Junel as emergency contraception

Common Questions and Answers about Junel as emergency contraception

junel

Avatar m tn You're using regular birth control pills in a higher dose to replace an emergency contraception? Honestly that doesn't sound safe at all! Vomiting for 9 hours is a big red flag and I think you should see a dr, especially if you're still doing this. Definitely don't take any more pills because they could seriously harm your body.
Avatar f tn He is pretty sure that he did not ejaculate, but i want to take an emergency contraceptive pill( such as i-pill) just as a precaution. What i really need to know is whether it can cause any problems with my periods later on. i had my last period from january 22,2009. also, does it have too much of side-effects? i have a family history of PCOS, though i haven't been diagnosed with it.
Avatar n tn No. This will not work. You are outside the 72 window in which emergency contraception will work. Now you must wait to see if your period comes. If it is late, then take a test. If that is positive, you then can discuss termination either by the traditional procedure or by pills that a doctor prescribes. Or you may not be pregnant. But emergency contraception must be taken within 72 hours of intercourse.
Avatar n tn in the morning, i took emergency contraception (prostinor 2) last night, while having sex wiv him, the condom broke and he came in me...Do i need to take prostinor again or is the one i took yesterday ok?
Avatar f tn I went to a Rite Aid and took the emergency contraception ,My Way (levonorgestrel) 20 min. afterwards and I started taking Junel Fe on Wednesday August 31, the same day my period ended. I'm trying to schedule an appointment with my obgyn, because the only thing I've felt out of the ordinary is bloating since Sun to the point where I need to sit every time I stand, being out of breath sometimes or can barely eat for a day.
Avatar m tn I think Plan B posts that there is a 1 in 8 chance of it not working. It's not meant to be used as birth control, it's meant to be used as emergency contraception. When you say "condoms aren't on the table," do you mean this has already happened and you had no condoms? If this hasn't happened yet, condoms are more reliable than Plan B, and a lot more healthy for you.
Avatar f tn anyways, we went to cvs and bought Next Choice one pill emergency contraception an hour after sex. She used the EC around 8:45pm the same night, march 11. She told me that she was 2 weeks late on her Depo shot, which is why I recommended the EC an hour or little after sex. She also said she is usually on a 28 day cycle, rarely early, and always on time. So, what are the chances of her getting pregnant in the future? I have been worrying all day.
Avatar f tn Emergency Contraception In cases of unprotected sex, women can take emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy. Emergency contraception is not a substitute for regular contraceptive methods and it is not the same as the abortion pill. In 2009, the FDA made several changes to the emergency contraceptive pill Plan B: The original Plan B, which is taken as two levonogesterol pills, is now also available in a generic form called Next Choice.
Avatar f tn That happens when one miss Junel Fe for one day. Junel Fe usually take the body's bones and reduce the calcium. Using the reduction of calcium, Junel Fe then can make the baby's mess to be less (as babies are made from pouches and the bones). It's a dangerous and really effective drug. Stop the bleeding with ivory (plant) and ivory (mineral).
Avatar n tn I'm 28 years old, 3 years ago I had an ovarian torsion (twisted ovary) due to a monster 4in ovarian cyst. I lost my left ovary, but now the Gyn says I have a 2.5" cyst on my right ovary. She put me on Junel Fe 1/20 eight months ago and I really don't know that I want to stay on it but I don't know if I have a choice. I feel emotionally devoid ... a lack of interest; I don't have an opinion about anything.
Avatar f tn You gave her plan B or emergency contraception? I pill, right? Well, if it was taken within 72 hours, she should be good. Lunch doesn't matter so much as getting it in before the 72 hour window is over. buy some condoms! Emergency contraception messes up a woman's period.
Avatar n tn I had been on Junel fe for years, and was on Azurette before as well. I decided to switch back to Azurette because it helps my acne. However, I was advised to use a backup method for a month when exchanging. I finished my Junel Fe and got my period, then started Azurette on the Sunday after my period. I had the condom break the following Sunday after.(so I had 8 Azurette pills in my system when it broke, all taken on time).
Avatar f tn sometimes contraceptive pills can cause bleeding. they say so right in the side effects as well as sometimes emergency contraception can change the length of a monthly menstrual cycle, making the next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual. if her period was late than you should worry but any bleeding heavier than spotting is a sure sign that she is not pregnant.
Avatar f tn Sorry, my mistake! My fellow Community Leader reminds that the number of hours after sex for the most effective use of emergency contraception is 72 hours, not 48 hours. Here is the correct information: "If you feel you need to take emergency contraception, take it as soon as you can after the unprotected sex. It's most effective within 72 hours. It can be taken up to five days after intercourse, but by the third, fourth or fifth day the rate of effectiveness is reduced.
Avatar n tn It happens because of the hormones in a pregnancy so for most women, it starts 6 to 7 weeks after conception, not when your period is due. You are likely late because you used emergency contraception/pills. Those are a huge dose of hormones which is how they work but also after that, the body deals with the hormones. They can make you irregular with your cycle for 2 to 3 months after taking them.
Avatar f tn HI, The unprotected sex was around mid-cycle, which is the time of ovulation and at this time the risk of pregnancy is highest. However as you have taken emergency contraception, the risk is reduced. The symptoms you are having can also be the side effects of the drug. Hence taking of antacids may help. If however the periods do not come on time then a home pregnancy test can be taken. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar m tn Nordette is a regular birth control pill but can be used as an emergency contraception if taken by 4pills then 4 pills after a 12 hour period. My girlfriend doesn't use birth control pills and this is the only time she used it. And she did it twice this month only.
Avatar m tn Though my bleeding is not the kind of bleeding I usually get from my period. Is it also because of the emergency contraception?
Avatar n tn on a safer side i took emergency contraception...now after 5 days i am bleeding which is darker(brownish)in colour but it is going on since yesterday...m confused on everythng ...
Avatar f tn Here's the thing, taking emergency contraception so many times in such a short amount of time will absolutely affect your period schedule. It's not meant to be used that often. For your own health and piece of mind you need to get on the regular birth control pill and take as directed or some other form of protection if you're going to be having so much unprotected sex.
Avatar f tn While emergency contraception is most effective within a 72 hour window and the sooner you take it, the higher the efficacy rate, I get 3 packs of emergency contraception (Next Choice, I have both single dose and two dose) per month when I fill my birth control. I'm told by my gynecologist and it's on my prescription (though you no longer need a prescription, I only have mine as a prescription because I get it at no cost then) to take within 120 hours of unprotected sex.
Avatar f tn I used nordette BCP for emergency contraception. I took 12:30 this afternoon. I was supposed to take 4 pills but mistakenly took only 2 pills. What should i do? Should i retake the full doses again or should i just take 4 pills 12 hrs later?
