L arginine in coronary artery disease

Common Questions and Answers about L arginine in coronary artery disease

l-arginine

Avatar m tn They have increased the Ranexa 500 mg to 2 x a day and I am still having angina attacks mainly left shoulder pain. I have read several articles about L-arginine being used to increase nitric oxide and that seemed to help control spasms. I am currently on Norvasc 5mg 1xdaily, Lisinopril 5mg 1x daily, metoprolol 100 mg 2 x daily Ranexa 500 mg 2x daily, magnesium 500 mg 2 x daily, garlic 1000 mg daily, evening primrose oil 1000 mg daily, simvastatin. I also have sleep apnea and use a cpap machine.
Avatar f tn I do have small vessel spasms in the small coronary arteries without the disease. I take nitro when needed and L-Arginine for the spasms. Other than that no major illness. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn Metoprolol BID, Imdur, Simvastatin, ASA, Plavix, Vitamin D, Magnesium/Calcium, Multivitamin, and 1 gm L-arginine daily. I have noticed a drastic improvement in angina since starting the L-arginine 4 months ago (1 episode in 4 months versus the usually 4-6 episodes in that same time period).
Avatar n tn One recent study conducted by the High Desert Heart Institute showed the value of l-arginine oral supplementation in combating heart disease. In just 90 days HDL increased by 18% while triglycerides dropped 40%. BP also dropped an average 15% (systolic/diastolic). You can read more about the preliminary study finding here: http://www.healthtechmall.com/announcements/high-desert-heart-institute-study-findings/.
Avatar m tn 1.Left anterior descending coronary artery:- this is a large calibre type ii vessel & in its proximal portion there is a tubular lesion producing a 90% stenosis. there is diffuse plaquing in the mid portion producing 30-40% stenosis.Distal LAD has no significant stenotic lesions. D1 & D2 are medium calibre disease free vessels. 2.Left Circumflex Artery: this a medium calibre non dominant vessel.the L Cx in the AV groove is subtotally occluded with sluggish flow in OM2.
Avatar n tn Pain in the left side of the chest that radiates into the neck could be from coronary artery disease, so you should see your doctor (and/or a cardiologist) for evaluation. This will likely include an ECG, echocardiogram, and possibly a stress test. Other things could be heartburn, musculoskeletal pain, or pleuritis (recent viral infection?
Avatar n tn Cocaine use and cigarette smoking can cause severe spasm of the arteries, and can cause the heart to work harder. In many people, coronary artery spasm may occur without any other heart risk factors (such as smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol). Treatment of coronary artery spasms may include medications such as nitrates, calcium channel blockers and 1-arginine, which may reduce the risk of recurrence.
1677369 tn?1304526277 I am 47, have had 25 heart caths since nov 06,three heart attacks, three stents in the LAD,have three leaky valves, small artery dz, chf, and coronary art.dz. I have extreme chest pain and have spells of blacking out. they have done the halters, all that jazz, and now when i cant take it any more and go to to the Dr. or the hospital, they check me and then come off with " well you know you have small artery dz".
Avatar m tn 2.5 mm sized non dominant artery with diffuse artheromatous disease for length of 37 mm with multifocal blocks and patchy contrast opacification Right coronary artery: dominant 3.6 mm sized artery with focal significant (>70%) stenosis, distal to 1st RV branch;secondary to concentric mixed wall plaque, which extens for length of 7 mm. Rest of RCA is normal. PDA/plv branches:normal. Kindly suggest should I go for angioplasty .
Avatar m tn Nutrition for Optimal Wellness | Jessica Patella, ND | Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and worldwide (1). Coronary heart disease accounts for approximately 35% of all cardiovascular deaths and 10.5% of all deaths worldwide (2). Most risk factors of coronary heart disease are changeable, meaning coronary heart disease is a largely preventable disease (3). Omega-3 oils have been shown to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, but how much is enough?
Avatar n tn But, my father has no pain (Angina), no fatigue and other common symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease. He’s perfectly alright. Also, his Left coronary artery is completely Normal and another Non-Dominant artery is 30% blocked, but, other parallel branches are normal. Doctor suggested that Angioplasty and Stenting may cure this and may not be able to cure. He has no problems at all. Should he go for Stent implantation? Is it risky? His Ejection Fraction is 60%.
Avatar f tn Any damage to our hearts is serious, and I have also had a stent become blocked because I had done nothing to actually treat my coronary artery disease. If you do a web search for "plant-based coronary diet" and spend some time researching and learning, you will find the things I am now doing that have begun making a tremendous difference for me.
Avatar m tn I can tell you now that having a cholesterol level of 100 or 400 will still result in artery disease once the initial process starts. Cells are cells and they will get jammed in the artery wall. Our own immune system destroys any hope of resolving the problem because they consume those trapped cells, then die in the artery wall becoming foam cells. If we could somehow stop the immune response, it is believed that HDL will likely be signaled to empty the trapped lipids of fat.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the information I do have small vessel spasms in my coronary arteries without the disease. I do take L-Arginine I guess not enough. I wish I could take a calcium channel blocker but I can't it reduces my blood pressure to the point where I'm on the verge of passing out. Thanks.
Avatar m tn If you have carotid artery disease, you probably also have severe coronary artery disease. So, the risk factors for carotid artery disease are similar to those for coronary artery disease. The risks are the same but to identify the degree of occlusion with one group with another group at a different body location may not be very reliable. The risk are high levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides in the blood.
Avatar m tn how quickly does coronary artery disease develop? Do heart attacks occur without coronary artery disease?? im 24 and worry so much about my heart. i do have generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. i was running 12 miles a week and lifting weights but i am afraid to now. i have a poor diet and use tobacco dip a can a day keep one dip in for about 15 min.
Avatar n tn Why does a calcified 100% blockage of a coronary artery result in tissue damage the same as an MI?

Avatar n tn Does a score of 308 on a cardiac calcium scoring test indicate coronary artery disease?
Avatar n tn If you're like most people, you think that heart disease is a problem for others. But heart disease is the number one killer in the U.S. It is also a major cause of disability. There are many different forms of heart disease. The most common cause of heart disease is narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself. This is called coronary artery disease and happens slowly over time. It's the major reason people have heart attacks.
