7748835 tn?1393868668 Hello. I'm 16, 5'6 and 118lbs. I've had asthma since I was little and I just got a diagnosis that it was moderate persistent asthma but has worsened since I've had that diagnosis so I'm sure it's severe now. I'm on Advair 250/20 as a preventor and I have Ventolin HFA as a rescue inhaler. I take Advair twice a day, but sometimes forget to take it. I don't believe it helps prevent any symptoms or attacks whatsoever.
Avatar f tn Ventolin opens the airways - since you are a smoker there is a lot of mucus build up in there. Smoking causes the little hairs in your lungs and respiratory system to seize and stop working - this means that they cannot move the mucus out of the lungs if something is irriatating it. The ventolin opens the airways and thus is allowing movement of some of the mucus that is stuck. You WANT to cough the junk out!!
Avatar f tn Can't say that I get that symptom but everyone is different. What inhaler is it? Ventolin or a steroid one? Ventolin normally increases heart rate and makes you shaky. I don't know of any inhalers that make you drowsy?
Avatar m tn The only new med that I have been taking in the past 2 weeks is Ventolin HFA (Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Aerosol) for my coughing after coming down with flue. I have also been eating lots of broccoli sprouts and home made fresh ginger tea mixed with little honey. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon! Regards, Perez.. (IBS/IBD?) L.
Avatar f tn Advair HFA, alvesco and any HFA inhalers are lactose free. Puli org, symbicort, any disk inhalers or rotatable ones a Have lactose in them. I did have to fight to get my doctor to believe me and switch my inhaler but proved it once I was off for a few months - improved and then did spirometry before and after taking symbicort ... Guess what? My peak flow DROPPED, then they believed me :) You can be allergic to ventolin itself but there are other medication you can try.
Avatar m tn Low IGF-1 concentration may suggest GH deficiency or an insensitivity to GH. If it is due to nutritional deficiencies, chronic kidney or liver disease, or a more general decrease in pituitary function brought about by inherited defects or pituitary damage following conditions such as trauma, infections, and inflammation, further evaluation may need to be done.

Avatar f tn If you are having anxiety this bad why are they not treating that? It truly is a real problem for people. Hang in there and try to figure out if there is something that triggers this to happen. Sucking on some ice or drinking a coke can help the asthma too if you don't have an emergency inhaler. A cold wash cloth around your throat can help too. Goodluck.
Avatar m tn Frequent yawning could sometimes indicate inadequate oxygenation. Ventolin, is not a steroid, it is a short-acting bronchodilator. A bronchodilator keeps the breathing tubes in the lungs open and relieves the symptoms of asthma. And I would suggest to not use steroid medications like Dexamethasone indiscriminately, as this can have a lot of side effects. Please consult a doctor and have a spirometry done, this will help detect Asthma. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar n tn When having throat tightness a small amount of white mucus always comes. Why steroid inhaler is not working as expected(But Ventolin is working to a great extent). When spirometry was conducted even if i am having throat tightness and breathing trouble , by taking extra effort i was able to produce a normal result. Does this mean i don't have asthma.?
Avatar m tn re an asthmatic, or have pregnancy asthma, you need to take the medication. Ventolin is a steroid to get you coughing up the gunk that is in your lungs from asthma. It goes straight to your lungs and baby will be fine, if you keep breathing.
Avatar f tn I have now been given a power inhaler called Seretide. I have little faith but I guess I will give it a go. Is there no other alternatives to steroid inhalers? The specialist that I went to today suggested that there could be a link between my asthma and my heart murmur (moderate pulmonary stenosis) but I didn't really understand what he explained. Can you please explain this to me?
Avatar f tn I did that and the results came back fine, and there was nothing wrong with my lungs. The er gave me albuterol ventolin hfa. Whenever i use it, the medicine makes my chest more worse. I dnt know why, but as of now im 28 weeks pregnant, and as of right now since mothers day, i been having this whistling in my chest and i have been coughing since last week sunday, with a rumbling sound in my chest wen i inhale and exhale. I havent used my inhaler or nothing else.
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar f tn Advair Discus is a dry powder medication. It has large particles of powder that land on the vocal cords and irritate them. While inhaled steroids can cause this problem on there own, I have found the the dry powder medications are much worse for this. As a fellow singer, I recommend that you try the HFA version of Advair or Symbicort. Symbicort tends to be a little cheaper. It works great for most people, but I didn't metabolize it well at all and nose dived on it.
Avatar m tn When Albuterol was taken off the market she prescribed Ventolin HFA inhaler. I used to go into my PCP for a breathing inhaling solution to help me breathe if I whenever I contracted bronchitis, and she also placed me on steroid, cough syrup and antibiotics for the bronchitis which at times left me very breathless. Last March 2014 I developed bronchitis and went in to see my PCP, and she gave me a breathing test, and said my asthma developed into COPD.
Avatar f tn t be the problem and pulmicort is a powder. I remember when i was younger that the powder ventolin I had made me cough, so now I take the spray.
Avatar m tn A strain of staff, 1st symptom is a itch, then a small pimple, by the 3rd day a large red skim area, very sensitive to touch-don’t try to bust it it only will get worst, on day 6-7 a greenish yellowish puss that drains for 2-3 days. I normally use poraxide to keep it clean and then bandage it until heals. I have one now that in its draining stage. I heard Nutragena T-Gel shampoo can be used during the early days when you start to feel it coming on.
Avatar f tn I did have a chest x-ray which was clear except my doctor said that my small airways looked pronounced which could indicate airway inflammation. I had allergy testing and had a mild reaction to ragweed. I was prescribed Ventolin HFA and Asmanex. I took these medications and had a lot of side effects from both medications. The side effects felt worse than the actual symptoms.
