keppra side effects hair loss

It is a side effect of Depakote. It's a difficult drug with a lot of side effects that a lot of people find hard to stay one, especially those who are given it for things other than seizures. It does away if you stop taking it. I don't know what collagen would do for hair loss. You can try a multivitamin or a multi made especially for the hair, such as Ultra Hair by Nature's Plus, just for one. Biotin is especially useful for hair.

side effects of Keppra seem to contradict what our goals for mom are....memory loss, mood changes, mental changes and vision changes among others. Is Keppra safe to use for this (it is not being used with any other seizure medication....just by itself)? We want to wean her off, but the doctor is wanting to keep her on it.

My son is 25 and has seizure disorder. This past Thanksgiving, he had a total of 5 seizures over 24 hours necessitating a hospital visit and stay. They put him on a third seizure medication (Lamotrigine). I spoke with a neurologist at USF who didn't like that a 3rd medication was added before his previous two were maxed out--he was already on Keppra (max dosage) and Depakote (sprinkles--very low dose), so she titrated him up on the Depakote so we could get rid of the Lamotrigine.

Rining in ears, dry mouth, depression, and many other not good side effects. Did you notice and change in time (that you took keppra) with the side effects. Did it get better or worse? They want to add lamitcal to the keppra and I am thinking I should just ride the keppra out and see if I can get use to the sides I am experiencing now. Are the possible psychological side effects of Keppra (psychosis is worst case senario) totally reversible if the drug is stopped?? Any insight would be appreciated!

1000mlg's of Keppra a day is actually not very much, but in your case the side effects are putting you down. Adderall can help with you being tired all the time, but it also has side effects that can be troubling. It can be habit forming and lead to dependence, also in some cases cause seizures. I personally would ask your doctor if you could be put on different type of seizure med that will not make you as tired, but that is just my two cents.

as she believes the Topamax she is taking is creating hair loss, i believe it is a side affect but taking Epilepsy medication for 49 years i do not believe the Topamax is the reason for her hair loss. Most epilepsy medications can run upto 1000's of MG My Keppra alone is 3000MG I could not see 25MG per day doing much harm!

My 10 year old daughter has been on Keppra since she was 6. We honestly have been very lucky. She has been seizure free and have not noticed some of the symptoms that are being described with being on the Keppra. She does well in school. We are having a hard time deciding if when she makes a mistake on a test whether it is a honest 10 year old mistake or if it is caused by the keppra. She had a prolonged partial seizure when she was 6 but has been seizure free since being on the keppra.

How long after taking gabapentin will the side effects last. I have hair loss. I stopped taking gabapentin about four or five months ago.

I was on Dilantin for about 30 years and I went to a new doctor because I moved. The first thing he said to me was "we have to get you off of Dilantin" he had taking xrays of my brain and he saw that half of my brain was shrinking. He slowly took me off of Dilantin and put me onto Keppra. Ever since I have been on Keppra things have be better. I still have small seizures but not many and they are under control...........Please get off of Dilantin and onto Keppra.

issue with dilantin is the long term side effects....causes teeth problems GI issues and a list of others.......best of luck and If I can please let me know I will ghive the advice from my own personal experiences if they seem to meet what you are saying....

I am so scared of him taking a seizure, does anyone know if the side effects will get better with a smaller dose? that is what my plan is rite now for him to lower the dose and see if his mental health gets better, ANY SUGGESTIONS would greatly help me as i can relate with the doctor. this is all so new to me and my son and i am so very lost, not to mention my son...…...I do not want to add medicine to a medicine that is making his mind mush.

Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.

This is not exactly related to your question but there are a few anticonvulsants contraindicated with Incivek. Mostly the 1st generation ones (carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin). I was prescribed Keppra for my chronic headaches. I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and depression, secondarily. While taking Keppra, my mood was very erratic, irritable, depressed (very), and a lot of other unpleasant psychological side effects. I'm wondering how often this happens with Keppra. I had all the classic side effects which included memory loss, staggering, slurred speech, and so on. They were rough but not horrible. I actually had some fun with them at times (I do have an odd sense of humor though) Everyone is different so it may help. It only seemed to make my symptoms more pronounced. Good luck.

I also kept my hair with Gemzar. But I do have to admit that it was a hard chemo for me. I was also on the 3 week on and 1 week off schedule. Keep in mind, as Gail said, chemo affects all of us differently. But after my treatments, I had about 2 hours before it started to hit me. I never experienced nausea or vomiting, but I felt really bad for about 3 days. The upside was that after I was on it for awhile, the side effects gradually started to ease up.

She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Hi there, the various side effects with keppra or levetiracetam are dizziness, irritability, tiredness, fatigue, severe allergic reactions, extreme dizziness, drowsiness, weakness or tiredness, memory loss, behavior changes like aggression, panic attacks, restlessness, new or worsening seizures etc. in the period immediately after a seizure attack, it could be the post ictal phase or confusion. Consult your neurologist for your evaluation and change of anti epileptic medication. Hope this helps.

I wish I could take that again. Keppra is supposed to have fewer side effects than dilantin (especially long term side effects). If you get the irritibility and mood swings though it just doesn't go away.

s merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat.
