Common Questions and Answers about Kaletra information

kaletra

Avatar m tn Hi everyone, Last weekend (Saturday night - Sunday morning) I stupidly allowed myself to have unprotected aggressive-anal and passive/aggressive-oral sex. About an hour after I found out that the person has sex with people that have HIV. The person tried to assure me that they were clean, had an HIV test last March that came back negative, and that I was the first person they had sex with since November (as if March 2011 to November conveniently doesn't matter).
Avatar m tn mitochondrial toxicity were using PEP for an extended period of time or taking a different cocktail as opposed to Truvada and Kaletra. Seems like Truvada and Kaletra is typically safe but has the annoying side affects for a few weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi! This question is for an expert or someone who has information from reliable sources on net. Can I change from Kaletra to Istentress after few days during the course of 28 day PEP period? This is in addition to Truvada. I am in area where I do not have any good access to knowledgeable doctor. Is there any paid online service available for such consultation in any country? It is a pity that in most places HIV is still a big taboo and no good doctors are available.
Avatar m tn m taking is Combivir every 12 hours, do you know more related statistics, or related information about PEP? Does the kind of exposure affects the efficiency of PEP?. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Is combivir an appropriate HIV nPEP regimen for one time unprotected encounter with CSW of unknown status in Kenya? I'm a 24 yr male from UK. Insertive vaginal and oral. Asked about Kaletra and doc said it's low risk doesn't recommend, but I am still very worried. Started within 12 hours, but still within 72 if kaletra should be added. I feel terrible of course but appreciate any advice.
Avatar f tn 30am and 8:30pm along with Kaletra, is it ok to change this to say 6am and 6pm or will the moving around times effect their effectiveness at least on the day I changed the time of taking them? Also will taking PEP have any long term side effects. It just that with all the sport I do I need to stay muscular, would PEP have any effect on this? I'm currently taking Kaletra and Combivir.
Avatar m tn 1 Truvada and 2 Kaletra at 7am while 2 Kaletra at 7pm. Yesterday, I took 1 Truvada at 7am but since I was in a hurry after dinner, I accidentally took one more Truvada last night. I tried to vomit it up but I was able to vomit only a part (dissolved part) of it. Because of panic, I forgot to take Kaletra last night. I rushed to the A&E and asked the doctor's advice on what to do.
Avatar f tn Since the chances a quite low Can I stop taking pep or can I stop kaletra and remain with truvada take it upto 28days.coz kaletra gives me diarrhea.
Avatar m tn My sister-in-law is just above 10 years old. She takes Viread and Kaletra every day. My mother-in-law takes Videx EC and Ziagen. My mother-in-law is currently in Africa, and I've searched on the pills my sister-in-law is taking, and I found out that it was HIV treatment :'( I couldn't hold my tears, because I love her so much, and she is so young. I want to know what it means. Please tell me.
Avatar m tn Approximately 12 hours after the possible exposure, I visited a local STD clinic and they started me on the first 4 days of PEP taking Truvada 1x daily and Kaletra 2 x 2 daily. On Tuesday I am supposed to go in and pick up the remainder of the 28 days.
Avatar n tn Four months ago i had a condom break on me on a girl with her period that had unknown status and dr put me on Combivir with Kaletra, and i stopped after 10 days when the girl showed me her test result. I did a test 1 month ago and i was negative, and now i am in the same spot. I already started on the Combivir every 12 hours and the kaletra every 12 hours i have left... Please Dr, what are my chances of risk??? I do not want to take PEPs if not necesary..
Avatar f tn i am negative. Now that I know, I am interested in resources and information in coping with this and also ways to still have a normal relationship without putting myself at risk. if i wasnt in love with him, i would leave him. i cant promise i will stay forever, but my mindset right now is to love and support him. can I kiss him without worry? some sites say yes and some so no. what about oral? same there i am seeing different views.
Avatar m tn t helpful; the important information is his or her viral load and whether s/he is on antiretroviral therapy. If the viral load is low, and especially if it is undetectable on ART, then there probably was no transmission risk at all. Your immediate questions about test reliability and timing get to the issue of whether, when PEP doesn't work, seroconversion time or time to detection of HIV DNA, are delayed and by how much.
Avatar m tn Started PEP at roughly 56 hours, was prescribed Truvada and Kaletra (those orange ones). However in such panic I took the one Truvada and stupidly only one Kaletra (I was meant to take two), the second tablet I took at roughly 68 hours. I then realised my stupidity and the next day (about 80 hours) I began to take the correct dosage (one truvada and two Kaletra twice daily). Tested negative for all other STD's inc. HIV on roughly 12th Jan.
Avatar m tn I also commenced Truvada that evening ( approx 4 hrs post exposure) . Is this adequate . I have now been on it for a week . I was considering commencing kaletra as well . Is my risk high ? would you recommend anything else? thanks for advice worried !!
Avatar m tn In the morning of Thursday I took 1 Kaletra. In the evening of Thursday I realized I misread the label and took 2 Kaletra though I forgot to take the Truvada because I was used to taking the other medicine in the morning (I’ve also not been thinking straight and been very stressed, I made a mistake). On Friday morning I came to my senses and took 2 Kaletra and 1 Truvada and set a plan so I wouldn’t mess it up and that’s the regiment I will stick too.
Avatar m tn I read on thebody.
Avatar n tn 20 hours from the encounter i started up PEP( kaletra+ truvada), with the usual side effects + blood in the spitting ( a consequence of the deep throat or of the kaletra ? i noticed the blood only 1/2 days after the 1th assumption) tomorrow morning the male of the couple promised me he's gonna test and show the result. in case of negativity should i interrupt the treatment ? or i need both of them to be tested ?
Avatar n tn 3 days later my doctor switched me from Sustiva/Combivir to Kaletra/Combivir. A few days after that I began to develop a mild sore throat and a quarter size rash on my penis. On July 24th I got a Stat-Pak HIV test at a clinic which came back negative. By July 30th, 2008 (maybe a few days earlier) I developed a small quarter size rash on my right foot but this rash was nothing at all like the rash on my penis a few weeks earlier.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am hoping someone can help calm my fears, although I know my risk is not small. Over the past two days, I engaged in the best sex...several times over, all unprotected...it was amazing and was the most wonderful time, with the most wonderful person who I have known and respected for years. At the end of day two, I found out that he's hiv positive. This was yesterday. Last night I went to see an HIV Specialist, who returned to her office at 8:30 PM to see me and try to help me.
Avatar m tn Condom failure with a partner who then failed to notify me of it until it was too late, and then kicked me out when I started to ask questions (perhaps I was a little intense but it was a bit traumatizing to be honest) I was put on PEP 15 hours afterwards, and completed the full 28 days of Kaletra and Truvada.
Avatar m tn if I have a PCR RNA viral load test done 1 week after exposure, what can I expect from the reliability of the results? If I get a negative is it actually the cases that I very likely did not contract the virus or might the retrovirals just suppress the viral load to an undetectable level?
Avatar m tn A day after it happened I went to my doctor who gave me a prescription for Truvada/Kaletra. My baseline test was negative for all common STDs and HIV. A week after it happened I went to another STD clinic and had another test done (I wasn't sure if gonorrhea and chlamydia would show up on a test a day after) and those tests were all negative. However, the clinic gave me an antibiotic shot and azithromycin.
