requip

1154672 tn?1262222616 I called again today, and she gave me a prescription for Requip (since there is a generic for it, and is less expensive than Mirapex). She started me on the starter pack. I take 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, then 1 full .50 tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, finally then 2 tablets 1 mg after that. I am concerened that since I have been taking 1 mg of Mirapex, that the dose of Requip won't be enough.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Carbidopa/levo er (generic) it is cheap and works wonders. It is a parkinsons med, but at the amount that is taken for RLS I have had no side effects at all. They take 36 a day for parkinson's and I have to take anywhere from 3-8 a day depending on how severe.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn then they wonder why the patient is acting strange. Your poor father-in-law should be weaned from Requip. This is causing him more problems along with what else they are giving him in the hospital. Better to have restless leg symdrome and not have to halucinate because of the Requip.
230948 tn?1235844329 Hi Has anyone tried requip? I;m on fentanal patches 100 and lyrica 150 mg down from 400mg) clonazapam 4 mg and now this starter pack for requip its a parkinson medicine as my rheumy says the theary is some fibro's have a lack of dopimine in the brain so this is a dopimine agonist.
Avatar f tn It is one of my most obnoxious symptoms, and I have taken requip or the generic, roprinole, for several years. Maybe you could add this too, please. For many years all I could do was rub my thighs--ad nauseum! Thanks for doing a wonderful job!
207972 tn?1230424119 wanted me to take Requip for it, but I am resisting doing that. I guess if it really helped with the daytime tiredness, I would. As long as it doesn't cause weight gain.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have been diagnosed with RLS and requip worked for you well until it was determined to be causing side effects, and you were switched to Sinemet. One known side effect of Requip is swelling in the legs; it sounds like you had an extensive evaluation for all the symptoms you began experiencing after January 2008. Sinemet works well for RLS symptoms, but has a higher risk of eventually causing what is called augmentation, or the occurrence of symptoms earlier in the day.
Avatar f tn I have tried ALL the home remedys and spent lots of money doing it and it doesnt work so i dont really need suggestions on that in fact i even take requip which is for RLS and it may calm it a bit but it is still there... i am wondering if maybe i have the actaul disorder because i know it is a real thing and people that dont have w/d still have it...
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
690549 tn?1288882721 I also failed to say that the standard meds for restless legs--requip (generic is roprinole) and miraplex are readily available and usually not at all difficult to get prescribed. They help a LOT!! Reduces the obnoxious feelings sometimes by half!
Avatar m tn Bear, I too suffered from RLS for many years. The Dr put me on Miraplex. It's for parkenson's but they give it for RLS. It worked!!!! Just get the generic. It's not habit forming and there is no high or low.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar f tn Just gave 2 excedrine pm.. Does anyone know how much Requip needed?
Avatar n tn Jennifer819 is right. There are other medicines that may help you even better than the requip. My husband was on it for a while when he bagan to have strange leg sensations but it just didnt seem to work for him. His problems were actually lymes disease so that may have been why, but I took ultram years ago in the beginning of my abdominal symptoms and for a while it did a great job of lessing my symptoms!
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar n tn It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?
Avatar f tn Been pretty good besides two sleepless night do to restless leg. Went to doctor today and gave me requip for that so we will see how tonight goes. Best of luck to everyone out there! Say a prayer every chance you get for me!
Avatar n tn The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked. My neurologist said that they are from lesions in my spinal cord. My question is: has any one else experienced this and have they found relief from other means without the bad side effects? The jerking movements are very violent and I feel desperate at times. Please help if you can.
Avatar n tn I need to get off aand people tell me soboxon is the only way but that is addictive. I want to stp on my own. Also have restless leg syndrome. Will requip help with that? Wha can i do?
Avatar f tn When passing feces the anal sphincter contraction irritates the vagus nerve, which drops the heartrate and diminishes oxygenation. That is why many cardiac patients die on the toilet. There is probably a co-factor, such as anemia, a low hematocrit or dehydration.
Avatar m tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness (it is the very best treatment for RLS or RAS), Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
