Avatar n tn hi i am presently living in the Philippines and i have run out of my janumet 50mg/500mg tablets and they are not available here in Philippines the only diabetic tablets available where i live are Metformin 500 tablets, can i substitute these for the janumet ?
Avatar n tn My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally. Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn i used janumet for my sugar it make me gain weight but it lower my sugar why isnt suppose to make u loose weight
194838 tn?1303428544 Both Metformin and Januvia have stomach discomfort side effects. I agree with caregiver, take Metformin with food to lessen the chance of this. I take my daily dose half way through my mid-day meal. "I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them" Did this start when you began taking Januvia? Januvia has a side effect that makes Metformin even harder to tolerate: by boosting GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) it may cause the lower stomach valve to remain shut.
Avatar f tn I thought I had to vomit, but when I intentionally tried to vomit, nothing happened. I have type 2 diabetes and currently take Janumet twice a day. Could this have been low blood sugar, or high blood sugar?
Avatar m tn I went on metformin 1g, no change after three months. went up to two grams and was so nauseus for weeks, changed to janumet 1g. My sugars are still up around 15 every day, and my hand still hasnt stopped twitching. I get it all over my body randomly, but always in my hand. It doesn't hurt but is irritating and my hand is sore from overworking. My dr said this was a diabetes issue but I have never heard of it before among other sufferers, and he just brushes it away when I mention it.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your response. I have type 2. My last HA1c was 8.1 and I am now using Janumet. I do suppose a dietitian is the right way to go. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.
733744 tn?1337950650 What dose are you at? When did you get placed on Seroquel? They start you at a small dose and move it up as required. Just be a bit patient, and it will help you. I was seriously anxious and hypomanic at the same time, basically what they call mixed states. I started at 25 mgs 3x a day. They moved up my dose though about 6 weeks time to 50mgs morning, 100mgs at dinner, and 100 at night. I just had my dinner dose upped because I was still a bit hypomanic.
Avatar m tn 8% with weights 78kg, 1 years a go my doctor advice me take daily 2 tablets 850 mg Glocophage, then recently another doctor suggest me to take 1 tablet 50/1000 mg Janumet after lunch and 1 tablet 850 mg Glucopahe after dinner, what is your comment and advice.
541196 tn?1293552936 I had gestational diabetes 7 years ago and have suspected that my insulin never returned to normal. I was taking Metformin 500 2x daily which was then changed to Janumet 500/50 2x daily. I have done very well with diet and exercise and for some very strange reason, upon beginning treatment for the pituitary tumor and thyroid medicine, my blood sugars have been in range perfectly and when taking Janumet I actually experience severe low sugars, so I have stopped taking it.

3093770 tn?1389739126 There is nobody else treating with it right now and here in NZ Telaprevir is coming in one week bottles with 42 tablets. What I need is another 10 tablets but no need for the full bottle. Any suggestions on where could I possibly get any? I will ask the doctor and the pharmacist next time I see them and I was thinking maybe to call Janssen line here in Auckland and talk to the product manager. Maybe they do have some samples or some emergency supply.
Avatar n tn On the few occasions that this happens the Doc prescribes a short 30mg 6 tablets a day course of Prednisolone tablets which usually clears up my Asthma symptoms. My concern is the side effects that are related to Prednisolone tablets i.e. thinning of the bonnes, what I would like to know is would it be a good idea to take calcium tablets on a regular basis or just when I’m on the Prednisolone or are they worth taking at all? Any advice would be most appreciated.
541196 tn?1293552936 My endocrinolgist ordered a MRI with Contrast on my brain for the possiblity of a prolactin secreeting pituitary tumor or something similar. I am type II diabetic and take Janumet. I think I remember reading in the side effects, warnings and uses pamphlet that there were some tests, proceedures and surgeries which you shouldn't have while on the medication. How long should I be off the medication before and after the MRI? Are there any other things I should consider before the test?
Avatar f tn Zopiclone is used to treat sleeping problems (insomnia). HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth before bedtime as directed. This medication is usually taken for short periods of up to 4 weeks. Do not increase the dose or take this for longer than prescribed. Tolerance may develop with long-term or excessive use making it less effective.
1192309 tn?1264801232 Is this about the right time frame for sugar drop, or is it too slow? Should I have had lower numbers faster? My doc put me on something called Janumet 50, which I have been taking twice a day for the past 17 days (have missed a dose or two). I am still getting high numbers in the morning though, around 145-ish. One other question, I have never been Dx'd with this before and have been reading that type II can sometimes be predisone induced when you are/have been very sick.
Avatar m tn Long story short, I was not tested for type one or two diabetes before I was started on insulin. I went from Janumet 50/500 to adding Lantus 2 weeks later. When I hit 22 units, my fasting number went to 81 from a starting number of 324. My concern is that even with the fasting level in normal range, my two hour BG level still spikes to the high 200's. I have followed the recommended diet and watch my carb count very carefully.
492869 tn?1285018933 Due to the nature of salt tablets and the way that salt naturally interacts with the stomach you probably want find any Salt tablets that dont cause nausea. I have found the best thing to do is just add salt to everything. Little and often is absorbed a lot better than one big dose all in one go.
Avatar n tn Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.
3136949 tn?1369524705 s put me on quite a bit of meds im taking citraNatal 90 dha, foltx tablets, profe forte tablets, 200 mg progesterone tablets, and starting next week ill see him once a week for progesterone shots and at 14wks ill be getting a clerclage put in.... so im feeling confident with this pregnancy but have any of you been put in tablets & shots and everything be ok? Like you have a safe healthy pregnancy?
Avatar n tn As far as i'm aware there's no specific dose for specific results. I'd give the tablets a little longer to do their thing. Look up the symptoms of hyperthyroidism as that would be the same as taking too much. I doubt it is that after only 5 days on it though. Everyone is different i guess.
Avatar f tn The way to see if you can tolerate it is to start with a low dose (maybe 1/2 or 1/4 of a pill). Then build up the dose over a period of days / weeks. However, if your blood sugar numbers are very high (normal blood sugars are less than 140 all the time), please consider a low carb (moderate protein, high healthy fats) diet. And do not rule out insulin. Insulin is actually a great tool for controlling blood sugars.
144586 tn?1284666164 The study involved ten patients, and according to this study there was total remission in all ten cases. The Huangdai tablets were used in conjunction with low-dose chemo. Apparently this Chinese medication has been used for hundreds of years. This is unusual because this is a rare and essentially "untreatable" disease in the U.S. He is being treated at a top United States Hospital, by very qualified cancer specialists.
