 30 lbs. I put on with Seroquel/Depakote last winter.
656243 tn?1231291652 from the psychiatrist on there applies. I had extra pyramidal side effects from Lamictal and that's unheard of but my psychopharmocologist believed it to be factual, reported it to the FDA and its now a statistic. And the advanced tardive dyskinesia I had started when I was on a full dose of Lamictal and I asked him and he said it was a "possibility". He doesn't know because I was on an antipsychotic then and antipsychotics definitely cause tardive.
874521 tn?1424120397 I love my Seroquil and couldn't function without it but some nights I have horrible nightmares and sleep walk. I would take these side effects over the lack of stability I would have without it.
Avatar n tn Since Budeprion XL’s introduction in 2006, numerous consumers who had previously been treated with Wellbutrin XL reported adverse side effects upon switching to Budeprion XL, including headaches, insomnia, nausea, and mood swings. Many patients also reported a loss of antidepressive effect.
Avatar f tn The fact that you are also starting a new medication does confuse matters as you don't know whether you are experiencing side effects from the new med or side effects from withdrawal of the previous med. This is why getting in touch with your psychiatrist is the best option.
Avatar f tn Most of the side effects are common to the drug type and Seroquel has less it seems than some like Risperdal and Geodon to name but 2 with bad reps for side effects. All in all it works wonders for me, I feel normal and the side effects are not serious and come and go, I take it with Lithium and Abilify and it seems to work well, just make sure you read the information statement - you can find one here : Hope that helps in some way.
Avatar n tn BTW, not sure if you have tried it, but I had adverse side effects to the generic Lamictal that came out not to long ago and have since read other posts on the same experience. It wasn't even that much of a discount and it was a huge mistake for me at least. Thanks for you caring advice and referrals to other good people here, you rock!
Avatar f tn Keppra has fewer side effects than many other seizure medications, but irritability and depression are definitely listed side effects. For your Dr to completely dismiss it as a side effect is rather strange to me. I would probably want a 2nd opinion.
1134609 tn?1269275800 Yes well stoppping smoking can have side effects and it is know that Chantix can have severe side effects including worsening the symptoms of bipolar. That's not to say it caused it though but you can ask your psychiatrist more when those issues are over and they can make a further determination.
1310468 tn?1274867525 It's good that you're trying to inform yourself so that you know what the treatments may cause in terms of side effects, exacerbation of mood symptoms, etc. It is all complicated, but you're on the track to figure it all out!
Avatar f tn I know you don't want to be medicated but my mom started taking cymbalta last year and she says it has completely changed her life. She doesn't get any bad side effects and the difference it has made is amazing. I dont think it can be taken while pregnant but after you have your baby, if you can't find anything else I would definitely recommend it.
Avatar n tn MY 4 Y/old just dx about 4 months ago with absence seizures (at that time put on Zarontin with horrendous side effects--nightmares, fear, irritability, inconsolable crying, total personality change--taken off after 3 weeks) and now just a few weeks ago with partial complex. I am confused about her symptoms at night--she is very scared to go to sleep at night now, she says her eyes hurt, and appears almost non-responsive in terms of her eyes, and has symptoms almost like a total panic attack.
Avatar n tn I started taking Celexa after trying other depression medication during the past three years. Most of the other medication (effexor, Prozac, Zoloft) produce side effects which I did not care for. My doctor and I finally gave Celexa a try. I was taking low dosages (10mg daily) of Celexa and I was doing fine. A few months back my doctor suggested I try Lexapro.
Avatar n tn We report on two patients prescribed venlafaxine. One developed a broad range of serious side effects after reaching a dose of 300 mg a day, and a severe withdrawal syndrome (including hallucinations) during a slow taper regime. The second had severe discontinuation symptoms during and aborting a slow taper regime, and described withdrawal responses after missing a single dose of venlafaxine.
Avatar n tn I would get extremely angry and could not pinpoint a trigger thought as to why I was angry, not to mention my anxiety had come back (I was originally on Paxil--he took me off of it bc of sexual side effects and because of a recent dip in my depression--I'm beginning to think I was better off on that). I went to my psychiatrist and explained the increased anxiety and agitation, and he increased the Wellbutrin to 300mgs daily and the Ativan .5mgs to 3x daily prn.
607502 tn?1288251140 Unfortunately it's not sold in the Americas or Australia only in Europe. It's weak but has very little side effects and good for anxiety too. it's non interactive with any other drug so very suitable for geriatric pts.
Avatar f tn Dont suppose I'd give up and trying it just one night. Give more time, if you are able to handle the side effects. For me, I do sometimes feel tired and with headache following day, but not always. Trade-off for me as I, like you, cannot sleep. I tried Ambien, but was very spacey (more than normal :)) the next day. And would sleep walk (and talk, and eat) with Ambien. But if it works for you? Maybe Lunesta. I was on Seroquel for a short time.
355169 tn?1196994294 Dizzy spells are noticed as side effects of Zoloft. On the other hand, the electric shock like sensation is known with discontinuation of Zoloft. One of these two is possible. Do you miss any doses of Zoloft ? Is Zoloft working for you ? If it is not, you may consider changing the prescription, of course, after consulting your doctor.
Avatar n tn She was also having side effects of tingling toes and fingers and some nightmares. In Jan. the Dr. reduced dosage to 25mg. a day. Well, she had another seizure on Monday 5/01/06. The Dr. wants her to get back on 50mg a day. Is anyone taking this medication for seizures? She has always been a very outgoing and energetic person, playing in all school sports. X-mas day was the first time she had a seizure. Now she is tired all the time, she feels dizzy if she participates in sports now.
