hi i am presently living in the Philippines and i have run out of my janumet 50mg/500mg tablets and they are not available here in Philippines the only diabetic tablets available where i live are Metformin 500 tablets, can i substitute these for the janumet ?

been on metformin 500 mg 2x a day...over last 2 wks suagrs have been in upper 200...so my Dr. increased my metformin to 850 mg 2x a day... i just took i pill today but my numbers sre still over 200 ..Is there an adjustment of how many days till new mg. starts to work...

I had TIA stroke in December 2010. My diabetese medicine was changed from Pioglar + Metformin 500 twice a day to Janumet 50+1000 twice a day in around March 2011. My endocrinolgist ordered a MRI with Contrast on my brain for the possiblity of a prolactin secreeting pituitary tumor or something similar. I am type II diabetic and take Janumet. I think I remember reading in the side effects, warnings and uses pamphlet that there were some tests, proceedures and surgeries which you shouldn't have while on the medication. How long should I be off the medication before and after the MRI? Are there any other things I should consider before the test?

Metformin only helps your body process insulin. Ask your doctor about switching to Janumet - combo with Metformin. Regarding Cinnamon - it is effective in regulating sugar for Mellilitus II diabetics. You can take it in conjunction with any medicine. IMHO - fresh or using the sticks in a tea are the most effective!

Hi, I am taking Glucophage (slow release Metformin) and have just been prescribed Januvia to take also. I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.

I have type 2 diabetes and I take 2000mg of metformin...but it hurts my stomach something terrible...i stay in the bathroom I stopped taking it but I know I have to start back because I don't want to have to take insulin because it is/was helping me..what can I do for the stomach pain and toilet runs.

My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally. Any information would be appreciated.

I had gestational diabetes 7 years ago and have suspected that my insulin never returned to normal. I was taking Metformin 500 2x daily which was then changed to Janumet 500/50 2x daily. I have done very well with diet and exercise and for some very strange reason, upon beginning treatment for the pituitary tumor and thyroid medicine, my blood sugars have been in range perfectly and when taking Janumet I actually experience severe low sugars, so I have stopped taking it.

My doctor suggests now to up the Clomid dose to 150mg and to take Metformin as well. I thought that Metformin was indicated for patients with insulin resistance (which is not my case), is this true or are there potential benefits of taking Clomid + Metformin even not being insulin resistant? Also, at which point will a person be considered Clomid resistant?

I have a question for all of you. I'm on metformin and Janumet meds and I have been having a great deal of gastric distress. Uncontrollable flatulence and gastric reflex especially at night. Is anybody out there taking the same meds having the same problem. I think I need to call my doc. and maybe change meds. By the way my glucose levels have really come down. No your not too late, However PCOS patients should not take Clomid, due to the fact that it can acctually cause cysts. However Metformin is great for PCOS patients because it will help us use insulin in our bodies instead of causing us to form more cysts.
