As of now I am pretty sure I am HIV NEG as usual,(baselines will tell)- however I have had ALOT! of side effects and on day 5 of meds... Somedays im not sure I could take the side effects anymore...How permanent are these Side effects according to medical stats ?. I have heard some are permanent. I have had extreme fatigue on the meds...Depression, ringing in the ears, but EXTREMELY TIRED....however I am trying to stay on course...
I'm on truvada and isentress I have 14 days left due to the condom breaking I asked the guy to take a or a quick test when it broke I went to CVS and bought it...he tested positive... I was on pep 4 hours afterwards...
Hello - I understand that oral with a person who is HIV+ is low risk, but would it be a good idea to take PEP anyway? My concern is the side effects of the Isentress and Truvada combination. I have the medication, but if infection is very highly unlikely, I think I shouldn't. Friends are telling me not to worry and doctor says it is up to me (which I know). Opinions?
Hi, after being exposed to HIV 15 days ago, I'm on day 14 of PEP (Truvada & Isentress). I wonder if facial lipoatrophy (sunken cheeks, temples, eyes, etc) can develop as early as two weeks of being taking these meds. I'm a male model and I make a living of my face. Last week I was fired from 3 photo-shoots in a row. I don't know if I'm really experiencing facial fat waste, or if my face just reflects all the emotional distress I've been through for the past 2 weeks.
I was given pep for 28 days isentress and truvada side effects were pin sensations all over my body and the muscles in my legs dissolved. almost a year later I have hypersensitive feet pins and needle feeling in my feet and lower legs and pain in my toes as well pain in my legs. I thought when you stop this medication these symptoms go away how long can they stay because I feel like they are getting worse and not better.

they say this is the best stuff and cost me a lot but this is nasty medicine the minor side effects come at first they are not that bad nausea headache but by the 2 to 3rd week shi7 hits the fan and you feel horrible pains muscle problems weak like and heart palpitations. And more went to the emergency room twice thought I was having heart attach and second had fear or kidney and liver failure.
The docotor said these were the best drugs with the least side effects but after reading things online the side effects sound like thiese drugs can really screw me up? Is anyone familiar with these - does everyone have these side effects? Are these drugs as damaging as HIV and should I stay on them? Is there any chance of me living through this??
I've had HIV for several years, luckily it was caught early. I started meds fairly soon after. I started Atripla in 2010. It got be undetectable quickly and has kept that way. I never had major bad side effects on it. I did have some crazy dreams and still do. After I was on it for a couple years, things began to slowly deteriorate. I began getting panic attacks, and bouts of tachycardia and palpitations. I had a history of those but it seemed to get worse.
It is one Truavada and two Isentress a day. I am really scared about the side effects and I am wondering if I should continue taking the pills.
So, far I have had no side effects what so ever, so I'm wondering what the pills are doing.

You had zero risk, because only the head needs to be protected, which your post indicates happened. Those meds have serious side effects, so you need to talk it over with a health professional.
Only risk would be if she used an expensive lambskin condom, which she obviously wouldn't since she is protecting herself by not using lambskin.
I started on Truvada and Isentress and plan to take them every day consistently. I will not screw around with the dosage but I am having some odd side effects which are making me worry, such as chills, sweating, fatigue.
I'm sick of myself and hating everything about what happened. I wish I could take it back but the only thing that can calm me now is knowing from the community here whether realistically I will end up becoming HIV+.

I'm wondering what my HIV risk would be if my partner took off the condom when I wasn't looking. (I'm female.) He didn't ejaculate. He did ejaculate in my mouth once.
I had a respiratory virus/no fever about four days after the first exposure that lasted about 2 weeks. I had a few blotches that looked like pimples on my chest that didn't go away until today. These symptoms came and went in stages and were all very mild.

I had a risk exposure and had a base hiv test 4th gen ab/ag 25 hours after pep or after 2 truvadas and 3 isentress. Could this affect the negative result of the base test? Is the base test considered conclusive? The only risk exposure is no longer since the other party hiv test was negative and the exposure was low risk.

RainLover71-Thanks for the response. My Dr said risk was low but he gave me the choice for PEP or not. I'm on the 7th day and scheduled to check in with him tomorrow to see how I'm feeling regarding the side effects which have been mild GI stuff. I guess once one starts PEP it should be finished if possible-will get his opinion-he's a well respected HIV/AIDS MD. Very thankful for this site!
