I have been on Lamictal for a good 4 weeks. Mustering through the nausea and headches it gives me. I am determined to continue on though. It's just that 75% of the time I feel real kinda not like myself. Kinda like watching a movie of my life. I have lost a great deal of my NRG... don't want to work out anymore etc. Don't get me wrong.. their are times I feel great. I just miss the manic part that comes with BP. I will not give up.

However an anti-depressent by itself would not treat the manic aspects of bipolar and could potentially worsen it so you would need to stay on a full mood stabilizer as well (which is what Lamictal is).
combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.
Ive been on lamictal for around 5 months. added to depakote and has changed my life (diagnosis bipolar). i can actually get off the couch.
I have been trying to lose weigth for a while with no avail. Started lamictal: nausea and some light cramping. although hungry, sometimes I can't eat. Am down from 118# to 112# and continue to fall without effort. even eating chocolate.
just wondering if I should be concerned something else is going on.

What is your actual diagnosis? Lamictal is an odd choice of med if you're treating just depression and an anxiety disorder. Lamictal is typically prescribed for people with bi-polar disorder, which is a COMPLETELY different animal.
Besides the Celexa and Lamictal, what other meds have you tried? Are you in therapy?
It's hard to say if the itching is just a side effect or if it's related to an adverse reaction. Most allergic reactions would present with a rash.
Hi. I just started taking lamictal 25 mg twice daily on Monday. I'm already on lithium, seroquel, viibryd, and klonopin. By Wednesday I started having headaches, stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea. Does this go away or does it mean I'm going to have to go off it? Thanks.
s experience is different but I found Lamictal far more tolerable than Depakoate and it far less of an effect as regards cognitive confusion, weight gain and nausea than Depakoate and as well it had a good effect on the depressive aspect of bipolar which Depakoate did not for me. I am on Lamictal 150 mg. I just reached this dosage yesterday. For the past two weeks as I have slowly increased dosage, I noticed that my hands, lips, and eyes were swollen. I am also having allergy-like nasal problems. This morning, my eyes were almost swollen shut. Could I be allergic to this drug? All I was warned about by my psychiatrist was a severe rash.
Whatever you do, do not go off the lamictal because the withdrawal is baaaad! I took myself off it last week and wow! Dizzy, nausea, feel like someone poisoned me. Went back on it (100 mg) tonight. plus I am on perphenazine and sertraline, all for bipolar 2.
My son, age 26 has been on Lamictal for three years for bipolar. Recently the Doctor moved the dosage up to 300 mg. Several months after that he started experiencing migraine headaches. Since then he has been to 4 Neurologists, had two MRI's, a Lumbar Puncture, a Blood patch from the lumbar puncture. He has had Toradol injections, Imitrex injections, been on all types of pain meds. The first MRI showed a cholesterol granduloma in his peatrous appex.

Concerned with changes in mood before even being diagnosed with epilepsy . I've noticed I have fits of anger up to 6 months before being diagnosed with epilepsy . The mood changes come with feelings of agitation , nausea , Numb limbs .... especially when I'm tired or have insomnia . I'm not sure what to make of this since I thought I was a nice person before this an was able to control my self better an able to filter out what I thought an how I reacted to stressors.
I worked my way up to 200mg of Lamictal a day -- and the bad stomach cramps and nausea lasted about two weeks. I was in tears some nights, doubled over with stomach pains and lots of gas -- my normal "anti gas" meds (Pepcid, Rolaids, etc) did nothing to help and I just had to suffer through it for those 2 weeks until the side effects passed.
After that, I have had no further problems with the Lamictal and it does seem to be helping control my bp mood swings.
Hello All, I'm currently going through a mental breakdown. I suffered the same symptoms ( no sleep, can't eat, nausea, crying) to make things worse I went to the hospital like I did before because it's scary having 24/7 panic attacks. They didn't let me stay due to insurance reasons...I ran out of klonopin and am wondering if that is what is causing this. I'm also on effexor xr which I think is making my anxiety and panic worse it's been three weeks with the effexor.
I have been taking Celexa consistantly since it came out in 1998. I am also currently taking Lamictal 20mg. I just ran out of meds again this will be the third night without either and I am not feeling well. I feel nauseous and irritable. I feel sluggish and groggy, and i know after 3 days it gets VERY BAD. I am trying to see if all these things are symptoms of withdrawal or is it all in my head because I know I should have gotten the scripts filled by now.
A few weeks ago, she had a seizure-like episode at work. She was talking to a co-worker, and the co-worker said that Lindsey look like she was in a daze, then stiffened up & started posturing and then she fell. After falling, she hit her head and had to get 2 staples. She was unconscious before she fell and has no recollection of the episode. Co-workers say she woke up at her office and was asked if she new where she was.
