My child has had a g-tube for 6 years because of the ketogenic diet in which she is coming off now, she eats everything, no problem with swallowing, she drinks a whole can of pop at times but how do I get her to drink her whole fluid alotment of 1500ml a day? Or will she pick it up once I can offer her a variety of drinks?

My doctors finally agreed that I need a feeding tube, but the problem is I've been kind of obsessed with them for 4 years now prior to my current issues. I have a lot of GI issues and a lot of sensory issues with food. I prefer blended and pureed food and liquids. However with MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), most of the foods I like to have are high histamines.
She is on a ketogenic diet to help with the Lyme, so she gets low carbs, no sugar or processed foods, no dyed foods, no grains.
I have called her pediatrician and scheduled an appointment to evaluate her, but thought I would ask here as well, because it'll be two weeks before they can see her.

May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.

eventually she works up to 60ml consistently on her feeding while they still force another 30-35 with the ng tube..the antibiotic course they had run on her for seven days was all well and done..she went consistently taking 60 ml a feeding and did it 6 of 8 feeding..then abruptly @ day 11 she began to vomit 3 feedings up in a row..they then put her under a battery of test for lower gi upper gi AND find nothing except she had poop not impacted in her but plenty to say hmm..
My Dad has been on a feeding tube for almost a year. He had esophagus cancer and they removed it and he is now cancer free. My question is why he is so tired all the time ? and what kind of quality of life he can have? He does not have much interest in the things he used to enjoy.It makes me very sad to hear him like this. He lives in another state, so I do not get to see him.
He has to be awakened to continue feeding and one of the nurses mentioned that she was going to speak with the doctor about a feeding tube. My daughter-in-law is scared. Given your current situation and your extremely high blood sugars, if you want to reduce then using diet, then a very low carb diet / ketogenic diet would be the way to go. This diet however, may still not be enough to get your sugars down and you may still need insulin / other meds.
