"Elevated thyroid antibodies are often associated with chronic urticaria, also called hives. Studies report that as many as 57.4% of patients with hives have the presence of anti-thyroid antibodies. An August 2010 paper suggests that treatment with T4 improves the itching associated with urticaria, but did not advise treatment with T4 unless the patient was hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn Try a desensitization diet to id the triggers...usually done with plain, long grain white rice. The internet has LOTS of info on this. I experienced similar problems with id and this was the only way to id and remove the culprits. Also, get a notebook and track everything - environmental, emotional and physical - even things that you do not think counts. The journaling takes time bc you have to learn how as well as get in the habit. However, I found it helped me and the doctors.
Avatar f tn Before changing any child's diet, you really need to consult their pediatrician. This diet thing would probably work for kids who have allergies to wheat and milk. So, get your child allergy tested. I have read that this diet works for some autistic kids, but they have allergies to this stuff. If your child doesn't have allergies to this stuff, you are removing important nutrition from his diet!!! That's what our pediatrician told us.
Avatar f tn re already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta. And pasta is readily available made out of gluten-free grains, unlike bread, which is quite different gluten-free. In other words, using brown rice is still using brown rice. Spices still taste the same. You're just switching grains, not everything.
Avatar f tn s is a brand of gluten free baked goods you may find pretty good. Canyon Bake House makes a terrific gluten free rosemary focaccia bread that is actually soft and not crumbly.
Avatar f tn many people have tried going gluten free in hopes that it will help with thyroid. There is little evidence that it helps with thyroid specifically. However many people report feeling better in general. So regardless of whether or not it helped specifically with thyroid, if they felt better then it was worth it. From what I've been reading, it takes at LEAST 6 months of gluten free as a minimum before you may start to see the benefits if any.
1293711 tn?1272491499 How did you go about going gluten free? My endo has suggested putting me on a gluten free diet, but its so intimidating to me.
Avatar n tn Just when the PND is unbearable. The HIT-sinus connection is interesting.Do you ever notice the drip is actually worse AFTER the antibiotics? I also have the clearing throat -coughing thing after eating.I was beginning to wonder if I had a fistula. I am completely over all the drug therapy and I have had success with herbal preparations.I am about to embark on trying to control the inflammation with either western herbs or TCM.Let you know how I go.In the meantime try the food elimination.
Avatar n tn It is still too early to tell if this will last or if the Allegra is helping, but hopefully it will. My pressure has been in the front of my head, in my forehead, down around my eyes, around my temples and around my nose. As I said, it has been constant for the last 5-6 months, and it is almost debilitating! The only thing that helps it is to lay down. As a result I have become depressed and haven't wanted to do hardly anything for a very long time! I know how you feel!
Avatar f tn The only stores that I have found gluten free at is the big chain stores (Superstore) do you know if health food stores or any specialty stores carry more varity of gluten free?
Avatar f tn t contain gluten. Vitamin D is made by the sun. Magnesium is mostly found in green leafy vegetables, gluten free. Fiber is everywhere, and many grains exist that don't contain gluten. Iron is also mostly found in animal organs and green leafy vegetables. While store bought gluten free products tend to be unhealthy because of the added sugar, there are no more carbs in millet than in wheat and no less fiber if you eat the whole grain.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take both Allegra-D and Zyrtec. In short, I suffer from allergies. I find that I feel best when I take a single pill of Allegra-D in the morning and a single pill of Zyrtec at night. In part, I have been doing this because I haven't had to go to the doctor (or Canada) to get more Allegra D so I can take it twice a day. I was wondering what the possible side-effects, besides fatigue, are of the regimen I'm taking? I've felt much better since beginning it.
Avatar f tn I also have celiac disease and am trying to figure out if the xyzal is gluten free. I was taking benadryl. I dont do well with any antihistamines. I was taking Benadryl. There is also an injection you can get.
Avatar n tn Even if you were tested negative, it would be important to give a trial of a gluten free diet (it is common to get false negative results) for at least 1 month to see if it helps. Have you been checked for sleep apnoea?
Avatar m tn Well I have had Hashimoto for the past 10 years, and I also have had allergy problems and have taken Allegra D for the past 4 years. I don't think allegra had anything to do with my hashimoto/hypothyroid.
Avatar m tn Also do these basic blood tests Vitamin D. Vitamin B12 and Ferritin. Out of these Vitamin D or 25-hydroxy Vitamin D3 test is very essential as over 90% of hypothyroid people are usually low on this.
Avatar m tn You should be aware that the thyroid hormone that is metabolized by all the cells of your body is called Free T3. Most Free T3 comes from conversion of Free T4 into Free T3 when it enters cells. Conversion is affected by a number of things, so you should make sure the doctor always tests you for both Free T4 and Free T3 each time you go in for tests. Insist on both. Ideally your doctor will prescribe enough thyroid med to relieve hypothyroid symptoms.
Avatar f tn s throwing your hormones out of balance - the list is endless as to where the problem could be coming from. The first thing I would like you to try is a gluten free diet. You can look that one up on the internet. Many people get relief with this diet. Gluten intolerance can block the absorption of several nutrients and these nutrients, when deficient, can cause many problems, hormonal imbalances, etc.
Avatar f tn There are now blood tests and the most definitive test is upper endoscopy with biopsy, but I am 100% certain you have Celiac disease and changing to a gluten-free diet is going to help you immensely. There is no time to waste - get tested. You will even need to think about toothpaste and lipstick. That's how strictly you have to avoid gluten. Believe me, it's worth it.
Avatar n tn It is very common for thyroid disease patients to also have gluten intolerance. But then many also have low Vit D also. It is an interesting connection and one I am sure in future generations of scientists will find an answer to.
Avatar m tn Allegra D doesn't heal anything, it only prevents symptoms of allergy, so there's no drama here. The reason for drugs been not absorbed - you probably just had a quickened peristalsis due to some minor food incident...Allegra itself may cause diarrhea as a side effect though. The reason of concern would be, if this spongy stool will continue. Stool had a bad smell? Or you have just ingested a lot of fibers?
Avatar f tn Hey aberleytrei91, I have had that on and off scratchy throat from GERD off and on for years. I tried a gluten free diet and my GERD went away. I have stopped taking my proton pump inhibitors for awhile now. I would suggest to stop carbonated sodas, caffeine, alcohol, citrus, dairy, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes and gluten for 1 week. Then reintroduce only gluten products for a day or two and see how you feel. Continue your PPI during this time. If your symptoms come back it is gluten.
Avatar f tn I would look into a gluten (wheat, barley, and rye) and dairy free diet as both increase inflammation. Also make sure you are getting enough vit d (d3). (I do not have MS but I have other autoimmune issues and I have to take 4000iu/day.) To find out more about a gluten/dairy you can go to celiac central, celiac foundation, celiac.org.
