kaletra

Avatar f tn Since the chances a quite low Can I stop taking pep or can I stop kaletra and remain with truvada take it upto 28days.coz kaletra gives me diarrhea.
Avatar m tn Kaletra and Viread are indeed HIV medications. Kaletra is only used for HIV but Viread is also approved for use with Hepatitis.
Avatar f tn Is combivir an appropriate HIV nPEP regimen for one time unprotected encounter with CSW of unknown status in Kenya? I'm a 24 yr male from UK. Insertive vaginal and oral. Asked about Kaletra and doc said it's low risk doesn't recommend, but I am still very worried. Started within 12 hours, but still within 72 if kaletra should be added. I feel terrible of course but appreciate any advice.
Avatar m tn Furthermore, there is virtually no risk of HIV from receipt of oral sex and, IF your partner had HIV, your risk of HIV form a single brief episode of unprotected intercourse is less than 1 in 1000. You then began to take post-exposure prophylaxis, apparently without a health care provider's supervision. I would not have recommended PEP for you but of course, if you want it, I am sure you can get it.
Avatar m tn In the morning of Thursday I took 1 Kaletra. In the evening of Thursday I realized I misread the label and took 2 Kaletra though I forgot to take the Truvada because I was used to taking the other medicine in the morning (I’ve also not been thinking straight and been very stressed, I made a mistake). On Friday morning I came to my senses and took 2 Kaletra and 1 Truvada and set a plan so I wouldn’t mess it up and that’s the regiment I will stick too.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, Last weekend (Saturday night - Sunday morning) I stupidly allowed myself to have unprotected aggressive-anal and passive/aggressive-oral sex. About an hour after I found out that the person has sex with people that have HIV. The person tried to assure me that they were clean, had an HIV test last March that came back negative, and that I was the first person they had sex with since November (as if March 2011 to November conveniently doesn't matter).
Avatar f tn 30am and 8:30pm along with Kaletra, is it ok to change this to say 6am and 6pm or will the moving around times effect their effectiveness at least on the day I changed the time of taking them? Also will taking PEP have any long term side effects. It just that with all the sport I do I need to stay muscular, would PEP have any effect on this? I'm currently taking Kaletra and Combivir.
Avatar m tn you did start your PEP at the right time! but adding kaletra later boosts the anti hiv strength of your drug regimen. you are still fighting any hiv after 3 days, making sure any stray virus were inactivated. you are overthinking this. Truveda still does a very very good job by itself.
Avatar m tn So I got her tested she was HIV+ so I initiated 3X ARV at the 20 Hr mark. 2 weeks after I have ARS (night sweats, flu like symptoms, swollen lymph nodes) so I got a quantitive PCR which came back negative. I have read a prior post were Doctor Bob say seroconversion can happen whilst on ARV if it is a resistant to the ARV. My questions are: 1) These rashes show constitutional HIV symptoms the Viral load is likely through the roof? 2) can these suspected AVS effects be from the Kaletra?
Avatar m tn mitochondrial toxicity were using PEP for an extended period of time or taking a different cocktail as opposed to Truvada and Kaletra. Seems like Truvada and Kaletra is typically safe but has the annoying side affects for a few weeks.
Avatar n tn 3 days later my doctor switched me from Sustiva/Combivir to Kaletra/Combivir. A few days after that I began to develop a mild sore throat and a quarter size rash on my penis. On July 24th I got a Stat-Pak HIV test at a clinic which came back negative. By July 30th, 2008 (maybe a few days earlier) I developed a small quarter size rash on my right foot but this rash was nothing at all like the rash on my penis a few weeks earlier.
Avatar m tn Dont stress over these. Kaletra and Combivir can both cause a bunch of HIV looking symptoms. Just keep with the meds, and manage symptoms. DO NOT take any crazy herbs or try to get creative with holistic stuff. Kaletra and Combivir interact with hundreds of things, including Milk Thistle and St Johsn Wart. Just keep your daily intake to healthy food, a lot of water, and make sure you get a very good multivitamin.
Avatar m tn How effective is PEP at preventing HIV when used correctly and taken within 12 hours?
Avatar m tn hi, as a gay, i am aware of the high risk of hiv infection. so i never dare to have anal sex with anyone 3days ago, i dated a guy (now it's sure that he is positive), before meeting him, we agreed on no anal sex or oral sex. after meeting him ,first he uses a plastic fake pennis to insert into my anus for 60seconds after that he inserted his finger into my anus overally for 30 seconds.
Avatar m tn A day after it happened I went to my doctor who gave me a prescription for Truvada/Kaletra. My baseline test was negative for all common STDs and HIV. A week after it happened I went to another STD clinic and had another test done (I wasn't sure if gonorrhea and chlamydia would show up on a test a day after) and those tests were all negative. However, the clinic gave me an antibiotic shot and azithromycin.
Avatar m tn I went to the hospital because I am neurotic Also because i am neurotic and a gifted liar/actor a made up a story about having unprotected anal sex with a street worker to convince them to give me PEP. So 33hours after possible HIV exposure, I ingested my first dose of PEP pills (Truvada and Kaletra). I took the pills consistently for 28 days (one blue truvada pill every 24 hours and two yellow Kaletra pills every 12 hours). The regimen ended August 22nd 2012. Today is one week later.
Avatar m tn He was fooling around with somebody who slightly penetrated him for half a second before he pushed the person away. HIV status of the other person is unknown. Today we had unprotected sex - I was the top. I did not notice any blood or anything on my penis afterwards, though he was bleeding a bit a few hours later. He was tested for HIV two days ago (two days after PEP finished) - results should be in tomorrow or the day after.
Avatar n tn 20 hours from the encounter i started up PEP( kaletra+ truvada), with the usual side effects + blood in the spitting ( a consequence of the deep throat or of the kaletra ? i noticed the blood only 1/2 days after the 1th assumption) tomorrow morning the male of the couple promised me he's gonna test and show the result. in case of negativity should i interrupt the treatment ? or i need both of them to be tested ?
Avatar m tn Both of us were tested for HIV by drawing blood. I do not know what type of test is it, but result came only after 45-60 min. Both of us were negative. The doctor then gave me some pills (T-Viread 1 pill 300mg, T-Lamivir 2 pills 150mg and Kaletra 200mg/50mg.) it was taken about 2-2.5 hours after the incident. I'm also given the above medication to be taken for next 28days with the first two to be taken once after breakfast and Kaletra to be taken twice a day, 12 hours apart.
Avatar m tn I believe I was exposed to HIV several days ago. Since, I have begun a post exposure prophylaxis regiment of combivir and kaletra (begun 30 hours after potential exposure). I am wondering: if I have a PCR RNA viral load test done 1 week after exposure, what can I expect from the reliability of the results? If I get a negative is it actually the cases that I very likely did not contract the virus or might the retrovirals just suppress the viral load to an undetectable level?
Avatar f tn This question is for an expert or someone who has information from reliable sources on net. Can I change from Kaletra to Istentress after few days during the course of 28 day PEP period? This is in addition to Truvada. I am in area where I do not have any good access to knowledgeable doctor. Is there any paid online service available for such consultation in any country? It is a pity that in most places HIV is still a big taboo and no good doctors are available.
Avatar m tn On July 7th of this year I was performing an invasive procedure and was not wearing eye protection. A drop or two of serosanguinous fluid from a known HIV+ patient (class 2) got into my left eye. I started Combivir at 5 hrs post exposure and continued for 28 days. My baseline, 2 wk and 6 wk ELISA's have been negative.
