The patient can have no public or private prescription insurance and have an income at or below $25,500 for an individual ($34,500 for a family of two, $43,000 for a family of three) The patient must be 16 years or older. A doctor can only have two patients on the program at any time, unless the doctor is treating over 60 patients with opiate addictions, then the doctor can have three.
Application Process: The doctor/doctor's office should call for an enrollment form.
You could ask your doctor if you could qualify for the Patient Assistance Program. This is where certain pharmaceutical companies can for a specified time frame provide specific medications without charge for a person without health insurance. Find the website for the names of the medications you are taking. Then you can see if the companies who make them participate in this program.
com This is the mfg web site for the patient prescription program. They will send you an application which you and your physician fill out and return. They send you a four month supply each shipment. Then you just give a refill paper to your doc to sign and they fax in your refills. A new application is done once a year. I know this because I have been doing this for years.

Since we don't know the true extent of your husband's illness it is impossible to say what his needs are and what he will qualify for.
Yup, the meds are relatively pricey. The phone numbers listed are patient assistance programs sponsored by the manufacturers. They are income based as opposed to asset based; and will probably ask for last years federal tax forms to confirm income. They are actually fairly generous; they don’t require a patient to be indigent to qualify for help. Ask the doctor for Rx information, and then give them a call to see where you fall financially.
