Avatar f tn Thats correct and you are eating the wrong way
Avatar f tn t see stroke as a side effect for Itraconazole. It can cause a lot of other problems, including conjestive heart failure and high blood pressure. Also, you should not take Itraconazole with the following drugs: Cisapride, Quinidine, Pimozide, dofetilde, or levacetylmethadol as it can cause fatal heath rhythum with these drugs.
Avatar f tn Your doctor can prescribe a stronger dose and for you to take it for much longer.
Avatar m tn e. itraconazole is an antifungal drug which is used for moderate to severe fungal infection. However for mild to moderate fungal infection, topical antifungals are used. But before using any of them diagnosis needs to be confirmed and antifungal drugs have potential side effects. The three main diagnostic tests are potassium hydroxide smear, culture and histology.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the advice, The cats are actually infested with fleas, this tiny one is heavily infested and she keeps scratching herself and tiny lumps appear in her skin in her neck, they could even be lymph nodes . I tried to remove as much as I could manually , but I suppose in the long run that won't be sufficient. I read on the internet that Revolution is relatively safe compared to other medications.
Avatar f tn ) unfortunately I am extremely low on cash since I just returned back to work after being on disability for a year due to an injury. I bought a 3 month supply of Frontline Plus for cats. I tried calling their vet to see if they could give me a free sample to put on one of the cats (nope not even!) so all I have is a one month supply. Is there any way I can somehow use it for 2 cats?!?!
Avatar n tn what is the half life of oxycodone in cats? I've heard it works well for pain in cats. I'm trying to get more information on what may help my 12 year old cat. I'd like to have my questions in order before I pay my/her vet?
Avatar m tn Itraconazole is a fun med for them to be on. My tuxedo- Taz had Hystoplasmosis and was on Itraconazole for 8 months twice a day. If Simba is on it for very long- you might try checking with the local pharmacies- my vet gave me a written prescription and let me get it from a pharmacy because the cost was so much. It was almost half the cost at the pharmacy than the vet- about $125 a month. Taz was so funny about taking it.
Avatar n tn However, if the patient remains symptomatic after 4 weeks, therapy with itraconazole, 200 mg daily for 6 to 12 weeks, can be given. Patients who have severe outbreak-associated histoplasmosis and all immunosuppressed patients should be treated. Initial therapy with amphotericin B, 0.7 to 1 mg/kg daily, can be followed by oral itraconazole after a favorable response is noted. Antifungal therapy should be given to all patients with chronic pulmonary histoplasmosis.
Avatar m tn Hi, this may or may not be true w/ your cat, but we had a cat that became a diabetic because of the steroid drug she was put on for some colon issues. I know that sometimes vets will use this drug to treat cancer in our cats, too. So, if your cat has been given a steroid drug, either by injection or pill, then this could very well be the cause of her diabetes. And, as soon as this drug is stopped, so will the diabetes. Best wishes to you. I know first hand how tough your situation is.
Avatar n tn these are your antibiotics? why do you think your kitties need antibiotics? what strength are they and how much do the kitties weigh? you do know that using an antibiotic on cats can be dangerous...you have to be very sure there is an actual infection, than the culture needs to show what antib will work for that strain.
Avatar f tn Good to know! Thanks for the info!
Avatar f tn hello, I've taken the itraconazole pill and candid-v3(a vaginal insert) for 3 days as prescribed by my doctor and i finished my treatment yesterday. but it still seems that i have some white watery discharge today, i have no itchiness nor whatsoever. does this mean that the pill is still taking some time to fully cure me or did it not work completely? or could the discharge be from the candid-v3 pill from yesterday?
5745288 tn?1373476059 Hello there, Just finished reading your comments. I'm not sure about turmeric for cats. What I am concerned about is the aspirin, even 1/2 a dose of aspirin. If you are afraid the aspirin will lead to ulcers or intestinal bleeding and Fluff is still vomiting several hours after the aspirin is administered, it would seem pretty clear to me that she can't tolerate it , that it makes her sick and not to give it to her. You also might consider getting another opinion from another vet.
979080 tn?1323433639 JmJm( Jim) used to be a very prolific poster on Medhelp and he was also a very smart guy who put a lot of focus on riba absorption. I copied one of his many posts on the subject below. Basically it says, don't take Tums, Rolaids, Gaviscon, or Mylanta type antacids with Riba because they will block absorption but Protein Pump inhibitors and H2 blockers are OK. There is even a H2 blocker that was shown to help work against the virus and II remember reading about it in Dr.
Avatar n tn Hi doctor,I have jock itch type fungus for last one year, tried fluconazole but it again came back...then tried itraconazole 200 mg a day with topical clotrimazole, it completely dissappered, but after 15 days it came back. Avatar f tn I rinsed my mouth out after every use, but still contracted thrush. When I saw my tongue was white, I stopped using the inhaler. I took nystatin for a week, without any changes. I then took a dissolving tablet that I don't recall the name of. I also stopped eating sugar at this point, as my doctor never mentioned that thrush feeds on sugar, and I only found out after independent research. Again, no change, and so I was put on nystatin again.
233616 tn?1312787196 Although no interactions have been reported, inhibition of drug metabolism may occur for several agents (e.g. ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, triazolam). but so again, what does it do to iron levels??
Avatar f tn Both of these meds need to be taken for 3 months. The previous Rx was taken only once a month for 3 months. Any ideas what medicine this would have been?
Avatar n tn if a patient is allergic to itraconazole, is i safe for her to take voriconazole?
996946 tn?1503249112 I also get larger vials and measure them for the cats. At one point we had 4 cats a dog and 2 ferrets. Treat all 7 animals 3 times for $49 or spend $343 to do the same thing. Our old vet understood financial common sense and gave us the exact measurement for cats using an insulin size syringe. He has since retired, but when the rubber in the syringe wore out we took it to the pharmacy and the pharmacist was able to sell us a couple of the same size & type to use.
Avatar f tn We just had all 3 of our cats get upper respiratory inf.s and one ended up w/pneumonia-if you notice any kits coughing-take them to vet IMMEDIATELY!! i didn't know coughing is notnormal for cats-i thought he just had phlegm running down the back of his throat and we almost lost him. that said-mine all had stuffy noses too and i tried everything: putting vicks on their chins so the vapors would drift to the nost but not be where it could be eaten-NOT appreciated.
