6990909 tn?1435275816 Has anybody tried a ketogenic diet for health issues? I'm just trying to find holistic ways to deal with RA. I have tried focusing on foods with anti-inflammatory properties but am continuing the search. Thanks for your input!
Avatar m tn I guess I questioning myself, if I should have gone to someone else instead of sticking with the head EP at Hopkins. You like to think the Johns Hopkins has some of the best in their fields. Of course there is always that percentage that it just does not work on. Did you ever discuss actual surgery? Although they do not usually do that just for Afib. BTW, did you ever get tested for sleep apena? Apparently there is a correlation between the two. My test said I did not have sleep apnea.

Avatar f tn It is with Dr. Weingart of Johns Hopkins. I have seen three neurosurgeons in one weekend plus two in my own state of Florida and he was by far the right choice for me. He is quiet but very nice and spoke to me for 40 minutes, did a neurological exam, looked at my films and really knew a lot about the latest research etc. He didn't pressure me into surgery and will be using a new technique to protect the dura patch which is a small titanium plate to secure everything. I guess Dr.
Avatar f tn Thank you, rumpled! I asked my neuro-endo at Johns Hopkins and he said that there is a OB/GYNs team at Johns Hopkins that deal with high risk pregnancies but I'm scared to go there because my regular office visit is billed as out patient visit at Johns Hopkins in addition to co-pay and hospital fee.
Avatar n tn HI: I work in Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I just read your question. Your symptoms are highly suggestive of Parkinson's and not of medication side effects. The two meds you mentioned are used to help reduce the tremors associated with Parkinson's, Essential tremor, and Dystonia. It would be advisable for you to seek a neurological evaluation.
Avatar f tn Thank you! I will look to see how far they are from me. I live in PA but my insurance is out of MD. At this point, travelling is a small price to pay. I had actually considered Johns Hopkins, so it's good to know that I shouldn't waste my time. Anyone have experience with the endo group at Union Memorial or drs other than endos?
Avatar f tn So so sorry that you are going thru this....i think the red flags were thrown all over the field on this one my friend but the great news is that at least you see them and can do something about it.....John Hopkins from my understanding is one of the most progressive and best in the world so sounds like you are choosing well.....don't give up hope my friend...with medicine the way it is today your resolution may just be around the next turn....and thats horrible about the nurse googling.....

Avatar f tn The best advice I can provide is that you and your doctors seek consultation with a group of physicians who have engaged in research and reported on their experience with this disease. One such group is at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore. Contact information follows. Orden, Roy Anthony. Timble, Hersha. Saini, Sarbjit S. Avatar m tn Johns Hopkins is an excellent hospital...there is also another one in the Philly/South Jersey area .... I cannot think of the name off hand. Research the surgeon, make certain the doctor is a board certified GYN/oncologist. They have 3 years additional training and survival rates tend to be a bit better when the surgery is performed by a board certified GYN/oncologist. Have the ascites been biopsied? Quite often, ascites come back with cancer cells.
Avatar f tn If you do find that to be the case, there is a specialist at Union Memorial Hospital (I know--compared to Johns Hopkins--seems like a definite step down, but this specialist does have several publications in peer reviewed journals). Oh, I should say, if you're not familiar with Union Memorial Hospital, it's about a block away from Johns Hopkins' undergraduate (Homewood) campus.
