januvia and weight gain

I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?

Hi, I recently posted about severe side effects I was experiencing with the drug Januvia , I had severe stomach pains and sore throat. My doctor has now prescribed Galvus and said they are from the same family as Januvia. Has anybody tried this drug? if so did you experience any side effects ,especially stomach pains? . It may sound stupid but I am a little scared to take Galvus after what happened before.

I was tested this december and my A1c levels was on 12%. My weight is 246, im 5 feet 5 inches tall. Right now im in a once a day Januvia100mg treatment. Have to admit i forget to take them often. My hubby says that if i domydiet well and exercise i can lower that but i am just afraid to use insulin. The range of my blood sugar is 150-300. If i get anxious that levels raises to 346. What can you tell me about this??

I am diabetic with 136/166 respectively fasting and PP. I am on medication like Amryl M2 forte, Januvia 50 pre breakfast and Cetrapin XR 500 post dinner. Storevas 10 and cardace 2.5 post dinner. I have been given Nexovas 10 in the morning too. My BP is 120/80 as per latest report. I am from the army Retd and 49 years. My weight is 87 and is on the higher side with hieght at 176. I always took drinks in the evenings controlled. Kindly advice. I am off it since my liver is fatty as per USG.

I would love to have those numbers.. i have to workout like crazy and eat very little to get close to those and thats also with taking another med with the metformin. I would say something is very wrong with what they are trying to do.

The levothyroxine has a long half-life within the blood and may also be withheld for 3 to 4 days without significant changes observed. The Januvia and blood pressure meds you shouldn’t mess around with, so the experiment may not be performed completely. . While you may think the diet has nothing to do with it, but I think investigating would be better than pure recall. You could try to make a log of things she eats and again try to make changes there depending on which foods seem suspect.

Been on januvia for a week. Blood sugar is not going below 120 ...and as high as 250. Was on glyburide. Had trouble with BS dropping as low as 40. Doc thought I would do better with this drug. I have only one kidney so was prescribed a 50mg dose. Will it regulate after I have been on for awhile?

While in the hospital for heart related problems my doctors found that I had the D word. I refuse to accept this as I have worked so hard to avoid having the D word. I was sent home with a monitor which I refuse to use (no fear of needles just using the monitor means acceptance). I am on Januvia 50 mg and Amaryl 1mg. My doctor told me to eat 3 meals a day plus a snack at bed time. I have lived by the Atkins diet and don't eat carbs and don't care for sweets.

I have been on Metformin, Januvia and Glimeperide for a few years. They are not controlling my diabetes. She wanted me to try Victoza and give up the Januvia. I got over fear of giving myself the shot, but on the 3rd day I began to get sick. On the 4th and 5th days I couldn't even go to work. Changed shot to before bed instead of morning and it made no difference. After a little over a week I stopped it. Lost 5 lbs cause I couldn't eat anything.

What does this sound like, and what can I do about it? I am a Type 2 Diabetic, and take Metformin, Januvia, and Zoloft for anxiety.

I was able to get down to 173 then now im way back up to 182-183 and i even got down to 179 by working out a couple of times and then next time i wanted to work out my body just isnt letting me and even tho i did the treadmill on sunday and i weight 179.4.. and on Tuesday when i was gonna workout again, i weighed 181.6 and this morning 182.8. I started taking lexapro for the Post-Traumatic Stress. I'd always been a bit of a snacker and stress-eater, but I a burdensome amount of weight from it. I have taken quite a bit of different antibiotics back in May. I have stopped taking it a about 3 weeks ago, maybe longer and noticed that I have a hard time gaining weight now. I have had bad anxiety and depression as well recently which may have caused my appetite to go down drastically but when it comes back I start to eat a lot and it doesn't seem like I can gain weight like I used too.

Keep in mind you could gain weight on Zoloft or any ssri, and your weight gain on Paxil has been minimal -- I gained 50 pounds over several years on it. And be careful going off it, it can be difficult. Do it slowly and carefully.
